UPDATE: the police just rocked up at my door. They looked scared, weirdly. Slightly breathless scared.

The officer apologised to me, then read me my rights.

Then he told me that he was going to report "this matter" to the Prosecution service.

@tabbycatstripy

Are the abusive messages in the room right now?
Genuine lol.
SolasAnla · 05/04/2022 18:43

@CarbonelCat

That's a bit weird, isn't it? Is it to do with who you follow?
There are a number of app's (one which was apparently created by a TRA with links to CSA conviction) which will block you and anyone you follow.

Block lists can also be publish and shared eg TRA Y would publish their list TRA Z could copy that so your profile is blocked.

A beardybloke was blocking anyone who liked a tweet I wrote that article 🔥 but I am sure there is a blocking app for that🤷🏼‍♀️

Floopsy · 04/04/2022 20:09

You would think someone crowing about how his 'honestly held opinion' was a perfectly legitimate way to sling abuse at people would be more accepting of others' 'honestly held opinions'. The wee bawbag.

@WinterTrees

I wonder if taking down his entire Twitter account is his toddleresque reaction to legal advice to delete the offending massively libellous tweet?
Presumably, he sees it as a way of taking down his tweet without losing face for taking only that tweet down.
DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 04/04/2022 19:01

@PronounssheRa

As predicted. Paisley claims he was sent a lot of abusive messages over the weekend and is taking a twitter break.
Again? Needing to delete one’s Twitter account once may be regarded as misfortune, to need to delete one’s Twitter account twice looks like carelessness….. Said Oscar Wilde, sort of……

'pointing out you've done a libel against a billionaire' = abusive messages

Who knew?

ClosdesMouches · 04/04/2022 16:30

@Floopsy

Paisley's twitter has gone.
According to a recent tweet they apparently stepped back for a while due to receiving 'a lot of abusive messages' over the weekend. Hmm
ScreamingMeMe · 04/04/2022 16:25

What Paisley threat level are we at now then?

P.s. has he left Edinburgh yet?

SamphiretheStickerist · 04/04/2022 16:19

Bless his cotton socks!

Floopsy · 04/04/2022 16:14

PrelateChuckles · 04/04/2022 09:55

(Jkr, I mean - Ceri should absolutely follow this up if she feels she has the energy! )

PrelateChuckles · 04/04/2022 09:54

If I was her I wouldn't bother swatting at irritating flies.

mummymei · 04/04/2022 09:32

I know this thread has moved on somewhat, but is there traction in flooding the police with complaints about cases like these? Clearly the police bow to public pressure, and at the moment they're bowing to pressure from stonewall et al? But Ceri raises some very serious concerns, where her rape and death threats are not taken seriously. But her comments are. Is this institutionalised sexism? Surely if the police faces heavy pressure from the handling of such cases they might be more even handed in how they go about doing this? I would happily complain, but not sure what to say. Not even sure it's a good idea... but just feeling very helpless!

OneEpisode · 04/04/2022 08:53

I kind of want JKR to ask her lawyers to get GenderGP to apologise for the retweet, and not bother with Man @ Busstop. I think that would enrage him.

nauticant · 04/04/2022 08:52

As I've said before, if JKR publicly goes after one of these nobodies on twitter one result might be thousands of copycats repeating the libels. She wouldn't be able to go after them all and that would mean more libels being left up and JKR having "lost".

However, one difference here might be the suggestion of her causing harm to children, so maybe she might decide that's over the line enough to force her hand.

Overall though, never wrestle with pigs.

Datun · 04/04/2022 08:46

@WeeBisom

Oh nooo does he think he can invoke the defence of honest opinion by saying “it’s an honest opinion “? Well, that’s embarrassing . He can’t do that. Honest opinion is one of the trickiest defences to deploy in libel.
Well in that case, maybe her solicitor will send him a letter.

She's a children's author and runs a children's charity. Her reputation in connection with children is very important. I wouldn't blame her at all for shutting down people who want to smear her.

Oh dear. It must be exhausting clashing with reality at every turn of one's fragile belief system.

To be this dense and smug with it is not a good look.

nauticant · 04/04/2022 07:42

JKR would be wise to avoid getting entangled with these libels, however annoying it is:

ScreamingMeMe · 04/04/2022 07:21

Isn't Parsley's tweet very similar to another TRA's (possibly Katy Montgomerie but don't quote me on that), who then had to delete it after speaking to their lawyer?

Rhannion · 04/04/2022 01:47

Beardy Herbface, wee Owen and Dr Haddock are misogynistic little shits. It’s lovely being blocked by them.

WeeBisom · 04/04/2022 01:04

Datun · 04/04/2022 00:19

He must think everyone except him was born yesterday.

Verrry carefully saying its an 'honestly held opinion' is saying yeah it's obvs not true, but you cant catch meeee.

Complete plank.

Best ignored.
