I think it safe to say that anyone who is a divisional commissioner should actually know the GG rules and safeguarding rules.

I think that it will be very hard for GG to make any statement to the contrary and retain credibility.

I don't think this individual in a one off. This is part of the trend of "inclusion" by GGUK. While leaders were struggling to keep things going over lockdown, largely unsupported by anyone up the chain of command, GGUK were carrying out an inclusion survey. In reality, they interviewed a minuscule number of people involved in the organisation (less than 300 IIRC) and decided we are all a bunch of racist, homophobe disablists who need to change our evil exclusionary ways.

My county has addressed this by appointing a new LGBTQ+ inclusion officer. This person has an extremely unusual name, that corresponds with a social media board I wouldn't want my children looking at, including such things as:

• a picture of the Lisa Simpson cartoon character bearing the caption "Ur cordially invited to fuck me senseless" ;

• I just punched shit;

• One day I'm gonna hurt you, I promise;

• You should fear me;

and

• Please use he/they pronouns.

So probably someone who doesn't even consider themselves to be female.

People in leadership roles and have contact with children obviously have private lives and sometimes they are less than squeaky clean. Anyone who uses social media to share their dark side is an immediate red flag, precisely because they are no longer keeping it private. To me, that indicates they have poor boundaries and judgment, and should not be working with children. However, the trend towards the celebration and normalisation of porn, kink, etc and GGUK's unthinking embrace of the TRA movement, in which this trend is integral, renders those of us who are disturbed by these things the "out of step" villains.

And look at the pronouns!

I’m a Brownie leader and have been involved in Guiding since I was a toddler and my Mum was a Brownie leader.

Reading so many messages about people pulling their daughters out is heartbreaking. We give so much of our personal time doing risk assessments, safe guarding training, and working with parents to create a safe and fun environment for their girls where they trust us to care for the Brownies, and then something like this comes along and deals us on the front line a massive blow. I give my time for the girls enjoyment, and seeing them happy makes it all worth it, but with more and more confusing policies being announced from on high (or even not announced - I had no idea we even had a policy on contraception!) the payback does seem to be getting smaller and smaller… and they wonder why we’re losing so many volunteers 🤷🏻‍♀️

Safeguarding is about prevention. The single most effective way to prevent predators in girl guides is to make it single sex. As it removes the cohort who commit 98% of all sex crimes.

Girl guides know this, and they don't care.

Transgenderism promotes detrimental gender stereotyping. Girl guides know this too, and they don't care about that either.

This isn't about whether or not their guide leaders can have a sex life. This is about endorsing an ideology that is detrimental to girls, whilst at the same time knowing it allows any predator in the country to have access to them.

And I, for one, am sick of TRAs saying hang on, this is just about someone's personal sex life.

I do not want my children to be put in a position where a man in authority over them gets turned on by BDSM, and exploiting power differentials. Him keeping it private doesn't make any difference as to whether I want him in that position. Keeping your kink a secret isn't really a recommendation as far as I'm concerned.

Of course it is. I mean men akd males could have stepped up to run the scout troops but they didn't hence them having to be made mixed to keep them.runnimg and its used as an excuse now as to why can't boys be in guides.

There has never been anything stopping men and males setting up their own refuges and shelters etc

These are complaints anyone can reports about you for any reason, they are not investigated and can be made anonymously. The only criteria is the person reporting it claims they find it offensive. Examples of non-crime hate incidents reported include a tweet "huh" and people raising safeguarding concerns.

Yes that is right - people raising safeguarding concerns get a reported by nefarious individuals keen to undermine safeguarding and thus preventing them holding a position where they can unhold safeguarding.

My 13yr old DD goes to GG and I'm loathed to take her out as she loves it. FWIW we live in a fairly "unwoke" part of the country and the guide leaders are lovely, quite elderly traditional women who genuinely care about the girls. I was a GG and it's been reassuring that many of the activities that they do are not dissimilar to those I did many years ago.

At the same time I am horrified and disgusted that such an individual (the photos of him make me sick to my stomach and I couldn't give a shiny shit if that offends anyone) should be allowed anywhere near children.

I think that I will write to the Head Office and express my feelings but at the moment I am not going to withdraw her.

@Lovelyricepudding - apologies; I shouldn't be telling anyone what to do. It's just that now this is out in mainstream media, including the top-down, male-centred policies, changed without consulting GG members. So there is a momentum now which can be used to turn this around.

The whole thing is disgusting.

The crux of the issue is that an organisation set up for the benefit of girls and women no longer centres girls and women.

The appointment of this male and fact that discussions about barrier contraception even have to be entertained show that they put the sexual rights of males above the whole ethos of providing a single sex space for girls and women.

It is the logical conclusion of TWAW playing out in front of our very eyes.

So sad for all of the girls and women who have benefitted from the organisation.

I'm namechecking organisations in my posts today, because the Girl Guides is another serial offender like the NSPCC, supposed to safeguard and protect children, yet they are captured by gender ideology, putting girls at risk and enabling fetish behaviour. I could name another, headed up by a similar individual. The group (not Stonewall) work with my child's school.

I'm a scout leader. I have a county run meeting tonight. The person running it sent an email yesterday with his pronouns in it. I bloody hope we won't be having to introduce ourselves with them. I won't be taking part in that.

The thing I dont understand is the dbs checks. I mean untrained busy people found all this stuff in seconds. So either the dbs/ screening checks aren't fit for purpose in which case which of those are universal checks everyone has to perform in settings with children etc? If they are the sake standard then no where is safe surely? We need more enhanced screening.

Or GG is lying and they don't check. In which case how may others working for them are currently unchecked and is that even lawful?
