TT Exulansic Youtube

I've been watching TT Exulansic's videos on YouTube having seen a link to them on here. I have learnt so much - what she is sharing is so necessary in terms of this debate. I'm also finding them really upsetting. I'm so shocked by what I've seen and just wanted to talk about them here. If you haven't watched any yet, please do.

I have a condition which has meant having plastic surgery to make my body look more 'normal'. I've had multiple, very painful surgeries which have left me in a degree of chronic pain but ultimately, I have achieved my goal in that I now have a much more normal looking body which it is easier to go through life with. These surgeries have had a clear medical benefit beyond my appearance being changed, just to be clear. I have a medical condition which has objective markers. There is evidence having gone through these surgeries, I will now have better physical health in my old age and will be less likely to experience certain complications which the condition can end up causing so the benefits definitely aren't just cosmetic - it's just the cosmetic benefits meant a lot to me as a patient. My body was 'wrong' and that was badly affecting my mental health and so I've put myself through a lot to make it look 'right.'

So there I am with having gone through this journey and so I think watching these videos on YT feels that little bit more personal in some ways, even though I don't have gender dysphoria and my surgeries were completely different. I knew already that things like constructing a 'penis' out of someone's arm was utterly barbaric and had a high failure rate and I knew there could be complications with attempting to construct a vagina. I just had no idea how frequently there were complications and how dangerous this journey is. I suddenly have the view that it must be almost impossible to go through them safely - at the very least you are risking fissures and strictures and those can lead to serious complications. Just taking testosterone is likely to lead to heart damage, too. There are going to be so many people who go through these operations and who die prematurely because they end up with sepsis or other infections.

I just watched the latest video on Jazz. I felt sick to my stomach at that one in particular. How has this poor kid got any kind of future? Jazz is severely depressed, 150 pounds overweight, has no sexual functioning at all, has already experienced multiple surgeries and complications and is likely to experience more. It's a crime to be doing this to vulnerable young people. If Jazz hadn't had these surgeries, we'd be looking at a young man embarking on a degree at Harvard, perhaps at the beginning of a journey where he felt comfortable with his sex and his sexuality. He'd be out having fun. My surgeries were so incredibly tough but on balance, they were worth it and while I'm in pain here and there, I don't have any additional complications which will actually threaten my life. That isn't the case with trans surgeries. Surgeons are literally butchering healthy bodies. They must know they are. How have things been allowed to go in this direction? (I know the answer to that really)

I would tell exactly that to a girl with CAIS, that Exulansic is not an expert on this subject. That she has followed this line of thinking due to men co-opting DSDs to justify the idea that transitioning from a man to a woman is possible.

I think you'll find plenty of people online still peddling that nonsense.

It is so far beyond cruel & has put care for people born with DSD back years

I can see you disagree with her analysis and I think I mostly agree with you regarding CAIS.

I'm not sure that she is influencing care of people with DSDs though. She's just one person giving her views on the internet.

Cailleach1 · 16/02/2022 21:42

I think the attack on TT commenced ostensibly for questioning the individual who gave the interview on youtube. The individual who said they had CAIS, but allegedly wrote a book under a previous name where they admitted they were raised as a boy, and then allegedly became a woman at 17. They also allegedly previously said they had PAIS, not CAIS. I believe it was her critical analysis (and exposure) of that person which people used to attack her. Now I think many a person has been waiting for a chance to take her out. She is an acerbically perspicacious. And says it as she honestly sees it, maybe without much care or attention to how it is received. But that is dangerous to any ideology which does not want to be examined or analysed. Hence the flurry of those who used the chance they had to try to silence her.

I don't think that TT was wrong on the technicality of it all. I think even Carole Hooven conceded that females can theoretically 'suffer' from the dsd but it has no impact as it doesn't affect the development of the female reproductive system. There are separate issues, of course. It does have wider implications for women and girls if men without any disorder are claiming they have a dsd. Women and girls matter too! Their safety and fairness. It wasn't TT who co-opted the disorder and brought it into this the same arena as this ideology. She reacted to a video given about this issue and which she perceived as dodgy. Her spidey senses may be proved right. I don't know why the ire is not directed at the people who are going around saying they have a dsd when they don't!

I was thinking about this and what would be my reaction if I had a child who suffered from a dsd. I think I would want to know as early as possible for their sake. It would be awful to just go along until they were at puberty and then have them find out they won't develop as anticipated as they don't have a female reproductive system. That would be more of a blow. And ultimately more cruel, I think.

That is incredibly harsh of her, Clare - I'm quite shocked, TBH.

@Motorina

Can you explain what rabbithole she has gone down and why it is unfortunate? Is it unfortunate because it is what lead to channel deletion?

Not very well, because I'm not involved, and only dip in and out of her content. But from my perspective she's moved from stuff about healthcare/surgeries for trans people, where she clearly knew her stuff, to making quite sweeping diagnosis on the basis of very little evidence or apparent professional expertise. And some of her latest stuff - where she's portaying herself I think as the victim of antisemitism and possibly prejudice related in 17th century witchcraft (it's really really not clear to me) - is just plain odd.

It's been alledged upthread that she was banned from twitter due to her CAIS content. I'm not goign to comment further on that because I haven't seen it, and because there's clearly deeply held views on all sides. I don't think an uninformed voice adding to that is helpful.

Thanks... I interpret her as trying her best to get to the truth... I am not sure that she would ever claim that she is diagnosing patients she has never met, and who she is not formally qualified to diagnose, to perfection. This is normal - few people only comment when they are 100% sure they are right.

I think that she has a right to bring up anti-semitism if she sees anti-semitic tropes in the criticism of her. I also think that "witch hunts" against women like her who dare to be different are easy to compare to literal witch hunts.

The CAIS stuff is totally over my head, but from what I've seen her position might be right and might be a flawed but honest attempt at the truth. I don't see it as in any way ban-worthy, but I might be missing something.

Thanks again for replying.

She appears to have been vindicated about that person being suspect, though. They allegedly started living 'as a woman' at 17. Whatever that means, in any sense.

The discussion over that person started the brouhaha, I think. However, they may not be kosher. I really think TT was arguing the point; and I believe was correct on the substantive point. The technicality, so to speak.

Some genuine discussion, but many sensed they could use the topic as a cover for attack.
@beastlyslumber me too. That and the ones that focused on phalloplasty. I really feel like she's gone down an unfortunate rabbithole of late.
I like her videos (though many are too distressing to watch in full) but I missed why she was removed from youtube (other than social media companies bend over backwards to support TIMs but care nothing for women).

Lordamighty · 16/02/2022 17:43

Her phalloplasty files were hard to watch but very illuminating. I had no idea what was involved & how horrific the whole procedure was for the patient. God knows why anyone would put themselves through that.
Isn’t it ironic that it appears that less men are opting for vaginoplasty but so many young women are putting themselves through phalloplasty, with worse outcomes.

Motorina · 16/02/2022 17:16

@beastlyslumber me too. That and the ones that focused on phalloplasty. I really feel like she's gone down an unfortunate rabbithole of late.

beastlyslumber · 15/02/2022 20:28

Thanks @motorina. I read back through the thread and think I've found her. I only ever followed the Jazz videos, am completely at sea with the rest of the discussion, but hope that she continues with those.

Motorina · 15/02/2022 18:34

@beastlyslumber I posted the link to her new site, and my post has come up hidden. But if you google odysee and exulansic you'll find her.

This post has been hidden until the MNHQ team can have a look at it.

beastlyslumber · 15/02/2022 18:23

Just seen that her channel has been deleted. Wtf. I hope she finds another platform. Does anyone know if she's anywhere else?

MangyInseam · 15/02/2022 01:00

Does SW not use the I? Here in Canada I always see it.

I've wondered why there hasn't been a stronger demand by DSD groups to have them stop using it, because it seems kind of shitty for them to set themselves up as speaking for or referring to people that have nothing to do with them.

Cailleach1 · 15/02/2022 00:28

Allegedly the person who gave a recent interview (in the US) about how they were CAIS, had written a book under a previous name in 2008 claiming they suffered from PAIS; and was actually raised as a boy.

As such, surely they knew they weren't female and were never going to have a female reproductive system? That is if they ever even had PAIS.

WarriorN · 12/02/2022 19:48

I think there's a trans Tory mp who now claims this. Or did on the website a while back. Had had a marriage and kids.

IntersexTruther · 12/02/2022 19:30

There's a lot of self diagnose people who wander around calling themselves "intersex" because it makes them feel more affirmed.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 12/02/2022 10:20

And in the UK, groups should not be using the I - although continue to do this on the advice of a very likely ‘intersex-faker’ - however, even Stonewall dropped the I after being asked to do this by DSD/intersex groups

I am horrified at the number of people who self-diagnose and promote themselves as intersex with no thought at all as to what this does to the public understanding of this area, far less the needs of the people at the heart of it, and what this self-id might mean for research funding or rigour.
