HairyPotter · 01/11/2021 12:20

Does anyone have a link to the BBC article naming DP and RS as the complainers in Marion’s case please.

Babdoc · 01/11/2021 11:57

Lovely ratio in the replies to Blackman, though! Wonder if it will make her think? Assuming she has two neurones to rub together. Which is a big ask for an SNP member, I know…

nauticant · 01/11/2021 11:10

It was Kirsty Blackman. She equivocates over the nature of her support:

MrsOvertonsWindow · 01/11/2021 10:17

Wasn't it an SNP MP who was photographed smiling with protesters and banners outside the LGB Alliance conference? Or am I thinking of a another group of lesbians / gay men that the SNP object to?

People like Spear are one of the many reasons I have never supported and never will support separatism.

I'm not Scottish, but if I were, I think the toxicity of many in the SNP would worry really worry me. Seems like a dictatorship waiting to happen Sad
Sexnotgender · 01/11/2021 07:15

@FlyingOink

Wow, she sounds toxic as fuck.
The whole party is, from the top down.

JustcameoutGC · 01/11/2021 07:14

This is totally fucked up. Someone desperately needs to peer into these murky waters and figure out what is going on.

FlyingOink · 01/11/2021 06:26

Wow, she sounds toxic as fuck.

nauticant · 31/10/2021 22:31

Nationalism + gender identity ideology makes for an especially toxic combination. Absolute moral certainty with anyone not completely on board being fair game.

SomepeopleareTERFSgetoverit · 31/10/2021 22:25

@Enough4me

As someone who heard parts of the original complaint, was it true that these two complainents said some ribbons looked threatening and scared them?
One of the most outrageous things about this whole situation was that Marion was not told the charges against her until very late in the day, I believe it wasn’t until her first appearance in court. How can a person decide whether to plead guilty or not guilty if you don’t know what you are accused of?

It has still not been clearly reported anywhere what exactly they were. Hopefully if the case is formally abandoned (at present it is just stayed) then the full detail will come out.

From the reports in the public domain I understand one of the complaint was about the photo of the suffragette ribbon, which mentioned one of the complainants’ place of work, so he was able to allege that it was a threat.

The other charges seemed to relate to the tweets Marion made about one of the police officers who came to arrest her and suggested that her children could be taken into care - i.e things that happened after the initial complaint was made. I wasn’t aware that naming a police officer was against the law, and I hope that we will hear the full story as soon as the law permits.

KimikosNightmare · 31/10/2021 22:14

So this person was investigated for her own tweets just earlier this year

No, she was not investigated, or if she was, it was very quietly and behind the scenes.

Spear deleted her , literally, hateful tweet but no- one in the SNP took her to task over it.

That's how "inclusive" the SNP is. The Union still has majority support but separatists can tweet hateful tweets about the Union with impunity.

OperationDessertStorm · 31/10/2021 22:02

So this person was investigated for her own tweets just earlier this year and has also been on the receiving end of online abuse and threats thought it would be a good idea to push a criminal investigation about someone else’s tweets through the courts.

Does this person still chair the education committee in Glasgow?

littlbrowndog · 31/10/2021 21:51

Hell I think that was 2015. Don’t mean snp will not get up to nonsense this time and we get a equalities person who don’t speak for women

Feminist to my fingertips sturgeon will no doubt appoint

Helleofabore · 31/10/2021 21:46

I was intrigued about what the role women’s convenor was responsible for and found this.

www.heraldscotland.com/news/13527136.snp-plans-create-new-gender-equality-enforcer-role-within-party/

Sounds like a job where someone who has a balanced approach is necessary and certainly not someone deeply entrenched in the progression of allowing males to take the roles set aside for females.

If I was a Scottish voter, I would be worried just who they will replace this person with. There is the possibility of someone worse than Spear.

littlbrowndog · 31/10/2021 21:43

And I got my case number and quoted it. Still waiting.

littlbrowndog · 31/10/2021 21:41

Who knows enough4me

The worst thing is that police Scotland and prosecutor fiscal went to bring a case

That is the frightening thing

I called police Scotland like nearly 4 months ago for a good reason. Still waiting on my callback

Not important enough just a woman

Enough4me · 31/10/2021 21:33
I think there was concern about being in contempt of court. I read it here first yoursforscotlandcom.wordpress.com/2021/10/29/what-do-you-think-watson/
That was a very interesting read. I didn't realise there was a pattern to it. Thank you for the link.

littlbrowndog · 31/10/2021 21:08

Spear stood down as women’s convenor. Where she wasn’t voted into

But she still got her counciler place on Glasgow city council

🤦‍♀️

MassiveHoard · 31/10/2021 21:04

Shocking, my opinion of the SNP has just sunk even further, if that were possible.

Waitwhat23 · 31/10/2021 21:04

One of the many, many reasons I will never vote for the SNP again. They couldn't give a fuck about women.

Sexnotgender · 31/10/2021 21:01

@littlbrowndog

She was named on bbc Scotland a few days ago. I heard that Fiona Robertson has also done a runner
I missed it. Had a hectic few days!
