I'm assuming through the garbled wordfuckery I'm seeing on twitter that this is people who don't understand language who are using that this is in response to:

a) The BBC article about Lesbians
b) Women objecting to the word "cis"
c) Shut up women
d) Dinosaurs
e) Shut up Lesbians
f) fannies

Meanwhile, my daughter has said girls in her class are saying "down with the cis bus" "cis people are evil", "cis should die" etc

OP posts:

@Soontobe60o

No, that's female. Refering to sex again.

See, "sex" and "gender" are spelt differently, and this usually means that they are "different words".
These different words are truly amazing, being able to describe different unrelated things...

Soontobe60 · 30/10/2021 19:29
@Soontobe60

Which they are.
I’m surprised you don’t know. They are male.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 30/10/2021 19:29

I'm not cis. No feminist can be cis, as we reject the constraints of sexist feminine stereotypes. I don't have a gender identity. I have a sex and a personality.

If forced to choose a gender identity I'd have to go for non binary which - ironically enough - would make me trans.

WeeBisom · 30/10/2021 19:29

"If you're having trouble with your gender identity, perhaps you would like me to signpost you to a charitthat could help you?"

I just want to know what gender identity IS. You believe in this concept, so it should be trivial for you to explain it to me like I'm five. You've already said it is not reducible to gender stereotypes or roles, so what is it? Again, not meaning to appear obtuse ...it's just that in my experience proponents of gender really seem to struggle to explain what it actually is.

MonsignorMirth · 30/10/2021 19:28

@RicherThanYew

Im really starting to get the impression that the advocacy for trans peoples rights isnt about trans peoples rights anymore but is now actually about making sure that cervix havers (nee women) all know their place in the world (ie, bottom of the shit heap, as it always was). Should us uterus owners just fuck off and die now, would that make us less offensive?
Ummmm some cervix-havers are "né", not "née". Do better Halloween Wink
@WeeBisom

If you do not have any gender, you are idenfy best as agender, by definition a transgender identity.

This is a very simple black and white matter.

The very reason there are so many labels is because humans are a funny bunch who don't like to be pinned down nearly into one checkbox, but at the same time we do rather like talking , so we need descriptors.

Hence most labels are a "best fit" sorta fare.

It's important to note that gender does not equal gender roles/stereotypes/expression.

Those last three vary from culture and time, and gender roles/stereotypes are generally sexist nonsense nobody really follows.
And what if you don’t actually believe in ‘gender’ as it’s a made up thing?

Millicispud · 30/10/2021 19:27

@Wildfart
No, medical settings are more my jam.

But I'm terribly sorry you couldn't read my sentences.
Maybe try a high contrast mode, I have dyslexia and that helps quite a bit.
Or maybe a magnifying app or the like.

anon12345678901 · 30/10/2021 19:26

@Millicispud

Well no, if you don't like the idea of any prefix, it's just women.

Trans and cis are just prefixes.

Well no, because they aren't women. They are men who like to believe they are women, but they are still men.
Soontobe60 · 30/10/2021 19:26
@titchy

They simply are, biologically everybody is different, socially as well.
But we're all women.

I presume by 1984 you're referring to the way BB set about making the proles hate each other and dismantle their own freedoms by removing any sense of individuality and identity, creating an "us and them" as he details with his "orthodoxy and unorthodoxy" lines.

You know, like the GCs are doing.

Splitting feminism, weakening it from the inside, allowing BB, or in this case anti-feminist and the patriarchy to win.
You really don’t know what you’re talking about do you?
The only humans who are women have XX chromosomes. So ‘we’ are not all women. Half of us are men.
Who are ‘the GCs”?
Isn’t a feminist someone who centres women and girls in their feminism? All women and girls? Ie not men?

RicherThanYew · 30/10/2021 19:25

Millicispud · 30/10/2021 19:24

@MrsTerryPratchett
No, sex refers to my biological functions.

I, like any good feminist would say, am more than my womb.

@WeeBisom
If you're having trouble with your gender identity, perhaps you would like me to signpost you to a charitthat could help you?

@HipTightOnions
I'm a woman.

Wildfart · 30/10/2021 19:24

Do you work in a shop @Millicispud ?

If not I'm sure your penchant for attaching labels to everything would make you a great success.

WeeBisom · 30/10/2021 19:21

To say that gender is 'what you are' is so vague it is meaningless. What I am? Well, I'm a human. I''m female. I'm 5 foot 2. I'm white. Surely my gender can't just be a list of all the attributes that " I am'. Because then there would be as many genders as there are people. I"m not trying to be snarky, I've just noticed that people who advocate the trans stuff often say stuff that sounds 'truthy' but when you dig into what it actually means doesn't make any sense. Gender must have more content to it than just 'what people are'.

Wildfart · 30/10/2021 19:21

If you do not have any gender, you are idenfy best as agender, by definition a transgender identity.

This is a very simple black and white matter.

You wrote incoherent babble.

Millicispud · 30/10/2021 19:21

@titchy

Then you haven't read 1984 very well then.

They changed language precisely so that nobody could have a discussion about, nor even thinking about individuality.
The aim was to eliminate thoughtcrimes by eliminating independent thoughts and identities entirely.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/10/2021 19:20

Because sex is what you are. Actually.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/10/2021 19:20

Gender is what you are, not what you do or where.

So what is it? Actually.

Wildfart · 30/10/2021 19:19

You know, like the GCs are doing.

Splitting feminism, weakening it from the inside, allowing BB, or in this case anti-feminist and the patriarchy to win.

That's actually quite funny.

Having watched feminist groups collapse over the past few years when identity takes hold, I can only laugh.

The WEP for example, has been completely trashed by the activities of a few trans rights activists to the point where it's limping along with financial support from a man who works for Google with a trans child.

WeeBisom · 30/10/2021 19:18

@Millicispud:
You say: "It's important to note that gender does not equal gender roles/stereotypes/expression."
So what is gender then? How can I know what my gender is, and whether it sits comfortably with my sex?

HipTightOnions · 30/10/2021 19:18

Gender is what you are

What what you are though?

Soontobe60 · 30/10/2021 19:18
@titchy

No, you said.
Explained implies that you're correct, which you are not.

You baselessly likened a well known term that's been used in various sciences and in gender for over a century to a racist insults.
If it’s such a well known term that’s been in use with regard to gender for over a century, why has anyone over 30 only just heard of it being used in that way? I have an Oxford English dictionary from when I was at school. It’s not in there.
My mother was a linguistics university lecturer - she has never heard of it used before the past year.
You’re spouting unprovable rubbish that you’ve read on Twitter - it’s not true I’m afraid.

REDHERO · 30/10/2021 19:17

I find 'cis' a slur. Is it only women who disagree with the TRA lobby that have no right to decide for themselves.

It's a SLUR. I am a woman, a female and not CIS.

Millicispud · 30/10/2021 19:17

@MrsTerryPratchett

Not irony at all, you claim to know all about gender, then start talking about gender expression and roles, two entirely separate things.

Gender is what you are, not what you do or where.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/10/2021 19:15

It's important to note that gender does not equal gender roles/stereotypes/expression.

A mole isn't a peacock. But what is a mole?

Millicispud · 30/10/2021 19:14

@Soontobe60

Which they are.
