What fresh hell....

Thankfully a number of posters really not impressed. Worrying number think it's entirely appropriate Hmm

But it was worth reading it to find this excellent analysis of "Ace" identity and issues around it.

I have just tweeted about this

Yep. I've said it before but there are potentially a handful of people who have any business talking to kids about sex and sexuality -parents, guardians and teachers.

Are we allowed to use the word 'grooming' now without getting the post deleted?

BubbleCoffee · 30/10/2021 12:38

This is outrageous, dangerous and ridiculous. Girls go to Guides for age-appropriate, fun activities. Crafts, environment, science or camping are suitable. Sex education should be covered by schools only, under very careful guidelines.

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

I have seen it said that asexual as an identity is very important to TRAs. If it is an identity that people can choose without judgement, then it makes it less problematic when adults are asexual because they were transitioned as children.
This is such an important point it's worth repeating
Rightsraptor · 30/10/2021 12:32

I absolutely do not need to know if any guide leader or anyone I work with is asexual. I think all this is part & parcel of the 'bring your whole self to work' thing.

No thank you.

334bu · 30/10/2021 12:28

According to Twitter asexual doesn't seem to stop you having an awful lot of sex. Confused

Whatwouldscullydo · 30/10/2021 12:20

There can also be medical reasons for a lack of connection with people , lack of a sex drive in adults etc

Depression , brain tumors, having your puberty blocked by powerful drugs.

Whereas there is no doubt that asexual people exist , perfectly healthy and happy, we can't ignore that assuming you are a sexual and potentially missing order health issues is not necessarily something we should be doing without question.

BraveBananaBadge · 30/10/2021 12:14

A flag and everything. I just don't understand it. Lots of 'ace' Guide leaders on the Facebook post delighted two big parts of who they are are being recognised. Why? Why does anyone in your workplace need to know this or be 'recognised' for it? What in all honesty does any of this have to do with the LGB or even T community?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/10/2021 12:13

Also, asexual themed underwear Hmm

Whatwouldscullydo · 30/10/2021 12:05

And given we are dealing with children here, we also need to remember that hypersexialised behaviour(s) can be a sign of abuse . A tragic outcome participle for girls who get granted as sluts and told they asked fir it as a result of this behaviour instead if it being recognised as the red flag it is.

If we are normalising taking to yet nore adults about their sexualities then how to we teach these girls where the boundary is? Where it actually should be. They need adults to be adults here

Whatwouldscullydo · 30/10/2021 11:49

Urgh,.I've said many times that we need ti start normalising not knowing and not caring about romantic attachments. But somehow this in itself has been turned into a sexuality and something to focus on as opposed to being a place that girls can get away from being sexualised and being the.object of someone's affection or not or defining the relationships they are in.

Wht are adults so invested in the sexualities of children fgs

Can't they just learn how to build fires and fix a car or whatever.

WarriorN · 30/10/2021 11:44

Especially as ace people appear to have as much sex as anyone else.

Is it the rebranding of heterosexual?

What the deep fried fuck indeed.

Why the deep fried fuck would any Girl Guide need to know if their Guide leader was asexual? Why does anyone really need to know about anyone's asexuality to be fair?

WarriorN · 30/10/2021 11:36

And it was pointed out that they ignored lesbian week entirely.
