BBC spokesperson said: “The article looks at a complex subject from different perspectives and acknowledges it is difficult to assess the extent of the issue.

“It includes testimony from a range of different sources and provides appropriate context. It went through our rigorous editorial processes.

“It is important that journalism looks at issues - even where there are strongly held positions. The BBC is here to ensure debate and to make sure a wide a range of voices are heard.”

Yep, the BBC have taken Cade's quote out

Funnily enough the article still stands and is a valid point for discussion, it's just that there isn't as much context now for where the term 'cotton ceiling' may have come from.

@MargaritaPie what do you think of the term 'cotton ceiling'? Do you find it as vile and disgusting as I do?

I see Twitter is now back to THE SURVEY as the next way to shut up those inconvenient lesbians who just won't do dick and want to discuss how they are getting shit for it, and get the article pulled completely.

They are like a dog with a bone r

"Someone who has been on many BBC panels. And even consulted the Girl Guides on their transgender policy."

Could you just say the name? I'm afraid I'm not very familiar with the Girl Guides transgender policy.

Re the BBC article they have added this:

*"Update 4 November 2021: We have updated this article, published last week, to remove a contribution from one individual in light of comments she has published on blog posts in recent days, which we have been able to verify.

We acknowledge that an admission of inappropriate behaviour by the same contributor should have been included in the original article."*

No mention by the BBC of what these comments might be? The fact she has made violent threats towards transwomen amongst other hateful and violent remarks?

Enough4me · 04/11/2021 15:30

@secular111
Yuk!!
Love the replies though pointing out that Moore was being disgusting in cosplaying what she called a 'slutty' child. It's so inappropriate. I think Moore is the one with the tattoo of a man with breasts ejaculating?

FindTheTruth · 04/11/2021 15:26

Sally Hines is retweeting people saying the BBC article is about (and I quote) "calling for #trans women to be “lynched” and the mother of a trans woman to be raped.

The propaganda is unbelievable. how can this person be in academia?

At least the weird tactics are being seen by more and more people from lurkers on here to new aware people who read the news or listened to radio this week

@Helleofabore

Indeed Secular. The disparity is quite astonishing.

I mean, I wonder if the posters who are on here telling us about Lily Cade (who has written horrific things) also write and complain about, I don't know, the prominent TRA who activates for extreme porn to be legal and the age requirement for those actors to be lowered to 16 while also stating that it is really women's eggshell skulls that is why men are charged with murder. Oh... and also that women were not out there doing customer facing jobs and were allowing men to do it all so that was why more men died at the start of covid.

I have not seen the same posters decrying two prominent activists for their mocking of women's toilet noises and positions this year. nothing.... not a peep. Just acceptable really.

Just focusing on someone who explained the background to a term that they did not even invent. When the real story is what is important.

But they can't own up to their own behaviour of contributing to the act of silencing women discussing their trauma.

And only just a few days ago prominent transwoman Jaclyn Moore managed the seemingly 'never happens' feat of equating transgenderism with paedophilia.

GC's and non-GC's responded, but not a single ally was willing to pop-up and either condemn what Moore posted, or offering support. They went mysteriously missing.

That tendency to go AWOL but to go swivel-eyed nuts about someone they regard as an enemy (such as a GC woman, a lesbian, a lesbian porn star) is terribly regular.

It feels like double standards; like the threshold to condemn the colossal amount of abuse metered-out by TRA's is fantastically high for TRA's themselves, but should one woman, not associated with the GC cause, go decidedly extreme in their actions and words, then...wow!

But in the case of say Doc Stock, the threshold is even lower. TRA's can't even quote anything in Material Girls that is transphobic, nor anything she has said or written elsewhere. And the same with JKR. After all this time, no TRA can actually copy-and-paste anything that could be deemed transphobic that she's said-or-written.

If you choose to click on the Tweet, don't be eating or drinking at the same time.

Enough4me · 04/11/2021 15:20

It comes across as deluded narcissism as they appear to want to fight for control, rather than critically analyse others' perspectives.

TRA appear to want the rights to be and to own women. Needing lesbians to validate them as women, by agreeing with them that heterosexual sex (with a penis) is sex between women if the penis-bearer feels like a woman.

They don't want to be open to sex with men themselves as they have boundaries, and that's OK as one rule for them and one for everyone else.

Vanishun · 04/11/2021 15:00

God the tactics here are so weird.

Thread: "A huge bunch of women say they've been raped or subjected to creepy rapey messages, quite a few lesbians and detransitioners are saying there's a problem - also if you look generally online, there's this huge movement against "terfs" over and over again, dehumanising and violently targeting them."

TRA response: "One woman is being really mean on the internet."

... I mean, the two aren't comparable, but even if they magically were - so fucking what? Why does that negate the initial problem of the "cotton ceiling"?

Helleofabore · 04/11/2021 14:18

Who?

Someone who has been on many BBC panels. And even consulted the Girl Guides on their transgender policy. Oh.... and one of Diva's top lesbians.

How has written at least one book and some articles on removing the censorship on all forms of extreme porn. Was involved in court about writing about an all girls pop group and killing them (or so I believe) and having sex with their body parts as part of a fictional piece.

(And all that before consulting with GG's, being named a top lesbian and being on BBC panels as a feminist)....

Doubletoilandtrouble · 04/11/2021 13:29

I think I know Helle, you are GC if you are attracted to a specific sex (or both).

Hence why both Cade and OJ are GC. I think some posters underestimate how picky most people are when it comes to their sex lives.

Some TRAs seem to underestimate this indeed - and not understand sex-based attraction.

That is why this article has been helpful in bringing this to a wider attention Smile.

Helleofabore · 04/11/2021 13:24

What is gender critical Margarita? Have you ever answered that question?

Doubletoilandtrouble · 04/11/2021 13:22

I am happy to announce that with those criteria Owen Jones is GC as well.

It seems once it gets down to sex, most people are GC.

Still deflecting from your rape apology stance I see!

"Lilly Cade is not gender critical"

I happened to have seen her latest blog post before the host banned her website. She is definitely gender critical.

A radical gender critical, I suppose you could call her.

secular111 · 04/11/2021 12:53

It is interesting observing the Cade-related threads by TRA's on Twitter.

I guess when the swivel-eyed meet the swivel-eyed, all constructive reasoning goes-out-the-window and the crazed expressions of horror and (often obviously faked) outrage ramp-up, with each contributor trying to out-do the previous one.

Cade, who has never engaged with the GC movement, never attended a protest, never contributed an article or essay that could be considered a GC-related one, never been interviewed by the likes of Posie, or Meghan, has been associated with the GC cause. That's one thing, but then she has now been associated with the BBC, which in the Tweet gave her, someone who actually IS dangerous to women, the platform to spew this hate.

Except, predictably perhaps, that is completely wrong, a lie. The BBC never gave Cade a platform to do anything such thing; she was interviewed for the specific purpose of investigating the origins of the 'cotton ceiling' and her words referenced that, and that alone. Her platform to spew hate is Twitter, and of course, her own Web site with her registered domain. The BBC has nothing to do with that.

Guilt-by-association though seems to work in the 'grab-your-pitchforks'. For the crime of interviewing Cade, the BBC gave her a platform to spew hate, though anyone reading Caroline Lowbridge's article is going to be unable to find any evidence for that. Yet religious-inspired righteous rage doesn't require accuracy, or demand a considered response. In the world of the swivel-eyed...the swivel-eyed are king.

The writing style is reminiscent of the 9/11 'Troofer', or the Lunar Landing Doubter movements, whereby any perceived inconsistency or questionable source invalidates any further argument or view. Indeed the language deployed by the TRA's is a mix of 9/11 Troofer, with incel-driven extremism.

The obvious snag though is that Cade's expressions of hatred are eclipsed by the sheer body of evidence of TRA hate, spewed out from social media on an hourly basis and collected-and-collated by sites such as Woke Homophobia: Anti-Gay Hatred, Transcel Rage & Boxer Ceiling Abuse from Trans Activists & Gender-Identity Ideologues, Terf is a Slur TRA Receipts...

Unfortunately the TRA's haven't been able to compile evidence for even one web page of alleged GC hate postings. Add in those sent to just JKR, Helen Joyce, Kathleen Stock, Maya Forstater and you are likely on several hundred thousands incidents of spewed-hate.

It's disgraceful. It's deflection.

It's rape apology using " women are just as bad" as an excuse!

Doubletoilandtrouble · 04/11/2021 09:17

If we are talking about individual examples and extrapolate those… what about Baby Kardashian? They didn’t really stop at threats if I remember correctly?

lifeturnsonadime · 04/11/2021 09:07

@MargaritaPie

"because someone interviewed has allegedly assaulted other women"

And has also threatened violence against transwomen just to add.

"Trans lives matter"- as chanted by the crowd at the LGBT event where someone wearing LGBAlliance attire wasn't welcome.

Of course trans lives matter.

I feel really uncomfortable with the way TRAs are using Lily Cade to discredit the experience of lesbians though. On the face of it some of the things she has written about trans women are abhorrent but context is key. She will have been subjected to some horrible things in the sex industry. This doesn't excuse all behaviour but she may well feel angry with trans women claiming lesbianism and the fact that people are getting off on so called 'lesbian' sex and the pressures that will undoubtedly have put on her to perform acts she wasn't comfortable with. If you see 'sex work as work' you won't see people like Cade as a victim of her circumstances. There are plenty of abusive men in the porn industry yet you focus on Cade to distract from the fact that lesbians have been raped, why is that?

As for threatened violence against trans women, that is vile but my sympathy is limited with a community that turns a blind eye to violent threats against women who do not comply and hounding women out of their jobs. Where is the horror at the rape threats that JKR and others have received on line? Why the glee at Professor Stock being hounded out of her job by a group of activists who made her feel unsafe. It's outright hypocrisy. Women deserve it don't they, but trans women (the sacred caste as someone put it) need to be protected at all costs.

It's disgraceful. It's deflection.

secular111 · 04/11/2021 08:43

@MargaritaPie

I'm not interested in discussing "cotton ceiling" here, I'm more concerned with the fact Cade is a sex predator and her views on transwomen. In particular the recent article she wrote on her website which is a bit concerning. It reminds me of the sort of extreme thing a disturbed incel would write before going off and committing something bad.
Anything like the extreme disturbed incel stuff that these transgender women like to send on social media?

'Cos there rather a lot of it at just one site that collates the material, and there are several sites doing the same. These from terfisaslur.com/ alone.

And the best the TRA's have in response is Lily Cade, who has never been associated with any GC group, never written articles contributed to GC sites, never taken part in demonstrations, never engaged beyond her own Twitter and web site (used to promote her porn work)?

Is that it? Just Lily Cade?

It seems a bit thin. GC's have been observing incel behaviour from TRA's for years now, and the threats are backed by real-life instances of violence. I don't reckon GC's could ever match even 0.1% of the threatening imagery and words of TRA's.

Doubletoilandtrouble · 04/11/2021 06:58

I just realised, any lesbian who doesn’t want sex with a penis is automatically GC according to some posters.

I guess all heterosexual men who don’t want to have sex with a transwoman with a penis is GC as well?

And any gay man who doesn’t want to have sex with a man with a vagina? This means that OJ is GC I think?

So many of us…..

How racist to appropriate blm mantra.

No different from the all lives matter crowd.

Lilly Cade is not gender critical. Working in porn of any sort is embodiment of female sex role stereotypes, not critical of them. Knowing a tw is male and a lesbian saying no thanks to fucking them does not mean someone is gender critical, it means they understand facts.

BloodinGutters · 04/11/2021 06:13

@Journeyofthedragons

I wonder how funny the women that she sexually assaulted find it.
Go put it on the right thread then.
