BBC spokesperson said: “The article looks at a complex subject from different perspectives and acknowledges it is difficult to assess the extent of the issue.

“It includes testimony from a range of different sources and provides appropriate context. It went through our rigorous editorial processes.

“It is important that journalism looks at issues - even where there are strongly held positions. The BBC is here to ensure debate and to make sure a wide a range of voices are heard.”

Obviously not. I'm laughing at the grandiosity but the premise is disgusting. Believe women, no not really. Only on men's terms.

Arseholes.

His 'serious complaint to the heart of government' starts with him being unable to look up a simple complaints procedure which is easily available online? Or know about Ofcom?

Ok then Grin I'd be fucking quaking in my boots.

'I hold here my letter of complaint Gentlemen. One which will rock your world to its core and bring about immediate and fundamental change to your cess pit of an institution! Quail before it! .... If I can just find a stamp. Do you think it need to be first class? I ideally want it there before the weekend.'

So Darren Styles read an article saw a tweet saying the BBC had reported on lesbians experiencing rape and sexual harassment and decided that the moral and upstanding thing to do was get it shut down?

I mean do they not hear themselves?

Wildfart · 27/10/2021 21:46

Darren Styles OBE

Hey
@BBCNews

  • publisher of @AttitudeMag here. We are about to take apart your developing anti-trans mantra on all of our channels and I’m going to carry a serious complaint to the heart of Government and seek apology and change. To whom do I speak for comment and correction?

Hahaha 🤣 okay then.

Alektopteryx · 27/10/2021 21:43

@Wildfart

That's good. Attitude mag were grandstanding on twitter about getting the government to intervene at the highest level on this.

Doesn't look like that's done any good.

There's an archive version for those who don't want to give them clicks after seeing their tweets about it. archive.md/BqsMr

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/10/2021 21:40

*open letter. Bloody auto correct.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/10/2021 21:39

I was honestly expecting them to cave in and grovel for forgiveness.

The opening letter was just a shit load of emotional blackmail.
Again painting LGBA as anti trans, and the whole narrative that get the L out "view transwomen as men" as if they are somehow miraculously not a subset of the male sex class just because they say so.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/10/2021 21:34

I was expecting this thread to say that the BBC had issued a grovelling apology! Great to see the BBC backing up their reporter.

Great to hear! Will go have a cheering read of it!

Whatstheweatherlike · 27/10/2021 21:18

Also nice to see #IStandWithLesbians is trending on Twitter.

Alektopteryx · 27/10/2021 21:14

Very pleased to see this. I remember the days when such a response would have been unremarkable, but there has been such a lot of capitulating to the bullying, howling and threatening of the mob that this seems like a Big Deal!

ScribblingPixie · 27/10/2021 21:08

About time. Our institutions need to be strong & fair - & do the job they're suppose to.

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2021 21:08

Good stuff.

Wonder who drew the short straw and had to wade through the angry open letter. I did try but it was awful.

malloo · 27/10/2021 21:05

Well done BBC, better late than never!

FeckTheMagicDragon · 27/10/2021 21:01

Finally the BBC grew a pair!
(Metaphorically speaking. We all know you cannot actually grow a pair unless you are male 😄)
