@SpookySeason77
I mean, you're the one who seems to insist on invalidating trans women's identities

Nobody - literally nobody - is saying that transwomen are not transwomen. What other “identity” are you on about? Hyperbolic nonsense.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 24/10/2021 22:49

in return for you not calling them slurs

what slurs are those then?

Waitwhat23 · 24/10/2021 22:46

The term 'cis' is made up nonsense. It's a Latin prefix which means 'on this side of' which has been co-opted by TRA's only since approx. 2004.

On the one hand, women are told that they are committing literal violence if they misgender someone or use incorrect pronouns while simultaneously being told that others will refer to them as cis and it really doesn't matter if they agree or identity with the term.

It's just out and out hypocrisy.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 24/10/2021 22:46

Well, I would say something to that, but you wouldn't take it well.

No, I don't tend to take strategic illiteracy very well, ever.

Let me just say that ideological groups often consider attacks on themselves to be attacks on the entire demographic group they claim to represent.

Like how all sorts of chauvinists think criticism of their behavior is an attack on all men.

Irrelevant. She said what she meant and she meant what she said. What you are arguing here is whether she should have said it, and your opinion on that is immaterial to whether it was clear she meant women as a class.

@PurgatoryOfPotholes

It wouldn't actually hurt to use adjective like "cis" to identify someone as not being trans – that's what the termmeans. The persistent need to assert yourself "above" trans women is more a matter of pride than anything else.

Yes. It. Would.

Now this is going to seem blunt. But that's life.

There are a great many words that trans activists don't like which I am not using. In return, I expect that you do not call anyone except yourself "cis".

This is called reciprocity.

That's like demanding of gay people to just call you normal instead of "straight/hetero" in return for you not calling them slurs.
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 24/10/2021 22:43

See this? ----> .

That's my current level of good will after that demand.

I started this thread with a circle of good will of considerably larger diameter. Be told.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 24/10/2021 22:41

Do you seriously not wonder why it's being backed by people like Boris Johnson, Matt Walsh, or Andy Ngo? Why the entirety of the reactionary right-wing movement seems to be backing the GC view on trans issues?

Shockingly, they also believe as I do that the Earth orbits the Sun and that Covid vaccinations do not put microchips into your body.

SillyStrings, could you explain to me why I should want to give up the right to women-only spaces, when these reduce my risk of being assaulted by men?

Read Blibbyblobby's post at 21.40

it explains eloquently why men who identify as women and women are not the same

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 24/10/2021 22:39

fuck me

do you people operate some sort of ticket based relay system?

you all say the same things

SpookySeason77 · 24/10/2021 22:37

@MrsMadderRose

Good on you Whatiswrongwithmyknee, thank you.

There are lot of things make me angry about the whole situation but the idea that being abused and subjugated as a woman is enviable FUCKING BOILS MY PISS.

Having said that I agree with Blibby's post below too – TW and women could support each other if we could all be realistic about what we are and our differences - and some TW do seek that kind of respectful relationship. It's not impossible.

I mean, you're the one who seems to insist on invalidating trans women's identities and reinforcing a seperation at every turn, seen even here with "TW and women", seemingly pressing the point on how they're "not real women" and inadvertently alienating them in the process.

This doesn't exactly encourage solidarity.

God are we on with the performative obtusity again? Really?

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 24/10/2021 22:34

What they said didn't seem to be about women in general, more so about GC women specifically.

the 'us' i used was about women in general. which women were being singled out for SillyString's hateful comments is something you'll have to check with them I'm afraid

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 24/10/2021 22:30

Yes.

I have to say, I don't see it. What they said didn't seem to be about women in general, more so about GC women specifically.
Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 24/10/2021 22:26

BTW, I may not have been the only one to report the post. It was abhorrent.

I agree. The victims here are not just women, they are also the TW who recognise that TWATW and do seek respectful relationships. Silly is not just victimising women with such aggressive abusive statements.
Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/10/2021 22:24

Yes.

SpookySeason77 · 24/10/2021 22:17

@Ereshkigalangcleg

Can't speak for them, by why would a trans woman have to like you specifically?

It's clearly a general "us" meaning women Confused

Is it?
Whatiswrongwithmyknee · 24/10/2021 22:15

*Bitter that recognizing trans women as facing many of the same forms of oppression will somehow make your own victimhood feel less "exclusive" and "special".

Did Sillystrings say this (can't find it, was it deleted?)*

Yes silly did say this. And worse. I reported it for the abuse that it was.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/10/2021 22:13

The same person saying biological sex is irrelevant, impossible to tell anyway, nothing to do with being a man or woman, talks about re-shaping their body to look more like people of the opposite sex. So biological sex and visual sex characteristics are actually relevant and even central to someone's gender identity after all.

Indeed. Can they not even see it?

It's like listening to an everything and nothing all at the same time argument but on repeat forever with these people.
