Hi all I can't see a thread about this conference next week in London (QEII). Lots of great speakers including Maya introducing Allison Bailey! Is anyone going? I'm considering going to some of it. Any idea if there will be protestors outside? My (elderly) mum is going.

Kirsty Blackman mp snp who said on Twitter it was a hate conference turned up to stand with the 3 protesters outside. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Employee: 'Hello HR I'd like to report Sarah for transphobic behaviour.'

HR: 'Oh that's concerning to hear. What has Sarah been doing?'

Employee: 'She went to conference hosted by a gay charity.'

HR: 'Confused'

@BaronessWrongCrowdRex

I don’t know about you but I find this wording quite sinister. Unfortunately I’m not on twatter so I can’t report them.
Well it’s obviously MEANT to be intimidating but I don’t honestly think they’ll get very far accusing people of transphobia for just sitting listening to some talks.
Cwenthryth · 21/10/2021 14:02

Also stuck at home and really wanted to go for at least the afternoon but not able to now, work meeting has run late.

[quote OhHolyJesus]Somebody it's counting how many people turn up.

I can also count. I make it 4 people outside the venue protesting the event, all from Surrey Pride it appears, all there because Surrey PCC Lisa Townsend is there giving a speech. Maybe this is the 'action group' seeking to remove her from elected office?

Just 4. From Surrey.

The left hand flag looks like a pair of underpants Grin

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/10/2021 13:33

That is interesting that the protest is small.

My impression is that people who are trans tend to be focussed on themselves (excuse the sweeping generalisation and bear with me) - when I argue the case for my rights they counter with anecdotal stories about themselves and their lived experience. Whereas, the women who argue for our rights are focussed on the needs of others - other women, young women, girls, older women, women of faith, disabled women, incarcerated women, gay women, bi women, traumatised women, shy women, fit women, athletic women, women who would like to say "no".

It is not easy to go out and protest if you are focussed on yourself, there will always be something easier, more appealing, nicer to do than go out and stand alone in the street with not very much to say.

FlyingOink · 21/10/2021 13:27

Trans not train sorry

FlyingOink · 21/10/2021 13:27

Yeah I believe so, plenty of pics being taken too but we were asked to let them know if we didn't want to be photographed. Really small protest, a train flag and a handful of people. Security is good.

OvaHere · 21/10/2021 13:17

Some interesting clips so far on Twitter. Does anyone know if it's being properly filmed for upload at a later point?

I'm interested to hear from Robert Wintermute.

Fariha31 · 21/10/2021 13:09

Im well jell. Wish I was there.

Wish I could be there but I'm experiencing too busy a time at work to come along.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 20/10/2021 08:35

Security’s always excellent at the QEII centre, they’re more than used to dealing with protesters!
