“How to spot terf ideology” - Cambridge uni

I love that they are calling biological sex an ideology.

Talk about lose your audience before you've finished your sentence.

I wonder what Mary Beard thinks.

The leaflet is basically one big neon 'I hate women'

It talks about how we need to be careful of terfs. Their ideology is believable but wrong, narrow minded etc. But there is not one single sentence that actually says why they are wrong, what is actually wrong with what 'terfs' are saying. It says we should develop a critical understanding of sex and gender to combat terfs, but not one sentence that actually gives a critical understanding of sex and gender. Not one thing you could actually say to a terf. Just empty waffle. I'm just so disappointed that a cambridge student could think that leaflet is in anyway useful or valid. It's vague crap. I could write a better argument against terfs and I am one!

What fucking action?

There are various stats etc raised often.

Some (the ones raised most often) are focussed on murder, attempted suicide and self harm (esp young people). The stats are dodgy. They are raised to manipulate and also to 'win' the Oppression Olympics.

However. Much less commonly raised are things that I have no doubt are issues for plenty of trans people, in particular males who adopt feminine presentation full time. But others also esp young and from areas where it's generally risky to step out of line. Plus no getting away from parents being arseholes to children kicking them out etc if they don't conform to whatever.

Things like-
Homelessness
Elevated risk of Street harrassment/ violence (from men)
Vulnerability due to sometimes complex MH issues
Discrimination with housing / employment
I don't know where stats from but higher incidence of selling sex is definitely more than possible esp younger males

What have I seen about doing anything about any of that? NOTHING. Fuck all.

There are loads of trans orgs and until recently were widely supported, often corporate donors, seen as main cause to help with.

Could have done all sorts.

Centres / helplines etc specifically for LGBT+ people around rape, DV. Run by people who understand the specific risks, needs, challenges for those groups.

Help around housing, homelessness, jobs. Practical help. Etc.

Help for those wanting to exit sex industry. With decent support through from getting out safely to what happens next until things are settled so that no feeling need to return. Training etc.

If this is going on they're keeping it bloody quiet.

All I see from orgs is-

Women open up your spaces stop whining.
Loads of places need much more training on T stuff this will really help.
Here are the things we want. The govt etc need to give them to us.

It's really hit home that this isn't about vulnerable trans people either. Not those who were have been around for yonks, nor even the hordes of children that have essentially been fed it all.

They are all being used too.

I know we are having a laugh about its awfulness and rightfully so, but I am sick to death of anyone who is gender critical being portrayed as someone who hates and fears trans people. I don't and I don't think I have ever seen a viper on this board say something truly transphobic. But people like fucking Milo won't be happy until GC people all live in fear of getting their heads kicked in if they dare to criticise the TRA agenda. I find that really scary.

Why does milo feel it appropriate to take a woman's officer post or be part of a woman's only college if he is a he?

Could it be because milo actually considers themselves a woman?

The leaflet is just laughably bad. I wouldn't mind a reasoned trans right leaflet, even if I disagreed with the principles. If milo wants to campaign for trans rights that's okay, but why apply for women's officer to do this? And then publish a poorly written leaflet about how much you hate women?

It only has one like on the cambridge trans students page!

So that's everything then, because there are transpeople everywhere.

Women's issues, trans should lead.
Race issues, trans should lead.
Disability, trans should lead.
Healthcare, trans should lead.

I can see why so many people are coming out as trans. For an oppressed minority, they seem to think that they should lead the discussion on every issue.

Dd aged 12 had a lesson on period poverty today. The language in the literature from the charity talked about period havers 🙄🙄. The male teacher shouted “otherwise known as WOMEN and GIRLS” (think I love him). Dd said “is this what you are going on about mum now I don’t know what to think”.

Where is says 'TERF', insert 'WITCH' or 'HERETIC'.

What I find interesting is the document is very out of date on this issue.

Milo will insist that period products are available in the men’s toilets. Milo will think this is important because Milo thinks that men can have periods.

Milo's manifesto had four points -
1 - diversity training for staff. Omitted to mention the need for this to address women's issues whilst mentioning other disadvantaged groups.
2 - access to IT. I fail to see how this is a women's issue rather than an everyone issue.
3 - consent education. Finally, a policy that will address a problem disproportionately impacting women, yay! But how good will it be when delivered by someone steeped in an ideology that refuses to hear the word 'no' when uttered by the wrong sort of woman?
4 - free period products. Again, should be a good policy, but in all toilets, even the men's? I think we all know what will happen there. Also manages to not mention that women have periods.

Depressing. You're women's officer Milo. You have one job FFS.

Hopefully drag will be assigned to the same “not worthy of respect in a democratic society” bin as The Black and White Minstrel Show.

And this is an area that exposes (no pun intended!) the total contempt for women and girls. The total refusal to even consider what women have been saying for years. In fact to just ignore it and tell anyone who points it out that they are bigots, Nazis, religious traditionalists with outdated prudish views, hysterical, fear mongers, hate all males.

And best of all. Only raise their totally fucking obvious reasons for saying no to xyz. Because they want to have a group of people in society (men women children) exterminated. It's definitely nothing to do with protecting women and girls.

A priority of this movement is to get single sex spaces opened up to males. Everyone knows the obvious massive risks. The people who have fought to get so much changed from single sex to gender.
