This is the story of Barbie Kardashian, a violent and disturbed young male. Currently in a womens prison in ireland. This comes with pretty much every trigger warning there is

I think traditionally they were but with the law in Ireland having been changed to allow self ID the trans lobbyists got that policy changed, because if they are women like any other women, how do you justify excluding them? A lesson for us, and it's bad enough here.

WomaninBoots · 09/10/2021 12:52

If prisons were declared an exception... then why is this individual in a female prison?

Am I misunderstanding something here?

leavesthataregreen · 09/10/2021 12:34

Someone with a strong intent to rape a woman is a man. A man. Just a man. Male pattern violence. Male pattern crime. Nothing female about it. And his sadistic attack on the female care worker should never be reported as 'girl attacks woman' because a man attacked a woman, using his strength and male pattern violence to do so.

wheneveryousaymyname · 09/10/2021 12:29

creepingdeath I'm almost certain prisons were declared an exception in Ireland and can see a few references to this in articles. Was the overturned at some point?

theconversation.com/what-would-changes-to-the-gender-recognition-act-mean-two-legal-views-103204

"Crucially, many countries have retained sex-segregated spaces in recognition of the fact that women are also a protected group, and most sexual violence is perpetrated by male-born people. In Argentina, for example, trans individuals are usually placed in the segregated prisons designated for homosexuals. In Ireland, prisoners remain segregated by biological sex irrespective of gender identity. In Malta, trans prisoners are housed with people of the sex in which they identify, but prison officers are required to provide additional protections, which could entail separate shower times, for the safety of all prisoners."

" In Ireland, for example, transgender prisoners have been allocated according to natal sex."

@wheneveryousaymyname

I was under the impression that self ID in Ireland did not extend to prisons. Is that not the case?
I contacted Limerick prison a while ago, and asked how many TW they had housed in the female estate, as it is hard to get an actual number (mostly because the media don't report them as men). I got a wishy washy response saying that they basically couldn't give me an answer because prisoners are recorded by their declared gender, or some nonsense.

If you look at the actual legislation for Self ID, it acknowledges in the accompanying notes that although the legislation uses the word gender, that they mean legal sex. So why wouldn't this apply everywhere including prisons.

It's a mess.

NecessaryScene · 09/10/2021 11:50

You would have thought reports about a highly disturbed individual who wishes to harm women being placed in a women's prison would have led to the eyes of those making the decsions being opened, but no, it just got swept under the rug

It had an impact though. As far as I can see (from abroad), this particular case was quite instrumental in drawing attention to the self ID situation in Ireland, and all sorts of campaign groups sprung up around the time this came to light.

Before October 2020, there was almost no organised GC resistance in Ireland. So even if this particular case didn't break through to public consciousness at the time, it was the catalyst to wider discussion.

I suspect this could be productively revisited now or later.

FionaMacCool · 09/10/2021 11:44

This poor young child was treated in an abhorrent way at a time when every child should experience protection and healthy loving boundaried care.

Unfortunately, that was not what emerged for him/her and they are extremely damaged, going on media accounts.

As broad as my compassion and empathy is for this young person, it does not extend to allowing them to be detained anywhere that there are female bodied people. They will need, in all likelihood, ongoing psychological care and protection, for the rest of their life..

groundcontroltomontydon · 09/10/2021 11:34

In January the Irish PM apologised to survivors of Ireland's mother and baby homes and for the country's "stifling, oppressive and brutally misogynistic culture".
What's changed?

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 09/10/2021 11:29

I remember reading about this one. You would have thought reports about a highly disturbed individual who wishes to harm women being placed in a women's prison would have led to the eyes of those making the decsions being opened, but no, it just got swept under the rug Sad

GingerBeverage · 09/10/2021 10:54

I want to know who his father is. I think everyone has a right to know who created this person.

MarshmallowSwede · 09/10/2021 10:22

This person has a hatred for women. That’s clear by his actions.. he obviously is a sexual
Predator and needs to be in man’s prison. Better yet a mental hospital.

OldTinHat · 09/10/2021 10:11

Good lord. This is absolutely horrific. I agree he needs to be sectioned. And I will say 'he' because he is male despite the lipstick.

Missmissmiiiiiiiiisss · 09/10/2021 10:02

This is really awful. I’ve worked with boys in a women’s refuge and they have been through hell and seen the worst kind of intimate violence close up and (horrifyingly often) sometimes forced to be the perpetrator. It leaves them (not always by any means) angry, sad, confused about what it means to be male, deep shame, believing they are bad and also exposed to horrific things like rape, violent phonography etc.

I’m not excusing what this teen has done in any way, but for societies sake as well as his own he needed therapy aged 8.

Refuges are notoriously underfunded and CAHMs is a joke in most areas. We all pay the price.

ArabellaScott · 09/10/2021 09:59

@Ereshkigalangcleg

I seem to remember there was a prohibition on reporting on it at one point.
Yes, there was one site that persisted, but all other media reports were removed from the internet pretty swiftly.
ScreamingMeMe · 09/10/2021 09:54

I wouldn't BET on it.

SheeceRearsmith · 09/10/2021 09:51

www.independent.ie/irish-news/inside-a-womens-prison-my-daughter-thinks-im-away-doing-a-hairdressing-course-35706399.html

This is an interesting article about Limerick Women's Prison and it's (approx) 35 prisoners.

Added to this mix, now, are two rapists and the above-mentioned BK.

Abigail12345654321 · 09/10/2021 09:45

This was widely reported in the media a year ago - can’t see that anything new has been reported recently

MintyCedric · 09/10/2021 09:38

The only place for this individual is high security psychiatric unit.

TurquoiseBaubles · 09/10/2021 09:35

All the reports on this were removed from mainstream media a year ago and seem to have just reappeared Confused.

There are at least two other male prisoners in Limerick Women's prison.

For context the capacity of the prison is about 35 prisoners - though over the last year it has been running at more than 25% over capacity.

The reason this is not discussed in public in Ireland is that it is completely legal, in compliance with the law which allows self-id. That same law that is claimed (by trans-activists) to be causing no problems at all Hmm

Please please sign the petition that is demanding the sex of offenders is recorded.

That is terrifying

Nachthex · 09/10/2021 09:15

IIRC there had been an order banning mention of this in the press while BK was a minor. Fair enough, you might think. But then social services (I think) tried to get it extended beyond BK's 18th birthday.

I hope one of the Irish sisters (dinosaurs?) will be along soon to clarify.

ScreamingMeMe · 09/10/2021 09:15

I wouldn't be on them getting male only care, I really wouldn't.
