This is what Jess Barnard said when she was allowed to comment again at the end of the discussion:

"If anyone came into our spaces and was debating our rights, the right for us to exist and for spaces in which we feel safe, then I think that we would be pushing back in the same way that trans people and their allies are today. I think we would all feel very angry if people were trying to take away our rights."

If there was ever a case of being unable to see the wood for the trees, this would be it. Hilarious and unbelievably frustrating in equal measure.

God I wish More or Less would do a slot on the suicide stats once and for all.

She's studying for her Masters in OwenJonesology.

No, there were so many strands in the misogyny discussion many things went unchallenged. To give you an example of the depth of her analysis, in the past people didn't contact their friends before setting off home and then letting them know they'd arrived home safely. Also, these days, women have to walk about with their keys held in their hands as an improved weapon.

People might want to call Any Answers tomorrow and take issue with Jess’s comments.

I should find time to listen to the programme, but did any of the other guests respond in any way to her claim? I don't think I could have restrained myself from scoffing at her if it'd been me.

It was extremely annoying AssassinatedBeauty. She wanted to make the point that things are bad now but rather than go to the trouble of formulating and presenting a cogent argument, she just plucked something out of her arse that made her point but was made up and untrue.

Jess not only got suicide in early, she got it in often.

Why are these people never challenged on these lies? Imagine any other group that came on and endlessly repeated that they were at bigger risk of suicide than anyone else. Imagine, say, every time someone came on to talk about disability they said "Disabled people commit suicide more often than anyone else." Imagine the impact of that on people who are disabled. It's just vile. And nobody ever ever challenges it.

Also, she then went on to make false claims about how hard Twitter was for trans people because people were mean to them. Stupid woman.

Who are these people who are saying 'very foul things' about trans people?

Men, largely. But that never seems to bother people as much as a lack of enthusiasm from a woman.

Love the critical thinking section at the end. Exactly this. Higher education is for this. Truth seeking. TRA are not dealing in truth so this is terrifying them.

She doesn't seem to realise that this is exactly what is already happening to women.

"And I think you can argue that you also support trans rights but you want to accept the debate, well actually you have to understand that people within the group that are arguing for this debate vehemently oppose transwomen, they believe some really foul things they talk about very foul things..."

Who is she talking about here? It's not Kathleen Stock, it's not us. Who are these people who are saying 'very foul things' about trans people? I'm sure there are people who do this, but they're not the people who want a debate.

Earlier on she was accusing women who don't want to lose their rights as living in an echo chamber. She should really get out of hers and start to listen to the other side.

For anyone playing Trans bingo, Jess got the suicide risk in early.

Earlier in the programme Jess Barnard said that the 1970s were better for women's rights and their safety than the current day. She's a great one for having opinions on things she's wholly ignorant about.
