Says he is “team TERF” and backs JK Rowling.

@EsmaCannonball

On yesterday's The Mess We're In they started referring to the showrunner complaining about Chappelle as The Bloke with the Cock Tattoo. Now Glinner's SubStack has a mocked-up poster for that film. Imagine having to deal with a man shoving that porn-culture tattoo in front of your face all the time.
I'm sorry for being dim, but could someone please explain that in a way that I understand?

Sort of rephrase it, for someone who doesn't have a clue? Thanks.

TerfRex · 11/10/2021 18:40

Oh no panic over, it's there. Not sure what happened. It wasn't briefly!

TerfRex · 11/10/2021 18:39

I'd just got to the bit where he talks about his friend Daphne and felt it extremely poignant. Describing the 6 day twitter pile on from tras because this TW comedian stood up for him.

TerfRex · 11/10/2021 18:32

I'm at the point where I'm wondering if Moore is trolling and the whole thing has been orchestrated between him and Chapelle.

Is this actually legal? There are many employers in the UK who would not employ someone if they had a visible obscene tattoo.
TerfRex · 11/10/2021 18:20

Argh!

I was watching it in bits today, last watched a bit at 5:40, and had literally got to the end, where he makes really major points.

That's annoying (in his words.)

Blessex · 11/10/2021 17:15

@VladmirsPoutine I never said that he does. I just said he had an interesting viewpoint I hadn’t thought of before on it all.

@MedusasBadHairDay

Hmm, I'm curious to know the context for "gender is a fact". I'd say arguing that gender is the factual bit, rather than sex, falls into either conservative or TRA territory.
This gay man and his husband just watched Chappell's newest set last night and found it hilarious and very humane. Yes, he used the word "gender instead of "sex" a few times but he's not going to play the woke terminology game. He complains throughout the set that a certain segment of LGBTQ community (the ones intent on being outraged) are not listening to what he's actually saying and simply piling on.

People who claim he is "transphobic" have clearly not watched the actual set (which as the JK Rowling brouhaha proves is what so many do, get their information from Twitter instead of going to the actual source where they might find out that what people SAY Rowling (and Chappell) have said is not ACTUALLY what they said) He does indeed call trans activist insanity onto the carpet (rightly so) but he also recalls with humor and tenderness his trans friend and fellow comedian Daphne Dorman whom he was mentoring before her death.

Ironically, when Daphne defended Chappell's supposedly "transphobic" first Netflix special on Twitter, she too was smeared by trans activists. Which like the intolerant response to this special, further proves that this isn't about trans rights or trans people's actual well being but about power and speech control.

VladmirsPoutine · 11/10/2021 16:50

@Blessex I have. DC doesn't give a damn about women's rights but his commentary over the years about race has been spectacular.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/10/2021 16:43

Phew.

Aderyn21 · 11/10/2021 16:38

It's working on mine

Lordamighty · 11/10/2021 16:24

I can’t get it either but he may have pulled it himself, he has done that before.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/10/2021 16:10

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

I went to watch it now, and netflix won't load it or any of his other shows.

Uh oh.

Oh no! I watched it yesterday and was looking forward to working through the rest.

Dave Chapelle’s response:

According to @HollywoodReporter, Dave Chappelle had a lot to say regarding calls for him to be cancelled and his new Netflix stand-up special “The Closer” to be pulled. While appearing at his sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl, he didn’t hold back on how he feels about the backlash. “If this is what being cancelled is like, I love it. Fk Twitter, Fk NBC News, ABC News, all these stupid a networks. I’m not talking to them. I’m talking to you. This is real life.”

Blessex · 11/10/2021 14:12

@VladmirsPoutine - have you watched it?

VladmirsPoutine · 11/10/2021 11:11

Black people and women. Ok.

Blessex · 11/10/2021 09:36

@BraveBananaBadge David fucking Lammy should watch it!!!

BraveBananaBadge · 11/10/2021 08:18

Yes that stood out to me too Blessex, and that was something that went straight over the heads of Brian Logan and the comic ranting in the Guardian (who was black and trans iirc). They're so busy decrying the 'anti trans'ness of it all, what he had to say about race passed them by.

Blessex · 11/10/2021 08:06

Look the clever thing he does he bring an argument that white male supremacy has changed the rules to ‘punch down’ on black people and women. That’s quite a clever argument to have with people if they simply don’t get or care about women’s safety. It’s not the main issue but it’s another argument in our battle.

WarriorNoasaurus · 11/10/2021 07:13

Honestly, go through Moore's Instagram. If you can cope. It's all there. In a relatively short space of time.

👀

Blessex · 11/10/2021 07:12

My favourite bit was when he said - Caitlyn Jenner winning woman of the year. That be like Eminem winning black person of the year.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is Dave Chapelle's sketch on the LGBT community from the Sticks and Stones tour.
