Just read Glinner's update on Patton Oswalt and his social media hair shirt episode over having the audacity to put up a photo of him and Chappelle together on New Year's Eve. It's absolutely appalling. Online credibility meaning more to him than the 30+ year friendship he exploits and then recants, for what?

My eldest child is doing modern history this year, in the one history class she needs to have to graduate from highschool. They have not touched on anything to do with the Chinese cultural revolution. Recently they have spent a whole week on theories about the JFK assassination.

This is why I find the whole identity politics approach to teaching history crazy, while saying it will wake the students to injustice, it ignores all the actual history that might give some insight into the human heart and the wielding of political power.

I follow a n/b athlete on Instagram and they posted a screenshot of a tweet from a transwoman saying Chapelle had been invited to attend a 'Trannsformative dialogue' but had refused.

That chilled my blood. Does nobody remember the excesses of the Chinese cultural revolution?

I've never watched Dave Chappelle before or even really heard of him. Watched The Closer after all the fuss. Not really my thing, however it stayed with me after watching it - he is very provocative.

My thoughts:
He's very offensive & very clever;
It's a shame he conflates sex & gender - but pretty much everyone outside of GC world does;
It was very touching and very supportive of trans people. But because he also criticises & takes the piss- which he does to everyone- there is a massive meltdown;
And this is entirely his point - TRAs think they are untouchable and the cult must never be questioned or ridiculed. DC put them in his firing line like he does everyone else;
This is not hate. They are not being specifically targeted;
I think every word DC says is deliberate and well crafted.

I will watch some more.

Chapelle may be on “our” side on this, but he’s no friend to women. The first of his Netflix specials was an hour long rape apology on behalf of Bill Cosby. He’s a misogynist, as are many people who superficially appear to be gender critical.
