I suppose it's too much to hope they are going to look at how TW can be included in men's sport or how to develop a third category for TW and TM on testosterone? I'm guessing the actual response will be science is wrong, women are being mean how can we force them to do as we tell them.

[quote CatsOperatingInGangs]People who want to make women and girls sport mixed sex are organising to fight the science! There’s a link if anyone would like to attend.

Is it wrong of me to be unduly fascinated by the fact that they've made the black bar double-size in that barcode at the bottom to ensure the original rainbow flag doesn't get more than 50%?

ArtemesiaK · 05/10/2021 17:48

I posted on my Facebook an article about Laurel Hubbard, and how unfair it was for them to be competing as a women. Somebody (female, graduate in her forties) came straight back at me with a silly Hermione Granger gif, about it not being biology, but "twanthphobia". I have blocked her now, life's too short to listen to idiots.....

334bu · 05/10/2021 17:36

Unfortunately Spiindoctor, for those who believe that transwomen are actually woman , science and biological reality are facts that they would like to magic away, for if you have to concede that transwomen athletes are not exactly the same as women athletes , then the house of cards comes tumbling down

Spiindoctor · 05/10/2021 17:07

I'll be glad when this thread falls off the bottom of the page because it will mean that people have stopped arguing against scientific fact and the truth.

sigh

New guidelines for transgender participation unveiled by UK sports councils

Sometimes it's worth stepping back a bit, when everything you see is just. Mind blowing drivel that has been put together using a random word generator. And like good girl (thinking of myself) you painstakingly try to get to grips with what is being said. Double check whether there could be a reasonable point. Conclude no. And then think though the list of reasons that it's drivel.

If read in a place to comment. Take the time to present your response in language that is as clear as you can manage. Aware that too short not going to be persuasive. Too long TL;DR. (My personal failing).

And then no reply / or a hefty goalpost shift / or a strop.

It's easy to get well. Pissed off and tired. You lose track of what even the fuck this is all about amongst the lizards and hormone wash and inbuilt womanliness and rapists in with women is fine the whole justice system says so.

Step back and remember I dunno 10 years ago. When the general public had NO IDEA this was or could be a thing.

Remember that 99.999999 % of humans in the world know EXACTLY who is a woman, who is a boy.

Because it's the most BASIC FACT THAT ALL MAMMALS KNOW.

and remember that anyone who claims to not know or that biological sex in humans is irrelevant.

Is deluded, or lying, or there's something in it for them. Or they love nothing more than sticking the boot into women. Or they are afraid of disapproval/ excommunication/ violence of the real type.

I don't know why I felt like putting that here but well there you go Smile

MrGHardy · 04/10/2021 14:31

In my sport the transwoman is not as strong as all of the women but is stronger than some. That still doesn't make it fair that they take the place of a less strong woman.
(By strong I don't mean physical strength per se but ability to win at the sport).

So true. This is the gaslighting lie that gender ideologists use. "Oh look, the transwoman didn't dominate so cannot have an unfair advantage".

timeisnotaline · 04/10/2021 13:45

No I can’t but seems a good take! It must be exhausting being Kirsti miller who seems to find every major post on the sports report and add about 10 links to reasons why it’s all wrong. (One reason seems to be that they didn’t ask her, as a former competitive male athlete)

334bu · 04/10/2021 13:37

You might be able to read it from her Twitter account

334bu · 04/10/2021 13:32

Sorry. Basically agrees with open and female only category.
" It's not a perfect answer, but it's certainly one that seems to be the fairest, for now at least."

timeisnotaline · 04/10/2021 12:46

@334bu I’d love to read the whole article but paywalled.

NiceGerbil · 04/10/2021 03:49

What this statement from the orgs for each UK country DOES mean.

Is that women can set up their own clubs. And that is fine. Female only no problem.

Yes it's shit to start again but at least it's an option.

NiceGerbil · 04/10/2021 03:48

@Spiindoctor

I think kickboxing might be seeing this arrangement, which includes transwomen against women, as more lucrative - women will be risking getting more seriously injured, a woman who can beat a transwoman might be a crowd puller.

I hope it's not this reason but why else?

Earlier in thread. Or another thread. Seems there's a member of staff in head office who is almost certainly pushing this.

That they said immediately fuck no we will carry on self ID. Well it's ludicrous.

No way will parents of girls send their kid off to local kickboxing club past a certain age. Well most of them.

Because the general public know it's ludicrous and they don't want their DD to be kicked in by a boy. You know, because they like their DDs. And know what everyone knows which is that boys over a certain age/ development point. Are bigger and stronger etc than girls. And so. No way.

Agree. I think people think of one flew over the cuckoo's nest etc.

My mum worked in an ect clinic for a long time.

I asked her about it because I mean I only knew the usual idea- no anaesthetic, force etc.

She said. That it is used for those vv depressed and nothing else helps.
Obv it's general anaesthetic.
That they don't really know why it works (this was years ago maybe they know more now). But it did work. Her explanation was. It seems to sort of jangle the brain up somehow and they perk right up.

She also said that generally it was pretty obvious that there was a problem causing the depression. Her example was an older woman with a really horrible husband. That was not good. Loads of depression has a cause, in the past or current. To dig into that is a lot of time and resource and money. That's another issue though.

Born, I'm so sorry you were so ill and I'm happy that you got a treatment (a scary sounding one) that helped you :)

@MiddlesexGirl I'm sure people could the rest of the alphabet. It's just so frustrating to be told it doesn't matter or it won't impact women and girls it does matter and it does impact females even at the most casual non competitive level having men invade women's spaces and take their places isn't something to gloss over because it's only a few men or it's not serious competition or some female bodies are bigger, stronger than others anyway.

@McDuffy

When I run parkrun, I want to be the fastest female/woman in my age category. I don't want it to be mixed-sex, as it won't be the truth. That's why we split it in the first place!

My DH ran parkrun at the weekend for the first time in two years and came first, that simply isn't a target for 99%+ of female runners. He even walked three times! Pesky man with pesky longer legs and pesky male physiology that's just all round faster/stronger.

Not read past this quote but wanted to say 'hear hear', I am normally 3rd or 4th for my age and sex in parkrun. A few weeks ago, I came 101st out of about 450 runners. Only ten of those were female, the rest were male. When I run with my DC I'm a lot slower so looking at my stats for those runs I know parkrun participation at that course is about 2/3 male 1/3 female.

There are plenty of people who would pay to see a man 'legitimately' beat up a woman.

merrymouse · 03/10/2021 09:53

but without any good reason for them to be in the category for the biological sex they are not.

Looking at the last Olympics it seems likely that increasing numbers of biological females who don’t identify as women will compete in the women’s category, which should theoretically undermine the idea that this is somehow demeaning.

borntobequiet · 03/10/2021 09:51

Oh and this was the PND that was part of a pattern of hormone related illness that prevented me carrying on with a sport I loved, because it completely destroyed my sense of balance and timing for a week every month. I couldn’t risk competing. Women are sometimes excluded from sports they could excel in by their own biology. That’s often forgotten.
