Apparently an adult male can get a cervix through hormones and surgery!

Who knew?

I’m equally embarrassed for him and bloody livid that this moron is in government.

Why is he so keen to campaign for stuff he doesn't understand in the least?

thenightsky · 29/09/2021 15:48

She called him out on his bullshit, and he knows it's bullshit so didn't have a leg to stand on, so he got nasty

Yes, towards the end of the interview you could hear the absolute ANGER in his voice. There's a man who doesn't like to hear the word 'no' from a woman. Chilling.

Jaysmith71 · 29/09/2021 15:43

Lammy said on that interview that one in four transpeople COMMIT suicide, not attempt, but COMMIT

It's all getting very Four Yorkshiremen: I used to get up at four o'clock in the morning, half an hour before I went to bed, commit suicide, then pay mill owner for permission for him to use exclusionary language against me....

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/09/2021 15:43

@NecessaryScene

This movement really is entirely based on words without definitions, isn't it?

Drives me fucking nuts.

Not only do I often not know what they're saying, I'm also quite often not sure whether they know what they're saying.

They absolutely do not understand what they're saying. If you know where a woman's cervix is, what it's function is in childbirth, then you'd never spout the delusional "transwomen have a cervix". The comment displays a profound level of ignorance and disrespect about women's bodies - as well as an overwhelming sense of male privilege in repeatedly spouting crap.
Lottapianos · 29/09/2021 15:42

Oh good god, that Radio 5 interview! What an arrogant, entitled shithead! He 'identifies as a feminist' - oh well that's alright then. His own race has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the question or with this topic. She called him out on his bullshit, and he knows it's bullshit so didn't have a leg to stand on, so he got nasty. What a bully. Disgusting

LoislovesStewie · 29/09/2021 15:28

@Doglicks

I went to school with him. He peddles this "born and brought up on the mean streets of Tottenham" nonsense, but he was actually a full boarder at The Kings Cathedral School in Peterborough, and was a chorister in the Cathedral choir. I have a cassette tape of him singing "Old Father Time" in a high soprano solo, from a school play in 1985. Barely went home apart from 3 times a year for 7 years. Then off to Oxford and then Harvard. When exactly was he down living the rough life in the ghetto, that he bases his politics on?

(Sorry that was just an aside from your thread) :-)

I did say this on another thread;he is actually very privileged, but probably fell asleep during biology lessons as he had to get up early to sing in the Cathedral choir!
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/09/2021 15:27

I'm wearying of being told I'm old-fashioned/bigoted/a dinosaur by people who are clearly both older than me and also speak transinclusive jargon worse than I do.

I speak pseudo-progressive as a native language. I just don't agree with the assumptions it all rests on!

bellinisurge · 29/09/2021 15:26

Labour are going to lose the next election.

thenightsky · 29/09/2021 15:22

Wow, Lammy said on that interview that one in four transpeople COMMIT suicide, not attempt, but COMMIT

That was the point I shouted 'oh do fuck off' at the screen.

NewMutiny · 29/09/2021 15:20

I think it's really telling that they all know that they are not allowed to say certain things but they don't know why

Craven fools.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/09/2021 15:16

Sigh - I want to vote Labour. I want an intelligent, moral and ethical government. But how can anyone vote for a government where MPs who consider themselves fit to govern spout all sorts of inaccurate crap about women's bodies in desperation to silence women because they've got themselves too close to a toxic misogynistic lobby intent on removing women and girl's rights to boundaries.

Sexnotgender · 29/09/2021 15:10

I’m always upset when I don’t get any canvassers at my door.

OP posts:
CourageCallsToMe · 29/09/2021 15:05

I also raised it not the doorstep to a Labour canvasser

RoyalCorgi · 29/09/2021 15:02

The 'correct' answer to this (from the TRA point of view), which only Emily Thornberry seems to have understood, is to talk about transmen and that TMAM, some of them have a cervix, so it is transphobic to say that only women have a cervix.

One of the massively hilarious things about all this (and there are many) is that almost any of us on this board could have given a better, TRA-approved answer than Starmer, Lammy, Reeves et al.

It's because we all understand the issues and they don't. They get trans men and trans women mixed up, they think sex reassignment surgery can magically give men female parts, and they (probably) don't know what a cervix is.

Fair play to Thornberry - I don't agree with her, but at least she's understood what the issue is.

Franca123 · 29/09/2021 14:55

I just think of all the things me and my cervix have been through together and I get so mad about men like this wading in with their utter twaddle. Do you think David's wife went mental at him when he got home? I bet she would have if she'd ever had to have her cervix opened up using a a weird dildo balloon device to make it possible for an embryo to be manually placed in her uterus. Remember speaking to a lady with a weak cervix so she struggled to carry a baby to term. David's thoughts on the matter are irrelevant to me.

JeremiahObadiahJackanoryJonez · 29/09/2021 14:50

Sorry - that was meant to quote the link to his interview on radio 5 this morning back on page 1 - oops!

JeremiahObadiahJackanoryJonez · 29/09/2021 14:49

I raised it on my doorstep to a Labour Party canvasser before the last general election. Am I not a member of the British public. What a fucking joke AngrySad

Masdintle · 29/09/2021 14:43

@Alekto

That bollock-wearer Lammy is just an oppressive anti-woman dinosaur hoarding male privilege.
Love it! Sometimes, the posters in this board get it absolutely spot on. Like this Grin
Gastonia · 29/09/2021 14:16

They are like supply teachers who've been left a copy of the teacher's answer book.
Absolutely this.

I think he glanced over the crib sheet, which said that transmen have a cervix, but didn't digest it. He gave no thought to the actual meanings, and just remembered it as transwomen. Then when he started his reply, it led him down the ovaries route, which made him look even more ridiculous.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 29/09/2021 13:25

@PurgatoryOfPotholes

I'm a bit worried about the impact on Ovarian Cancer awareness as well, which is already very low.

David Lammy: "it's probably the case that transwomen don't have ovaries".

twitter.com/LBC/status/1443125834626260993?s=19

PROBABLY?!

Seriously?? Two words spring up mind together they are not complementary. Last word ends with end and the first word rhymes with hell. Have these Labour idiots forgotten that women won the right to vote over a century ago? Do they think what they can say any insane tosh and get away with it? Anyway Lammy Starmer, Raynor, Thornberry et all if you keep erasing my sex then you won’t get my X.
OldCrone · 29/09/2021 13:19

"It's probably the case that trans women don't have ovaries ... but a cervix, I understand, is something that you can have, following, er ... various procedures and hormone treatment and all the rest of it"

For some reason the serious way in which he delivered this expert biological explanation really tickled me Grin

This was in answer to the question "Is it transphobic to say only women have a cervix?"

His answer was about transwomen and whether or not they could have a cervix. So he's saying that he doesn't believe TWAW.

The 'correct' answer to this (from the TRA point of view), which only Emily Thornberry seems to have understood, is to talk about transmen and that TMAM, some of them have a cervix, so it is transphobic to say that only women have a cervix.

All those MPs talking about transwomen in answer to this question are telling us all that they don't believe that TWAW.

Chersfrozenface · 29/09/2021 13:14

Well, Mr Lammy, if your party based policy and messaging on what came up on the doorstep, it wouldn't have given this subject more than a moment's thought. But it based them on what TRA lobbyists and twitterati told it, and here you are.
