Despite the absolute carnival of shite being thrown at us we are amazing.

That we can laugh even through this nonsense is fantastic.

Keep on keeping on. We will win and we will celebrate ❤️

You lot Grin

I'm sure my TWAW daughter will be nodding in approval when she sees me carrying her right to inherit money and property out to the skip tomorrow morning. She won't mind in the slightest seeing her brother getting the lot.

Eyesofdisarray · 28/09/2021 22:09

Ooh @Wrongsideofhistorymyarse- mind yourself; Women's rights can be sharp

Eyesofdisarray · 28/09/2021 22:08

I wonder if I could put all my hoarded women's rights in the skip down the road? Would anyone notice?
Even if I chuck 'em out I'll probably accumulate more, it always happens

Fitt · 28/09/2021 21:59

I've got the right to open a bank account without asking my dead dad for permission stuffed under my mattress still.

I'm sure that one will have to be the first to go back. Banks must be sick of sending women bank statements, when we can't really tell what it's saying without asking our dads.

Mrs Beeton has a whole subsection on the icing & decoration of the cervix, I believe.

Also 'The Accomplish'd Lady's Delight In Preserving, Physick, Beautifying, Cuntery and Cookery', 1675.

And see: 'The whole Cunty Body of Cookery Dissected, 1661'

Among Cock-Ale, Naples Biskit and A Plain Ordinary Posset there are plenty of good recipes for simple cuntry folk.

I admit to being a member of the Secret Cervix. Lots of rights hidden away in those vaults, including the right. The right of married women being allowed to keep their own earnings and the right to obtain a separation order from a magistrate if a husband is violent are creaking and clanking a bit but they haven't yet bothered M.

Or N. Or P come to that.

I’m busy fighting with my right to party. The fucking Beastie Boys keep trying to drag me back to 1986 where I sported a horrendous mullet and neon leg warmers. I’m resisting but it’s tempting.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 28/09/2021 21:20

I trod on a right on my way to the loo last night. Hurt my bloody foot.

CaveMum · 28/09/2021 21:15

I bet Fanny Craddock could rustle something up with a cervix though @EmbarrassingAdmissions Wink

Sonarl · 28/09/2021 20:43

I'm loving this 🤣

My cervix brings all the boys to the yard.
You know all those special cookery books that deal with the lesser used bits of meat (eyes, melts, the uterus - with nuanced recipes for bovine v. porcine uterus as a point of delicacy)?

I've had a shufty through the indices of a couple, absolutely nothing for the cervix - not even a note praising it for its utility in strengthening a stock for a soup base.

I question that your cervix ever brought all the boys to the yard.

ArabellaScott · 28/09/2021 20:17

CaveMum · 28/09/2021 20:01

I found my “right to train a racehorse”, circa 1966, down the back of the sofa.

Where’s everyone keeping their cervix’s these days? Do you keep a spare for special occasions?

Toseland · 28/09/2021 19:59

The quote from J Bindel on the back of Simon Edge’s book is brilliant; “I laughed so hard I nearly fell in my cauldron...”

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 28/09/2021 19:59

@Odense

Oh. Balls. I’ve got the right to apply for a credit card shoved down the back of the shoe cupboard. I’ll get a broom and hook it out.

Soz

Do this, much more spirit-lifting and a good use of the broom:
JoodyBlue · 28/09/2021 19:54

Sad @EmbarrassingAdmissions - yes I had forgotten that. Chilling really. Even the most ridiculous scenarios that appear satirical have echos in life these days. Glinner makes the point that he can't write comedy now in this environment because the extreme is daily life. Madness. Still keep the levity, we need some of it. Perhaps those wonderful women might disguise themselves in suits and moustaches and try again.

My favourite discovery of a hoarded right was the right for women to be served in pubs which has been hoarded since 1982. If we give that one back,

To be fair, it seems as if that one is already being recalled from some women in Scotland, iirc. the venues Doctors and Crossed [X] come to mind.

JoodyBlue · 28/09/2021 19:43

My favourite discovery of a hoarded right was the right for women to be served in pubs which has been hoarded since 1982. If we give that one back, I wonder if the rights clamourers will be quite as keen on opting into the no-fun-fest. Maybe they will just choose to disguise themselves as men on a night out.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 28/09/2021 18:01

We'll end up like the remains of the people on wards who are mocked by the children undergoing death-conditioning in Brave New World - in fact, a fair amount of this sounds more familiar and relevant to the general travel of contemporary events than I'd recalled.

@EsmaCannonball

I'm really sorry but I opened the door to my box room and the right of a single woman to take out a mortgage and the right of a woman to act in a stage play without being regarded as a prostitute both managed to escape. (She's old that last one but, by god, she can move fast.) I'm hanging round the local train station to see if I can spot them, and I've alerted all the ports and airports. Sorry to anyone who was planning to buy a house and, you know, Dame Judi, Imelda and everyone. Hang in there, we'll get them back.

Sophoclesthefox · 28/09/2021 17:53

Grin esma

I hoarded loads of women’s rights from the nineties, but they’re not legal currency any more. Still historically interesting, though!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 28/09/2021 17:52

I would dearly like a rights version of Who let the dogs out right now. (About to retire to my fainting couch, rights reserved, between meetings. Am too tired to go and fetch the soup to sustain me.)

ArabellaScott · 28/09/2021 17:52

Ooh, I just found the right of a woman to continue teaching after marriage - it was stuffed down the back of the sofa! Naughty me!
