This has just come out from the Communist Party of Great Britain (not the Communist Party):

weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/1363/orthodoxy-and-its-discontents/

“Unlike traditional conservatism, trans orthodoxy does support and celebrate gender nonconformity in a small minority. But for the majority of us the story is unchanged - women are told that we are an innately submissive class, born to service men. If you are promoting trans rights orthodoxy - arguing that most female people are ‘cis’, and that being a woman is about having feminine feelings of submissiveness - you are buying liberty for only a few, while slapping chains on the rest of us.”

The CPGB only has about 30 members I think, nonetheless it is good ammunition to fire back when the "Christian right" and "fascist" smears come out.

This is where I find people tend to say something about politics being a horseshoe, and the hard left is the same as the alt-right.

Wow, that is excellent, could not be stated any more clearly and starkly.

When I try to explain this whole debate to someone who has not been aware or has just started to see behind 'be kind', it's often difficult to know where to start because there's so many aspects and facets to it - I often find myself frantically diving between many different topics and probably sounding a bit frenzied! I may just forward this to people instead as a sort of introduction - It's clear and concise and informative. Thank you for posting it.

That's fabulous. If anyone knows the author, please encourage her to publish this (maybe a shortened version) somewhere where it will be more widely read. It's really very good and deserves wider exposure.

Storming article. It nails the fundamental problems with the way gender / trans issues are being framed by the dominant gender ideology, and also that the ideology is preventing what should be a natural alliance between gender non-confirming males and feminists.

The article I would write if only I could write that well!

StillWeRise · 19/09/2021 20:32

good article

HummingBeeBox · 19/09/2021 20:23

Excellent article. People don't believe it is happening or trot off the line 'be kind' when faced with this. I told a friend about it this week and she just said 'nooooo that can't be right!' I'm going to send her this.

malloo · 19/09/2021 19:51

Thanks for this OP. That's a really good and very clearly written article that deserves to be published in something with a wider circulation!

The CPGP has a few hundred members - my DH is in it. The Young Communist League has a few hundred too.

They're the only party that's actually standing up for women's rights!

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 19/09/2021 19:12

Identity politics in general overlook the importance of class - arguably they are a deliberate distraction. I'm not suggesting a carefully planned conspiracy, but it does suit governments if people are too busy with generational/racial/gender ID conflict to focus on economic inequality

Abhannmor · 19/09/2021 16:48

Well ...Amanda McLean is a gifted writer. She explains it all so well. I did read Engels' stuff on the roots of women's oppression but it was so long ago I'd forgotten it!

WarriorN · 19/09/2021 16:39

Excellent analysis

Teacakequeen · 19/09/2021 15:20

A really good article and certainly an answer to anyone to says GC ideas are aligned with right wing ideology.

Pudmyboy · 19/09/2021 13:17

Thanks, an interesting read!

KittenKong · 19/09/2021 11:26

Yes they have generally poo-poohed all this.
