Quite jarring to hear him say it out loud but yes, this white man has stated love on the radio that there should be no spaces where biological males can’t go.
Just before 8am.

I welcome his candour. He has demonstrated that like many men in powerful positions, he can get away with openly shitting on women and face no consequences at all.

Trump had to be covertly recorded being misogynist before anyone complained, and he rode it out. We've now progressed to UK political party leaders being misogynists on national radio and being applauded for it by liberals.

Fuck you, Davey. And everyone who supports you and your views.

WarriorN · 17/09/2021 12:11

Has anyone asked him his thoughts on transmen in male prisons and what the safeguarding issues may be there?

It's always about the transwomen....

catzwhiskas · 17/09/2021 12:05

Can’t see any party worth voting for right now because of the misogyny we are seeing. As along time labour voter, I did actually vote Lib Dem on the back of opposing Brexit as at least they were clear. Now their clarity will lose them women’s votes. So be it. Deeply shocked but not surprised by this man’s assertion, similar to that of my labour MP. And the contrast between that piece and the report on violence to women....

Kdubs1981 · 17/09/2021 12:03

I confess I did shout "fuck off!" At the radio

Feelingoktoday · 17/09/2021 12:00

Male power. They just don’t care or like girls and women. We really need a new party otherwise I’m going to have to vote for Boris.

MrsWinkly · 17/09/2021 11:58

Well, I suppose it's about time biological men had some freedom after years of having their movements so restricted by the irrational feelings and unimportant experiences of women. I mean, what possible harm can it do?
It's that question of potential harm that baffles me. How can he be so wilfully ignorant? Might as well get some nice paper and write those abusers an invite.

Artichokeleaves · 17/09/2021 11:46

Non penis havers should be supervised at all times by penis havers. There must be no time they are ever out of penis havers' control and presence.

Wouldn't he be happier somewhere like Kabul?

SorryAuntLydia · 17/09/2021 11:37

@MrsOvertonsWindow

Gosh - letting that sink in - no places where someone like Ed Davey can't go if he states he's a woman:

A changing room of teenage girls changing for swimming
A girl's dormitory in a boarding school
The women's showers in a workplace
Any hospital room where a woman is undressed and being examined
The girls toilets in a school
Every women's refuge and rape crisis centre.
A woman being strip searched in a prison

And the rest.....
There's a name for men like this.

No it’s worse. The question - asked and answered twice was about biological men and Ed think that there should be no places where biological men can't go full stop

So basically Ed thinks women and girls shouldn’t ever be allowed single sex spaces.

Just wow.

OvaHere · 17/09/2021 11:35

Funny how this understanding thing only seems to go one way.

So apparently women don't understand the lives and experiences of those identifying as TW but presumably Mr Davey thinks that TW have unique lady brain insight into being female.

BahHumbygge · 17/09/2021 11:24

Penis = Access All Areas pass

That’s what this is all about

MrsWinkly · 17/09/2021 11:24

I really, really resent Ed telling me that I 'don't understand' with regard to anything.
It all seems so familiar. Man tells women to 'pipe down because you're clearly hard of thinking'.
This current Ed stuff feels like he is indulging in some political willy-waving.
Agree that LD's are fucked and they deserve it. Locally, nationally, it's just too hard, annoying and pointless to work out what they are for. So easy to forget they exist until they pop up again with some woman-sidelining/hating crap.

Blackandwhitehorse · 17/09/2021 11:21

Gutted as I’ll have to tactically vote in the next GE or just not vote.

@TheRebelle

Oh, are the Lib Dem’s still going?
Not any more.
user1495884211 · 17/09/2021 11:07

"yeh, because I think some of the arguments that are put against this just don't understand the facts and experience. You know, transpeople women are some of the most discriminated against in our society. They suffer violence. They suffer harassment."

There, corrected it for you, Ed.

MrsWinkly · 17/09/2021 11:00

Abhannmor
Poor Mr Ed. This is all on Layla Moran. She is operating him with a foot pump

Hats off, that is fucking brilliant!

Artichokeleaves · 17/09/2021 10:58

It is indeed beyond depressing when you have to face that you will be forced to vote tactically to try to keep out the most gynephobic/male supremacist parties rather than actually voting for anyone you would wish to support.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 17/09/2021 10:56

I was so, so close to voting lib dems in the last GE. Then I found out what they really thought about women. Ended up voting Labour but I'm buggered if I'm doing that on the next one, so politcially homeless it is.

How can you square rising violence against women and girls with a view that there shouldn't be anywhere males can't go, so no refuge for women, no escape for women, no safe space for women, ever Sad

Not unexpected from LD but it's really pissed me off this morning. After a week of reading news stories of men committing assaults on women, men possessing and creating horrific images and getting away with slaps on the wrist.

No one cares. They're all too bloody concerned with the 'most' oppressed kind of women, the ones getting attacked and murdered and raped more than any other women apparently.

Meanwhile rape victims get told they have to reframe their trauma and that they have privilege Angry

And now a grown man feels comfortable enough to go on the radio and say he doesn't believe anything should be free from males. The leader of a political party no less. It's all just so unbelievably shit.

R0wantrees · 17/09/2021 10:54

@Abhannmor

Both Moran and Davey have acknowledged the influence that their friend, Helen Belcher, has.
DoormatBob · 17/09/2021 10:48

It's funny because to me he accepts the answer has to be binary! There is no other clearly defined option.

PiglingBlonde · 17/09/2021 10:43

Well, I've resigned my membership and told them why. I expect they'll be glad to get rid of another woman.

I'm sure I'll stay on the "begging" lists though, wouldn't want to miss out on my money even if I am a terrible terrible person.

Some people are saying that Davey didn't answer clearly which surprised me. The words themselves are pretty clear.

Jaysmith71 · 17/09/2021 10:37

Ld's all went wrong after Charlie Kennedy. The choice then was between Clegg and Huhne, a charlatan and a crook.

R0wantrees · 17/09/2021 10:35

I'm fairly confident that Boris Johnson has said very little about the conflict of sex based Safeguarding and demands of transactivists. Ed Davey has had a year to aquaint himself with the Equality Act and reflect on its proper application.

Written Ministerial Statement: Response to Gender Recognition Act (2004) consultation
The Minister for Women and Equalities' Written Ministerial Statement to the House, on the Government’s response to the consultation on the Gender Recognition Act 2004.

"The Equality Act 2010 clearly protects transgender people from discrimination. The same act allows service providers to restrict access to single sex spaces on the basis of biological sex if there is a clear justification."
