The GC what now? Are we the cult?

Twice in the last week or so I've read TRA posts on twitter saying GC fems are a cult. Despite the fact the movement begs for debate and sunlight. No secrecy or pushing for kids to hold secrets from their families.

Is this the latest in "I know you are but what am I" or has this been a claim all along and I haven't noticed?

I thought the standard cult uniform was for us all to wear the same colour robes or something. Can we pick the colour? Or shall we all get the same haircut?

Someone please help me? This is my first time in a cult!!!!

AlfonsoTheMango · 17/09/2021 14:54

I also haven't spent more than maybe a handful of hours here and that's solely because I'm hoping at least one of you isn't sucked into this ridiculous sell-your-own-home-for-the-cause-and-live-off-carbonara cult.

Huh who whut.

I have no intention of selling my home unless it is to buy another house. Live off carbonara? Eh? I thought it was lemon and poppy seed.

Would you lot please stop moving the goalposts so I can figure out who I'm supposed to worship and which queue to get in for the lobotomy?

ShrillSiren · 17/09/2021 13:54

@Quaggars

I don't know what you say about me and think of me because I can't be arsed to look for myself - but I'll make a point of telling you that I know you all hate me because someone told me rather than me making the effort to find out for myself Branheim wasn't referring to everyone though (that's how it reads to me anyway!) Even says hopefully some of you, so clearly not to everyone - so why, if it doesnt apply to you, are you taking it so personally? As for saying hostile, I took that as meaning feeling hostile and said so. The posts themselves I don't think come across as aggressive though.
Maybe they don't come across as being aggressive to you because you are fully aboard the trans train, and that means whatever a trans person does or says is A-OK.

On another thread, wasn't it you that said it was worse that someone filmed people in a fully clothed reception area than a male person exposing themselves to women and children? I never noticed you coming back to that thread after the news broke of who the perpetrator was. I wonder why that was.

Your judgement and opinion means very little if so.

Transing away the gay is conversion therapy.
We sure do suck at it, then, considering that 77% of trans people, going by our gender, aren't straight.

It isn't based on "gender". A male only attracted to other males is gay. So no, only when you turn it upside down and rob it of all meaning. So you are avoiding the question.

RedToothBrush · 17/09/2021 12:29

Imagine walking into a room with a bunch of strangers and saying:

"I know you are all horrible, everyone's told me, so I'm not going to talk to you"

And everyone else going 'eh waht?'

And then going in full on drama

"You all hate me!"

And everyone else going 'ok then, you crack on' and just continuing to talk amongst themselves.

Cos it really is a bit like that tbh.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you have to engage to make friends and win people over rather than just shouting about how awful they are when you know fuck all about them.

OldCrone · 17/09/2021 12:22

@Barheim

I am calm. I'm also hostile, but given you're busy in campaigns to take away my dignity and human rights, deal with it.
What campaigns? Nobody is trying to take away your dignity and human rights.

There are, however, many people who are campaigning to remove dignity and human rights from women. See for example the Ed Davey radio interview this morning. The leader of the LibDems thinks that there should be no spaces which are not open to people of the male sex.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4351322-Ed-Davy-on-R4-Today-there-should-not-be-safe-places-for-women

You really need to get your facts right about who is trying to remove human rights from whom.

Helleofabore · 17/09/2021 12:17

Thanks Red. There is plenty of truth in that post.

Helleofabore · 17/09/2021 12:16

Ahhhh.... cross posted with Arabella

Helleofabore · 17/09/2021 12:16

@Quaggars

How is barheim being aggressive? It's a difference of opinion. That's not being aggressive!
There are some pretty derogatory generalisations and belittling going on...

And Barheim even told us.

I'm also hostile

Should we not believe someone when they tell us who they are?

Perhaps you missed the post where Barheim says they are hostile.

Well said, Red

That'll cover it.

💪red. Awesome post

RedToothBrush · 17/09/2021 11:59

I'm trans, am fully aware what the majority of you think of people of my demographic, and know the topics of discussion when you think no one else is reading.

I also haven't spent more than maybe a handful of hours here and that's solely because I'm hoping at least one of you isn't sucked into this ridiculous sell-your-own-home-for-the-cause-and-live-off-carbonara cult.

I don't know what you say about me and think of me because I can't be arsed to look for myself - but I'll make a point of telling you that I know you all hate me because someone told me rather than me making the effort to find out for myself. Cos I'd rather believe that than give people a chance, whilst expecting those people to give me a chance whilst I slag them off.

And you say we are the ones who do the pre judging (prejudice)?

And you wonder why you get short shrift when what you tell us we are is a complete load of cobblers that you've been fed by someone else. Because it aligns with you pre held beliefs.

Its funny, my sibling's partner decided my husband was transphobic. This is why he didn't want to meet my husband or me. And i was supposed to merrily just accept this and accept them into my family when they'd actively gone out of their way to poison my whole family against my husband. It was madness. But definitely eye opening.

And this is what pisses me off. We are supposed to be the ignorant ones. We are supposed to be bigotted and know nothing. Our life experiences are worthless. We are supposed to suck up abuse and people deliberately abusing the system to harm us - and we are supposed to say hell yes, lets remove the few protections we have rather than having a sit down discussion about where there are problems and concerns and we need to work better to recognise where harm - to everyone and all people - is being done. And instead we must put others ahead of us even if it hurts and harms us?

Address the issues and work with us rather than labelling us the problem and shitting all over us because youve been told by someone we are horrible and not worthy of anything.

Basically get up off your lazy arse, engage your brain and do some thinking of your own for once rather than relying on what others have told you.

You might find it actually turns out to be a load of rot.

WarriorN · 17/09/2021 11:57

I don't use the GC term as a label for this very reason.

It was the best way for Maya to win but it's created this idea that we are an ideology to be "counter attacked."

TempsPerdu · 17/09/2021 11:50

I’m not a regular poster on these boards (frequent reader with interest and admiration however! Smile) But I’ve been a Lib Dem member since 2015 and was recently approached to stand as a local councillor.

On the back of Ed Davey’s comments this morning I’ve just cancelled my party membership. I’m aligned with the Lib Dems on many other issues, but I won’t lend my support, even tacitly, to any party that persists in throwing women’s sex-based rights under the bus. And I’m sure I’m far from alone among the voting population.

Sorry, but this really does show you own deep prejudice and I understand that you feel that it is a well justified prejudice, but you do need to acknowledge it is there and perhaps it is not as justified as you think.

I'd be surprised from your previous posting history that you do know that the majority think here. I suspect you'd be just as mistaken about that as you are saying when you think no one else is reading.

Perhaps you have not read widely enough to realise regular posters carefully craft their posts to be read by the great many lurkers that read these threads.

Hence why we keep asking for evidence and support for posters opposing our arguments. Not only do we want to see the evidence for our own benefit, but we genuinely want lurkers to read and make up their own minds and maybe feel confident enough to post and ask more questions. Questions that challenge those who had not thought of that aspect or seen that evidence before.

So, no. I don't believe many posters who spend enough time on here to be conversant with current events believes that posters 'think no one else is reading'. FFS every single thing we post is monitored by twitter and moderated by MN moderators. (And pp's are correct, regulars would never get away with the aggression that seems to underline your posts or the generalisations that you make. Why is that?)

because I'm hoping at least one of you isn't sucked into this ridiculous sell-your-own-home-for-the-cause-and-live-off-carbonara cult.

What a pretty damning thing to say really and it just reeks of that prejudice you have. But anyway, as has been said time and time again, the very best way to stop someone being 'sucked into this ridiculous sell-your-own-home-for-the-cause-and-live-off-carbonara cult' is to present a coherent argument with evidence to support your assertion. That would make a great deal of difference.

Tangledtresses · 17/09/2021 11:09

@eurochick

Maybe we could have "cunts with cunts" as our mantra?
I'm getting that on a t shirt 😀😀
ArabellaScott · 17/09/2021 11:08

Just stumbled on this, thought it might be useful for anyone feeling at the mercy of their emotions.

'emotions are guesses that your brain constructs in the moment'

and 'you have more control over those guesses than you might imagine you do'.
