The GC what now? Are we the cult?

Twice in the last week or so I've read TRA posts on twitter saying GC fems are a cult. Despite the fact the movement begs for debate and sunlight. No secrecy or pushing for kids to hold secrets from their families.

Is this the latest in "I know you are but what am I" or has this been a claim all along and I haven't noticed?

@AlfonsoTheMango

I'm hurt that no one asked me to join their cult. I never get invited to anything.
Between this and the cheques we're meant to get from ummm the right or the Westboro Baptist church or more generally a religion I'm feeling left out. Skint and just not invited out. Sigh.

And knowing that the stress of all this has cost him work, peace of mind and his marriage, we GC feminists have a lot of respect for the sacrifices he’s made in the name of women’s rights and free speech etc. Seeing the lengths some of those loons will go to to punish dissenters, he’s put himself in a vulnerable position but he won’t back down while the house is still on fire!

PermanentTemporary · 16/09/2021 22:48

I'll admit that seeing someone who's a big name like Glinner not just going along with all thos helped me feeling I wasn't going mad to think none of this made sense.

TheHouseIsOnFire · 16/09/2021 22:45

@Lessthanaballpark

I think it’s a commonly held opinion because a RL friend said that “Glinner got the women at mumsnet all riled up”.

What did Glinner do to us exactly? Was there an incident?

Pretty sure we all just saw some tweets and said “oh that guy gets it” and then saw the backlash he got for it and decided that anyone who puts their head above the parapet to stick up for women’s rights must be an ok sort. He’s not exactly David Koresh in this scenario is he?! Just a plain speaking fella who won’t be silenced by the cunts / cult / activists on the other side of the #no debate
Ereshkigalangcleg · 16/09/2021 21:39

Are we the baddies?

Yes Mishy, you are.

PermanentTemporary · 16/09/2021 21:38

It isn't a bloody cult belief that there are two sexes and that it has consequences for life. Jesus.

I'll never forget the shiver down my spine when I saw 'assigned by a health professional at birth' as a definition of sex. In a real document, issued by the Government. This total nonsense. Who's in a cult again?

RedToothBrush · 16/09/2021 21:36

The number one sign of a cult is deterring critical thought.

If you are encouraged to think critically and to ask questions, you are highly unlikely to be in a cult.

I rest my case... and leave it to you to decide.

WeeBisom · 16/09/2021 21:21

My favourite piece of projection is that we are a cult because GC women have lost friends and acquaintances due to not agreeing with trans theory. But...cults are the ones that refuse to let their members interact with non believers and "suppressive persons"! I've met people who lost their entire family and all their friends because they disagreed with the teachings of Jehovah's witnesses. For this analogy to make sense, GC people would need to refuse to interact with and remain friends with TRAs. But it's the other way around. We lose friends and family because we are deemed dangerous to the ideology. So the ones who are acting like the cult are the TRAs.

ArabellaScott · 16/09/2021 21:15

Yes, Fitt, but it wasn't difficult to find the woman behind the Twitter name. As I said, I don't think she's very well, so not going to share her name here. I hope she has lots of support around her.

ReeseWitherfork · 16/09/2021 21:11

He asked Mumsnet to lobby the national lottery fund to undo their decision to give money to Mermaids.

Doesn't take much to rile us up though. He could have just as easily posted about his neighbours parking with a diagram. And no one talks about cults in those scenarios.

Fitt · 16/09/2021 21:05

Maggie Tulliver, former cunt cult member, is book character, the protagonist of The Mill on the Floss.

ArabellaScott · 16/09/2021 20:59

Mind-numbing techniques (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, debilitating work routines) are used to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s)

You do want to watch out for the speaking in tongues, though. Can't get a sensible word out of anyone on FWR post 10.30pm on a Friday, it's all glossolalia and vaginal chanting.

PaleGreenGhost · 16/09/2021 20:59

@MishyJDI

Are we the baddies? Never has a skit been so apt!
Nothing so bad as a cunty woman that says "no" is there? A woman that refuses to conform to the gender stereotype of shut up, put up & put out?
PaleGreenGhost · 16/09/2021 20:57

One viewpoint says "read our books and burn their books".

The other viewpoint says "read both books".

Which viewpoint sounds like the cult / wrong side of history there I wonder?

ArabellaScott · 16/09/2021 20:56

Aye, we're all 'baddies' Mishy, and it's way past your bedtime.

FlyingOink · 16/09/2021 20:56

I wonder why there are so few "peak GC" stories and so many of the opposite.

Zandathepanda · 16/09/2021 20:54

I have shelf of biology textbooks and even my old PSHE ones on teaching puberty that doesn’t mention gender at all. Am I at a higher level?

HatsOnHatsOff · 16/09/2021 20:48

Cunty cult GrinGrinGrin

EarthSight · 16/09/2021 20:40

@TheWeeDonkey

😀 cult

Haha well that's new. From my old Twitter days it was more often cunt.

I like "cult with cunts" 😂
Or cult of cunts?
Cunty cult? Thats a good one 😂

@TheWeeDonkey

I like A Cult of Cunts - sound like a book title
Also I like Cunty Cult 😂

MishyJDI · 16/09/2021 20:36

Waitwhat23 · 16/09/2021 19:58

@ArabellaScott

What I do think is funny is that we are generally not allowed to use the word 'cult' in this forum.

Only if it's directed towards feminists, that seems to be fine!

Agreed. I've seen posts hinting in a very vague, non specific (or non general way - mustn't forget the rules!) that gender ideology's mantras, silencing of dissenting voices and insistence of complete capitulation to a idea might bear some resemblance to a cult, deleted within minutes. But it's directed at 'GC's' - it's totally fine!

Waiting for the inevitable, hypocritical deletion....

OldTurtleNewShell · 16/09/2021 18:50

Ha ha. Yes, it's a massive projection.
I'm always amused at the claim that Glinner is somehow our leader as if they find it impossible to comprehend how women might have an opinion without a man telling them what it is.
Always so revealing.

dangerrabbit · 16/09/2021 18:32

Greetings, fellow cult members 🤗

Jaysmith71 · 16/09/2021 18:32

But we don't even have a mantra!

Aren't they an endangered species?
