From a London-centric Englishwoman's POV, what I read about NS and her government (admittedly in biased London-centric media) is that she's gone batshit for this when the ordinary Scot doesn't GAF. This poll confirms it. There isn't a mandate, or enough public interest, for her to keep pursuing this. Like Scottish Independence

Milady I know for sure that my SNP MSPs will give not one shiny shit about my views on the matter (or anyone else's either, really) but they need to know how constituents feel.

This is a vote loser.

The vast majority of voters think it's irrelevant at best, damaging at worst.

Elected representatives are supposed to represent their constituents. That's part of their job.

Why , out of all the SNP's dangerous and damaging policies, and shambolic running of Scotland is this one getting singled out?

I find it quite annoying that I'm now being lectured at by feminists that I must oppose this, when it wasn’t that long ago that the same feminists were lauding Sturgeon.

You're on a feminist board, and you're on a thread about this particular issue.

I didn't get a reply from my SNP MSP regarding the Lamont amendment. However, the SNP changed their position and voted for the amendment, so perhaps we shouldn't give up sending these emails even if we receive no reply.

I'm not sure that writing to my MSPs will have an effect, given that they have largely ignored my previous letters. I think that public demonstrations and public awareness raising.

I saw on Twitter that one of the grassroots women's groups were on the streets in Ayr and that the response was generally 1) supportive or 2) previously unaware but concerned. I think this is what it is going to take. The media are not covering it it adequately to move people to concern.

I got my first passport a few years back. The process I was put through to confirm that I was the real Purgatory, and I wasn't someone posing as me to eliminate identity fraud, was meticulous. The final part was an in-person interview with a complete stranger who lobbed off-the-wall questions at me for an interminable amount of time.

Presumably it was to stop me giving someone a paper cut with my new passport. Odd precaution, seeing as it has rounded corners, but anyway. Very kind of the passport office to worry.

How are birth certificates "dangerous"? No one carries their birth certificate with them nor does it have any real day to day use. What are the concerns about birth certificates and children? Did it give them paper cuts? Choking hazard? Slip hazard?
Also someone please explain how a birth certificate puts anyone at risk?
Anyone care to share their experience of how someone else's birth certificate put them at risk.

The same way any kind of identification document with falsehoods on it puts other people at risk.
