I saw a tweet saying that this is so - can’t see anything else though.

Tell me it’s not true...

@littlbrowndog

Of all the things I have done as a teenager having a double mastectomy was never ever ever thought off

No one even thought of this

Imagine 10 years ago no one would off thought that girls would be having double mastectomy. And no one is blinking an eye

Not politicians not the media not the NHS

You can go on the radio and tell Scotland you are doing this and no one says. Oi hang on a minute. Why would chopping bits off your body make you feel better

It’s fucking unbelievable

I didn't know what it was called

I did have a razor blade for model making

littlbrowndog · 07/09/2021 19:25

And this

Scotland to go ahead with self-ID? In the name of the wee man...
littlbrowndog · 07/09/2021 19:25

Because of men amortentia

But no one would have said yeah. Let’s give you a double mastectomy

Actually I’d have jumped at the chance. But, I developed at 11 and had a tiny body and very large breasts. I spent most days feeling like I was under siege because I couldn’t get the bus to school without being harassed by men. I spent years despising my body because of the way men treated me. I feel desperately sad that this teen feels they have to resort to this to feel comfortable in their own body.

I had an Italian school mum friend when DS was little. She used to glumly say that she was so embarrassed by Berlusconi and the Italian gvt.

Then Trump came along and we used to commiserate with the American mums...

Scotland is one of the few countries that we get to laugh at.

Amortentia · 07/09/2021 18:52

It’s not just the SNP who supports this. Alex Cole Hamilton got up and said we should copy Ireland, they’ve had no problems at all according to him. 🙄

@Wandawide

Bad Joke coming:- Well at least the English will be able to see how it works out. Scotland becomes a workshop for practical Woke.
And we all need to be clear that English, Northern Irish and Welsh men will be using this to self ID their way into women's spaces. This will not only apply to Scottish men.
NewMutiny · 07/09/2021 18:42

If you change the meaning of the word 'women's self ID doesn't change 'women's' protections at all does it? It might change what was offered to the old meaning of 'women' but look into the eyes, not at the hands...

Mendacious cunts.

CharlieParley · 07/09/2021 18:33

The First Minister said she understood some people had “sincerely held concerns”, and insisted the changes would not remove any legal protections women currently had.

Interesting to note that "some people" has risen from around a third of all submissions to the first consultation to just under half this time (and that was many more responses).

And "some people" also includes the vast majority of women's groups who opposed the proposed changes to the GRA.

As for the changes not removing protections, even trans rights campaigners believe it would (namely those like Law Professor Alex Sharpe who argued that males with a GRC cannot be excluded from female-only spaces for any reason).

And the FM's feeble claim has been resoundly rejected by a number of legal experts as well as frontline workers and women's rights campaigners. With evidence of places where these proposals were enshrined in law and where it became clear that the legal protections women had, had in practice and sometimes in law been removed by enshrining self-id in law.

There's a part of me that wishes she would just own it. She's decided that there's a group worthier of protection than women and girls and that's that. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, she will do this and thereby elevate Scotland into the ranks of the few countries in the world that have enshrined the doctrine of gender identity in law by allowing self-determination of legal sex.

Radio 4 PM just ended an item on her priorities by mentioning this and then saying something like, 'she [feminist to her fingertips Nic] will face opposition from the Scottish Parliament and wider society'.

Gosh, that was honest BBC. I think Nic isn't expecting that though, other than from right wing transphobes. Maybe it will WAKE. HER.THE. FUCK.UP.

@MiladyBerserko

Where are the Consultation responses Nicola?

Your government promised that they would be published, but instead have merely 'summarised' the private responses from individual women and attempted to put a spin on the results, citing self declared 'feminists' who are happy to give away the rights of women to males.

I would bet my left ear that the vast majority of responses SHOW clearly that women oppose this legislation and that it will have serious detrimental effect on their public life. THIS is why they are not being published.

Many women, myself included, testified their trauma and declared themselves willing to have their testimonies published, so fearful were we about the impact of self ID on our own and other women's lives. You have buried these testimonies. Furthermore, personal details are now known to the very many trans rights activists in your administration, many of whom frequently call women like us bigots on Twitter etc. I knew that was a risk, but I took the risk because the responses were to be published. This was a lie.

I will be investigating if this can be legally challenged.

@Cismyfatarse

Transman, Dylan, on BBC Radio Scotland just now (5.30-5.45 ish - was driving) who is getting hormones, in spite of being 16/17 from Gender GP.

Not sure how to link but it is heartbreaking and very much confirmed my worries about the effect this will have on young girls.

Wants a double mastectomy ("top surgery") before Uni to be "my authentic self"). Keeping it secret where going abroad for surgery as not allowed until 18 in England.

Helen Webberley doing her thing online and providing the hormones.

So shocked and appalled that this is seen as care for someone who is still so young.

I think Dylan is better described as a transboy. They do seem terribly young, much younger than most kids of that age.

She is planning “ top surgery “ aboard very soon. I missed the start of the interview but it should be on BBC Sounds shortly if anyone else what’s to listen. It’s appalling and sad.

littlbrowndog · 07/09/2021 17:55
