I saw a tweet saying that this is so - can’t see anything else though.

Tell me it’s not true...

I am trying to stay positive and hope that the tide is turning and we just need to keep raising awareness as I am sure that once the general public really understand what this means they will be horrified.

@Waitwhat23

Someone on another thread said that they had suspicions that money and power is being traded in some way. Two years ago, I would have considered that a ridiculous conspiracy theory. Now? I'm not so sure.
There's definitely something going on behind the scenes. The "youth vote" isn't that large a percentage of the population and they don't have much money to help prop up political parties. I just hope whatever it is comes out in full, and in mainstream media before this bill becomes law. There is a lot of dodgy stuff going on in the SNP which may or may not be related.

I wrote to all MSPs when the GRA was first mooted. Not one single one replied

I suspect that emails are vetted before they reach MSPs.

@MiladyBerserko

Where are the Consultation responses Nicola?

Your government promised that they would be published, but instead have merely 'summarised' the private responses from individual women and attempted to put a spin on the results, citing self declared 'feminists' who are happy to give away the rights of women to males.

I would bet my left ear that the vast majority of responses SHOW clearly that women oppose this legislation and that it will have serious detrimental effect on their public life. THIS is why they are not being published.

Many women, myself included, testified their trauma and declared themselves willing to have their testimonies published, so fearful were we about the impact of self ID on our own and other women's lives. You have buried these testimonies. Furthermore, personal details are now known to the very many trans rights activists in your administration, many of whom frequently call women like us bigots on Twitter etc. I knew that was a risk, but I took the risk because the responses were to be published. This was a lie.

I will be investigating if this can be legally challenged.

They are beneath contempt Milady, I have no idea how that absolute shower of mendacious fuckers can sleep at night ThanksThanksThanks

I think if there's a second Independence referendum, the pro-indy parties are going to get a nasty shock. I voted yes in 2014. Campaigned and debated. No fucking way would I say yes now.

My entire family has resigned their membership of the SNP in protest at this crap. We're not the only ones by any means.

Rhannion · 07/09/2021 21:58

@EdgeOfACoin

I'm in England but I genuinely don't understand why so many Scots want independence under the SNP. Its attitude towards women is outrageous. Its authoritarianism everywhere else is frightening. If one of those things didn't put me off, the other would.
Frankly I don’t want independence under any political party, that’s my view. I would say about 40% of the women I have spoken say the same, and the rest are pro independence or undecided. Many , many former SNP supporters are angry, disappointed and feel played by Sturgeon and her crew, and rightly feel that women’s rights are far more important than independence.
Hopesakiller · 07/09/2021 21:48

As women weren't deemed worthy of legal protection against hate given to others she couldn't take that off us. Maybe her plan is not to remove women's legal protection but to give the rest of society more to firmly secure our second class status

KittenKong · 07/09/2021 21:48

So Ch4 news coverage of this - didn’t mention it al all. Gits...

Lorna Slater only got 13.1% of the vote in her own constituency i.e. people who have had dealings with her, received election material etc.

She is also co - leader of the Greens. A party which got 8 seats.

KittenKong · 07/09/2021 21:39

How? So that’s their parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings, their partners and pals.

@littlbrowndog

Gawd. Off to do a bit off gaming. Am a wee bit cross but get banned again
Radio 1 today

There are no women in the top 300 gamers
The highest is at about 336
But the highest born female gamer is ranked below 600

The ( female ) interviewed seemed to say ) 10 second clip ) that sexual disrespect was behind much of the discrepancy .. kind of off putting

Which isn't affecting the trans individual it seems

littlbrowndog · 07/09/2021 21:19

Me too

Living in a country where drug deaths alcohol deaths can’t get a dentist educational gap between poor and rich is the way it is

Yet we have this wankery from sturgeon

Rhannion · 07/09/2021 21:06

@Childrenofthestones

Scotland is one of the few countries that we get to laugh at.
I’m Scottish , we try to laugh but we are screaming inside.
Rhannion · 07/09/2021 21:04

@KittenKong

The time has come for my brother, brother in law and male cousins to rediscover their inner lassie... and cause havoc and mischief.

My grandfather would have had a bloody field day and would have really enjoyed it all (he hated bullies, was very assertive and had a wicked sense of humour). I’m not sure what dad would have thought - probably bemused (he didn’t ‘do’ angry).

You are spot on, we need men to stand with us on this. It effects their mums, wives, sisters, daughters and grandchildren.
OvaHere · 07/09/2021 21:03

They're taking a gamble that tomorrow's adults won't be completely over this shit by then.

I can remember Cool Britannia and Tony Blair when they were really popular.

DdraigGoch · 07/09/2021 20:59

@KittenKong

Who exactly is she trying to appease. Because 13 year olds don’t have the vote.
Yet...
WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 07/09/2021 20:56

The SNP have always chased the youth vote. Risk takers. They even lowered the voting age in a hope of getting independence through
I think they are terrified of losing that vote. NS video apologising to trans was embarrassing. She was apologising for saying that a raped woman should be able to chose a same sex HCPShock

Malcom Clark has done something interesting twitter threads on this very subject and how various countries have used it as cover for other things.

Don't have to wait until you go to Uni. The age at which you can change sex on your birth certificate is 16. You can become a person of the opposite sex before you get your Highers.

KittenKong · 07/09/2021 20:31

I just don’t understand why they are doing this. I assume it’s financial or vote chasing.

So 3 months - your kid Freda could go off to uni in Scotland (and I stated uni at 17) from anywhere and come back at the end of the term Fred. Would this be even be seen as a legal state elsewhere? What does the law say?

Or is it only redefining ‘woman’
