Has Sally Hines been on the sauvignon blanc again, or is she really the most anti woman 'gender studies academic' in the history of women bashing?

Shocking. And wtf are the (currently) 168 people who liked this tweet.

How can anyone brush off rape as an annoyance or 'bad sex'. I'm astounded.

She's an idiot. It's heartening to see the number of men calling her out on it.

There are a couple of women defending her- including one who commented that Greer has come out with similar points in the past.

I’ve only really come across this academic on here, so am taking these tweets on face value. And they are very odd. There is something in there that is undeniable - not all rape involves strangers or fits popular narratives - but the phrasing is off. I don’t actually understand what message she’s trying to convey (that sometimes rape isn’t a big deal? Or the opposite - that ‘bad sex’ can actually be rape and that is a big deal?) and the second sentence of the second tweet is especially opaque.

I’d expect a specialist in this area tweeting to a mass audience about such a sensitive topic to much better at communicating than this.
