LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

@FloralBunting

I wonder what Owen Jones makes of seeing a gay man bullied at pride? He is one of those who screams “transphobic” at anyone who wants to debate issues like elite women’s sport, women’s spaces etc.

Oh, sanctimonious morph fucking loved it. He was delighted and then decided to issue an edict to the media that LGB Alliance don't speak for any lesbians, gay men or bisexual people. Pompous windbag.

So bloody depressing. I used to admire him, for his take and writing on Politics. He’s gone right down the rabbit hole now 😟

LGB Alliance was set-up NOT to support LGB people, but to attack trans people, help strip them of rights and to thwart any progress they might make.

Where's your evidence for this? Always best to be sure you have the evidence to back these sort of claims before just throwing it out there. People have been prosecuted for less. I'm looking forward to seeing your evidence...

BigNothing · 29/08/2021 18:23

So your argument is it's anti trans because other people have said it's anti-trans
Are you able to reason for yourself?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGB_Alliance

Find anything they have doen to help Gays, Lesbians or Bisexuals there. Unless it's in regards to Trans issues.

wiki:
The LGB Alliance is a British charity and advocacy group founded in 2019 by Bev Jackson and Kate Harris in opposition to LGBT rights charity Stonewall's policies on transgender issues.[1] The LGB Alliance describes their mission as "asserting the right of lesbians, bisexuals and gay men to define themselves as same-sex attracted", and state this right is threatened by "attempts to introduce confusion between biological sex and the notion of gender".[1] They also oppose gender identity education in schools,[2] pharmaceutical treatment of children for gender dysphoria[3] and gender recognition reform.[4]

The group has been described by the Labour Campaign for Trans Rights group, in a statement signed by a number of Labour MPs including current Deputy Leader Angela Rayner and by SNP MP John Nicolson, as transphobic,[5][6][7] and by articles in two scholarly journals as "trans-exclusionary".[8][9]

The group was granted charitable status by the Charity Commission in April 2021, albeit not without controversy.[10]

Media coverage and criticism
The group has been described as a hate group by Pride in London, Pride in Surrey, the LGBT+ Liberal Democrats, the Labour Campaign for Trans Rights, the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain,[35] barrister Jolyon Maugham and the journalist Owen Jones.[36][37][38][39] After the Alliance was granted the status of charity, the UK Pride Organisers Network released an open letter signed by over 50 LGBT+ Pride groups across the UK condemning the decision, stating that "we know the LGB Alliance does not promote equality, diversity, and human rights."[40]

In December 2020 John Nicolson, member of parliament for Ochil and South Perthshire, described the group as "sinister"[2] and said that it was absurd for the BBC to rely on "transphobic groups like the so-called LGB Alliance" to give balance on reports about trans issues, saying "you would never do a report on racism, for example, and call in a racist organisation to say that they don't think black people have a right to equality".[7] Dame Melanie Dawes, chief executive of Ofcom, agreed, saying quoting the group was "entirely inappropriate".[7] Rob Jessel and Helen White of lobby group Fair Cop,[45] which used the hashtag "SayYesToHate" on social media,[46] responded with an article in The Critic, in which they called Nicolson's characterization of the LGB Alliance "lazy slander".[47] The LGB Alliance later published correspondence from Ofcom in which the regulator said 'on the issue of Ofcom's interactions with Stonewall and the LGB Alliance, Ofcom has never stated or otherwise implied that "it is appropriate to talk to Stonewall and inappropriate to talk to LGB Alliance"'.[48]

The Alliance has been described as trans-exclusionary in articles published in the journals Metaphilosophy and the Journal of Gender Studies.[8][9] A statement from the Labour Campaign for Trans Rights group calling LGB Alliance transphobic and trans-exclusionist was signed by some candidates in the 2020 party leadership elections, including Angela Rayner who was elected deputy leader.[6][49] The group has also been described as "anti-trans" by the Trade Union Congress. [50]

The TUC has probably been 'captured.' And all of these criticisms are unfounded, for some reason I suppose.

BigNothing · 29/08/2021 18:14

Choosing to call yourself a "queer heterosexual" is explicitly stating that biological sex, rather than gender, is important in your choosing a sexual partner, isn't it?
So why does this activist get to choose but wants to bully others for doing likewise?

Is it because she's heterosexual and they're not?

LGB Alliance was set-up NOT to support LGB people, but to attack trans people, help strip them of rights and to thwart any progress they might make.

And I expect many people here know that, and support those aims.

Bilinda! How pleasant to see you! You seem to have missed my post asking you if you still think some types of clothing invite violence.

Could I have a reply, please?

Jaysmith71 · 29/08/2021 18:12

The BilindaB argument is like saying that the Women's Football Association (1969-1993) was set up to destroy men's football.

Once the FA lifted its ban on women playing the game, the WFA merged with the FA.

I'm straight and even I'm too fucking angry at the shite being spouted on here to write anything.

joystir59 · 29/08/2021 18:10

And what pisses me off about woke trans activists is that scratch the surface and they are very conservative fearful heterosexuals who know fuck all about same sex attraction or experience.

joystir59 · 29/08/2021 18:08

T has nothing to do with LGB. LGB is to do with same sex attraction. Nothing to do with gender identity. Trans gender ideology discounts innate biological reality. LGB is all about innate biological reality.

Unfortunately for the authoritarian bullying mob, the Charity Commission isn't Twitter, and saw right through these types of bullshit claims, so...stay mad, homophobes 🤷

Unsurprisingly he thinks it great thing to have happened.

He expressed approval of it.

I think we will have to continue to wait, we have still had no evidence from pages back.

Just empty assertions that never get answered.

No it wasn't. Just stop with the shit. You are being completely hateful now. You are the ones spreading hate, no one else.

This.

FloralBunting · 29/08/2021 18:05

How is doing that attacking or stripping trans people of their rights?

It looks suspiciously like an admission that legally protected same-sex attraction is an attack on 'trans rights' which would be a harmful suggestion that I'm sure a lot of trans people would find a problem, too.

Unless the poster is outright admitting that their version of 'trans rights' is diametrically opposed to women's and LGB rights, which I think a lot of us had already twigged, hence, here we are.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/08/2021 18:05

I've had a look at them on Twitter as I saw them trending earlier - if it's about LGB, why is literally none of their timeline about anything LGB and all to do with people who are trans?

Then you must have seen this retweeted thread on their timeline?

thread

Seeing the LGB Alliance slandered as a “hate group” is particularly baffling to me because they supported me when nobody else would.

When I first started talking about my detransition, I was met with a deluge of insults and threats. I was piled on and told to disappear.

1/

When I spoke of how my same-sex attraction contributed to my transition, I was called a liar.

The LGB Alliance invited me to their event in Glasgow and embraced me, telling me I had nothing to be ashamed of.

That I didn't deserve to be insulted, threatened or silenced.

2/

The LGBA knew that inviting a detransitioner to their event would be used against them as “proof” they're “transphobic” - despite the fact that while I was at their event, I met and befriended some wonderful and equally supportive trans women.

I felt so safe at their event.

3/

At a time when I was being bullied into believing that my very existence as a detrans woman was “hateful,” the LGB Alliance took me in and told me, as a detrans woman and a bisexual, I had the same right as everybody else to have a voice.

They showed love, not hate.

4/

So, thank you, @ALLIANCELGB

You were there for me when I needed someone most and I'll forever be thankful for the love and kindness you showed me and the other dysphoric people at your event.

Here you are @NoNotMeNoSiree.

lgballiance.org.uk/about/

This seems to be all about LGB rights.

I can see the parts you might object to as a genderist, though. They don't agree with those who want to trans away the gay:

We work to protect children from harmful, unscientific ideologies that may lead them to believe either their personality or their body is in need of changing. Any child growing up to be lesbian, gay or bisexual has the right to be happy and confident about their sexuality and who they are.

But the focus here is on protecting children who might grow up to be lesbian, gay or bisexual, it's not an attack on trans people.

I suppose you might also not like this:

We stand with lesbians in rejecting pressure to accept as sexual partners, or admit into lesbian spaces, males who define themselves as women. We stand with gay men in rejecting pressure to accept as sexual partners, or admit into gay men’s spaces, females who define themselves as men.

But again, the focus is on the right of lesbians and gay men to be same-sex attracted. It's not an attack on trans people.

OvaHere · 29/08/2021 18:04

Stonewall actively campaigned to have the protected characteristic of sex removed from the Equality Act. That's the very definition of trying to remove rights.

Had they succeeded I have no doubt they would have moved onto the protected characteristic of sexual orientation because both those characteristics are considered transphobic and stand in the way of everything being about gender and self identity.

It shouldn't be surprising to anyone that this egregious land grab by Stonewall and others has resulted in a grass roots resurgence of both women's and LGB groups.
