Gay man 'bullied' off Manchester Pride for wearing LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt

LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

Fwiw, I've wheeled around from fucking livid at the anti-gay bigotry back to laughing my arse off at the intellectual buffoonery of using Wiki as a credible source. Go on, have you got a Daily Star article you can point to as well? Did your mate's mate from Chichester hear something well dodgy too? Utter shite.

Jaysmith71 · 29/08/2021 18:48

Wow!

Here's what wiki says about the Thoery of Mind:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_mind

The idea that people you disagree with secretly know you are right is pretty psychotic.

Helleofabore · 29/08/2021 18:47

I am experiencing deja vu. Any one else?

littlbrowndog · 29/08/2021 18:46

Ta potholes. Awesome post 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♀️🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

John Mac Donald SNP. He says everything that he doesn’t agree with is transphobic

The mans a tube

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 29/08/2021 18:46

@BilindaB

There's no point present further evidence and proof to those who already know they are primarily an anti-trans group, but they like that, but won't admit it.
You haven’t presented anything yet
AlfonsoTheMango · 29/08/2021 18:45

@BilindaB

LGB Alliance was set-up NOT to support LGB people, but to attack trans people, help strip them of rights and to thwart any progress they might make.

And I expect many people here know that, and support those aims.

The wikipedia article you quote doesn't support the claims you made.

BlindaB your evidence is a page from WikipediaHmm full of they said????

Ffs, this is the best you can do?

[quote PurgatoryOfPotholes]Here's a great thread analysing the situation from a legally qualified gay man on twitter.

thread

🧵1/ Let us be clear. If you're condoning what happened at Manchester Pride this is what you're endorsing. Alexander had his hat stolen from his head. That's the crime of robbery. He was hounded by a mob, that's various public order offences.

2/ He was denied the right to participate in gay political activity because he supports a registered Charity the Commission responsible said categorically is not a "hate group". So you're supporting breaching his human rights to freedom of thought and expression.

3/ Because he's a gay man going to gay pride you're also targeting a person on the basis of their same sex attraction which is a protected characteristic by s.12 of the Equality Act 2010.

4/ Because you're targeting this gay man because he believes something he's entitled to (because democracies don't have state mandated beliefs) you're also harassing him for the s.9 protected characteristic of belief.

5/ More generally, you're now part of a mob. It's an online mob and it's doing digital queer bashing. You've likely been radicalised by "no debate" so now you simply can't function happily with democratic norms.

6/ What you're supporting is something that has (rightly) utterly horrified people outside the gender debate. You're supporting a brave man just trying to exercise freedom of speech being terrified by a mob. This is how tyrannies start.

7/ They start with people like you sweeping serious crimes and breaches of human rights aside "for the greater good". People are watching this and we've had enough of this petty dictatorship.

8/ #HatsAgainstHate - Alexander's hat was stolen - show your support for @ALLIANCELGB, use this appalling event to strengthen the only charity that actually supports same sex attracted people.

Well that pretty much covers all of it.

Thank you for sharing that Potholes , perfect summary.

AfternoonToffee · 29/08/2021 18:36

@Theeyeballsinthesky

Well of course LGB alliance was set up to destroy trans rights! Did you not get the memo where Age UK was set up to destroy young people’s rights, the donkey sanctuary was set up to take down charities for horses and the RNIB exists to minimise the rights of ppl with hearing loss

I mean ffs!!

I'm just left wondering how Mermaids fits into this theory.
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/08/2021 18:36

I already found some on the LGB Alliance's own website, focusing on gay rights in Uganda. This is what is known as a primary source, whereas an article about LGBA on wikipedia is a secondary (in some cases, tertiary) source.

Now, Bilinda, you've said you're a feminist on threads passim, so I'd like to know whether you regret agreeing with that disgusting post earlier that suggested someone's clothes invited violence.

Jaysmith71 · 29/08/2021 18:35

A bit like a ManUtd shirt is Man City-exclusive in that no red would choose to wear it?

FloralBunting · 29/08/2021 18:34

Well, for the avoidance of all doubt, only women can be lesbians, and male people are never women, not even if they really want to be or truly believe they are.
So, no, 'transwomen' cannot be lesbians.

If a woman is transgender, that is she is female and believes she has a gender identity that over-rides that, she may be a lesbian.

But there are no male lesbians. Ever.

Call me transphobic. I don't fucking care, because disagreeing with what I've just written is dribbling, knuckle-dragging homophobia and I'll stand against it anywhere you care to name.

secular111 · 29/08/2021 18:34

The beating heart at the centre of the transgender cause is one powered by misogyny, racism and increasingly, homophobia.

If anything, with the rise of The New Homophobia, it seems that the pressure by TRA's and their allies is being applied right now to gay men, more than women, girls, bisexual women, black women and lesbians.

Quisling Jones may have decided to hitch himself to The New Homophobia wagon, and April 'Dachshund' Preston appears to have signed-up and is just waiting for the uniform, but I reckon it will be a step too far for many of the TRA allies.

Out-and-out misogyny? Yeah, I guess many of them could stomach that. The racism that TRA's repeatedly demonstrate, particularly aimed at black women? Yep, fine with that. Outright homophobia, with violence and a 'trans-away-the-gay' established message? Hum, maybe not. That could be just one too many a straw.

I suspect the LGB Alliance merchandise desk will be in full overdrive when it reopens after the Holiday.

I wonder how the suffragette colors will go with an LBG Alliance tee-shirt?

beastlyslumber · 29/08/2021 18:33

WTF is a "trans exclusive t-shirt"?

Is it any t-shirt that doesn't mention trans?

Is my Macmillan Cancer t-shirt "trans exclusive"?

Do you understand how absolutely mental you sound talking about "trans exclusive t-shirts"? They're t-shirts ffs. Mental.

AfternoonToffee · 29/08/2021 18:33

Even GCSE students are told not to use Wikipedia as a reliable source of information.

Wiki article seems confused. Says:

"The Alliance has stated that it believes that transgender women cannot be lesbians."

citation for above (Pink News) states:

"LGB Alliance says trans women can’t be lesbians..."

Not the same thing at all.

Helleofabore · 29/08/2021 18:28

I’m embarrassed on your behalf

Yes Rufus. Wikipedia no less! It is quite amazing just how much some people outsource the burden of thinking critically.

IsitM · 29/08/2021 18:28

Andrew Doyle will be talking about this on his 7pm show on GB News tonight, Free Speech Nation.

@BigNothing

So your argument is it's anti trans because other people have said it's anti-trans Are you able to reason for yourself?
Yep. A series of what other people said is not actually evidence.
OldCrone · 29/08/2021 18:25

Here's another link to their site @BilindaB, since you seem to have not seen my last one, and for some reason your search engine didn't manage to find it either.

lgballiance.org.uk/

You should be able to find all the information you need there, so that you don't have to rely on wikipedia, which is notoriously unreliable as an information source.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 29/08/2021 18:25

@BigNothing

Absolutely

So no proof

Just ‘someone’ said it

I’m embarrassed on your behalf

Wikipedia!

No, really?Grin
