Gay man 'bullied' off Manchester Pride for wearing LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt

LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

I think it must be the day for posters who’ve changed names to give themselves away, that’s the second today.

As if people couldn’t work it out anyway when posters have such distinctive styles and particular hobby horses 😂

Quaggersx · 29/08/2021 19:24

Oh really? I didn't realise. Now that is confusing.

BigNothing · 29/08/2021 19:23

I thought the original Quaagars was on this thread under a different name... Just to confuse things!

Quaggersx · 29/08/2021 19:23

I definitely prefer the rational version too, very refreshing

♥️

Quaggersx · 29/08/2021 19:22

They should be more supportive to? LGB?

AustralianDad7 · 29/08/2021 19:18

@Quaggersx

Transgender not necessarily gay and gay men not always effeminate.

Sorry, what's the point you are trying to make?

UCSF should be more supportive. (quote from their page) >>> The word ‘pride’ is an integral cultural concept within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex (LGBTQI) community, representing solidarity, collectivity, and identity as well as resistance to discrimination and violence. Its associated symbolism (e.g., rainbow colors) communicates to individuals that LGBTQI members are welcome as valuable members of the community.
Sophoclesthefox · 29/08/2021 19:18

I definitely prefer the rational version too, very refreshing. Lol (sic).

Anyway, I guess we are destined to wait in vain for the explanation of why LGBA are a hate group, and will wait still longer for an explanation of why a howling mob and theft are an appropriate reaction to a t shirt indicating support for same sex attraction.

It's a Red Dwarf quote, nothing to do with gaming.
You having a family history to a word Rimmer made up to describe aliens though I find cool though

Ahh ok. Sounds like this would be the perfect name for you then as well. But I got it first ☺️

Quaggersx · 29/08/2021 19:15

I'd got that from the very different perspective. I did a double take when I saw the name and a sensible post to go with it and wondered if I'd slipped into an alternate universe

Grin Gosh, I feel compelled to go and name search that person now. See what sort of things they say. 😲😂

@NoNotMeNoSiree

So anything that doesn't have a T on it is anti T is it?

Oh, come on.
Really?!
Of course it isn't.
Of course someone who is a lesbian can wear a tshirt celebrating being a lesbian.
Of course someone who is gay can wear a tshirt celebrating being gay.
You seriously can't see the difference between your examples and wearing an LGB tshirt which is trans exclusionary at an L G B T event?
(Highlighted T just because people keep conviently pretending it's not there.)
You really can't?
OK then.

Would it have been all right to go to Pride wearing a t-shirt from Mermaids or GIRES? They don't work for LGB people. You do know that before 2015 Stonewall didn't work for trans equality - its focus was LGB rights. Was that transphobic?

The chilling effect that a single person who wears a t-shirt and hat bearing the logo of a group that has trans supporters, but doesn’t centre their needs, is abused and targeted this way shows the degree of entitlement that group has. That they cannot see that they could have simply leave him be, even if he was yelling that gay men are same sex attracted to the crowd. They were a large group and a single person could easily be ignored. They chose not to.

A single person! Could you imagine if this happened to an individual trans rights protestor at a feminist event??

FloralBunting · 29/08/2021 19:12

@Quaggersx

No big deal. The other one would be more of the opinion that the silly gay man should have thought twice about what he was wearing if he didn't want to be shunned. You seem to have the sensible, non-twat opinion, so that's cool

Ooh that doesn't sound nice. I'm definitely not that one.

RedDogsBeg · 29/08/2021 19:12

Why is the concept of same sex attraction so difficult to understand? It is exactly what it says on the tin.

NonnyMouse1337 · 29/08/2021 19:11

Gender zealots are the same as the old school homophobes - they just have glitter on them.

Remember the old school homophobes? The types that would say - We don't hate gay people. They just shouldn't... you know.... talk about homosexuality so openly like that. It's unnatural.

21st century homophobia - Of course it's ok to be gay, just ..... you know...... don't talk about it openly like that. It's exclusionary.

Homosexuality is exclusively about same-sex attraction, and lesbians and gay men should not have to be quiet about their sexual orientation because homophobes think it's problematic. You can roll around in as much glitter as you like and wrap yourself up in rainbow flags. You're still a plain, old homophobe because you think same-sex attraction is disgusting and shouldn't be talked about openly.

BlackForestCake · 29/08/2021 19:11

There was a Celtic-Rangers game in Glasgow today and afterwards a mob of Rangers “fans” marched through the city centre singing a notorious anti-Catholic song which is banned at Rangers' own stadium, with the police, apparently, just looking on.

I wonder how far they'd have got if they'd been singing "men can't be lesbians".

Quaggersx · 29/08/2021 19:11

regardless of the name's origins, I like the cut of your jib

Thank you Grin

@Quaggersx

I mean it's a pretty random word if you don't know where it's from

I expect lots of names look like that if you don't know personal reasons behind them. And as you said, it's not spelt the same anyway as your warrior version. Presume that's some gaming thing. My version has a far more interesting history behind it. 😉 What made you choose your name?

aw, the funny man is funny. haha.

I'm off to cut my toenails.

@beastlyslumber

WTF is a "trans exclusive t-shirt"?

Is it any t-shirt that doesn't mention trans?

Is my Macmillan Cancer t-shirt "trans exclusive"?

Do you understand how absolutely mental you sound talking about "trans exclusive t-shirts"? They're t-shirts ffs. Mental.

If the father disappears after getting you pregnant is he a trans-parent?
FloralBunting · 29/08/2021 19:05

@Quaggersx

Although as any Quaagar Warrior knows it should be double A actually

I'm not a Quaagar warrior. Hope this helps.

I don't think there is a point, Quaggersx (BTW, you're not the other quaggers, are you? They had a very different perspective on all this.)

Is there another Quaggers? I didn't realise. Whoops.

No big deal. The other one would be more of the opinion that the silly gay man should have thought twice about what he was wearing if he didn't want to be shunned. You seem to have the sensible, non-twat opinion, so that's cool Grin
Quaggersx · 29/08/2021 19:05

The Quaggersx has an x on the end so I say wanted the name but it's already taken so put an x on the end

Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about. The name has personal meaning to me. ☺️ Did you want the name or something?

NoNotMeNoSiree · 29/08/2021 19:04

I'm not a Quagger Warrior hope that helps

Fair enough, I just thought with having that particular name you'd at least know what my quote was referring to, I mean it's a pretty random word if you don't know where it's from!
