Gay man 'bullied' off Manchester Pride for wearing LGB Alliance hat and t-shirt

LibDem activist delighted by this. Here are two of her tweets. The gay man who turned up in an LGB hat and t-shirt was allegedly advised by police to leave for his own safety and seems to have had the hat stolen.

Another young fool tweeted that 'bullying the guy in the LGB Alliance shirt who came to the protest march is my favourit part of Pride so far xx'. He has since deleted this (possibly because he is now sober and/or has seen how many people had reported this to his employers) and now claims he was just chanting 'Trans lives matter!'. 'Bullying' is an odd choice of words for this. How could anyone think admitting publicly to 'bullying' was a good look?

The LGB Alliance man has been advised that people shouting at him is actually assault if he wants to take it further. Doesn't sound like he does, though.

Unedifying, to say the least.

Ok for those accusing me of being a bot, "plop"ping and running, refusing to highlight the hate etc. Seriously just read back through the replies to my comments. There's your hate
I don't expect anything from anyone. Contrary to all your assumptions I am getting my child help from "real people".
Your assertions that there is support and help oozing from all corners of society is misplaced. The waiting list for the Gender Identity Clinics is currently 3 years. Suicide rates amongst Trans people is through the roof. My child gets so distressed it's hard to watch. I don't want your sympathy. I just was shocked reading so many of the snide and dismissive remarks about Trans people, I just wanted to say it was a shame, that's all

I am not homophobic and although I can't"prove it" as someone demanded. I will say that literally half my family are gay and I went on my first gay rights march at the age of 14 in the '70's. I also worked for decades in dance and theatre and would have had a very lonely experience if I was homophobic in any way. But no doubt I will now be accused of saying "some of my best friends..." etc.

I suppose I am naive and don't understand why people who have already gone through the struggle for rights and equality, wouldn't want to stand alongside those who are a few decades behind them. But you all have your reasons. And why an organisation like LGB Alliance would tweet something that lumped Trans people in with bestiality is beyond me. But there we are.

I really will bow out now because I will get nowhere that's plain.

Now you can tear apart everything I've said to your heart's content.

I mean, if it is a sexuality, then fine. That makes sense.

If it's an identity, like, I don't know - religious affiliation? social grouping? What other kinds of 'identity' are there? - then it has not really got anything to do with people who are organising for people with homosexual or bisexual sexualities, does it?

ArabellaScott · 30/08/2021 13:45

You cannot scrap them from the title, they are as much part of the title as the LG and B.

Never understood this, really. How are trans people affiliated with lesbians, gay men or bisexuals? Is 'trans' a sexuality?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/08/2021 13:43

Yes! In some places 'inclusive' is becoming the most hateful word of all!

Deliriumoftheendless · 30/08/2021 13:40

I keep reading that username as andrex.

I need an eye test.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/08/2021 13:39

@FloralBunting

Newsflash: Homosexuality is not inclusive.

No sexuality is inclusive. By its very nature, sexuality excludes. Lesbians and gay men are under no obligation whatsoever to include transactivists and their demands in our organizations or lives.

This needs to be said over and over again. There's some sort of hypnotic quality to the word 'inclusive'. Dictionary definitions are by their nature exclusive! If anything can mean anything, we can't communicate.

It's all baffling. It's like berating the RNLI for not including stranded mountaineers in the people they rescue, or the Battersea Dogs Home for not taking on retired racehorses.

andrelax your kid is fine. It was another parent's beautiful, special, brave kid that the mob turned on.
and that is what true hatred looks like, sounds like and is.

Everyone assuming we are raging homophobes is seriously demented

Nobody has to assume anything, the evidence is there in full view.

Indeed, but that's okay, acceptable and celebrated.

I don't know how the people who do this, condone it, advocate for it, celebrate it and justify it can live with themselves, the cognitive dissonance must be overwhelming.

Amen. And I noticed the poor bloke is a churchgoer too. He must have got it from all sides in his life Sad

💯
Quaggersx · 30/08/2021 13:31

Well of course. Hurty feelings on behalf of trans trumps homophobia every time.

It's outrageous. My child matters too. As do all gay people. 😡

Yep
FloralBunting · 30/08/2021 13:28

Maybe the concerned parent could identify as Graysexual or something and they could be a little rainbow family all their own or something. Why is it up to me?

merrymouse · 30/08/2021 13:28

I think I would avoid using this language, for example.

I'm fully expecting to have some of my posts deleted here, tbh. Not because they've broken any guidelines, but I do think it's likely that some mod will decide a lesbian rejecting emotional manipulation is 'not in the spirit'. Because that's how little faith I have in the decency of TRAs.

So what you're saying is, just go over there and be Trans in the corner by yourselves. We don't want anything to do with you lot. How inclusive.

I think we all need support from a large community of people who may or may not share our beliefs and political views, but who do respect our rights and boundaries.

The ‘rainbow family’ is not a real family. Your child needs support from real people, not a hashtag.

I'm bowing out of here now as this is truly horrible.

Yes it's horrible having to answer difficult questions honestly, isn't it? Cheerio!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 30/08/2021 13:19

So.. not able to quote hateful posts

Just pissed off because many here disagree so bloody eloquently.

Bank Holiday whataboutery, same as any other day!
