In this rush to join the GP to vote in a GC leader, I have a question. Given the apathy of political members (how few it took to get a man as head of the women's branch). The TRA's could equally be joining to tip the balance away from Shahrar Ali.

Even if Shahrar Ali was elected leader of the Green's, he would still have to get his policies voted through and that isn't a forgone conclusion to all of this. I do, however, have my fingers crossed.

I’ve just joined, then came here in the hope that I’d find others who have too!

While I do agree with most of this article and particularly about the dangers Patrick Harvie represents, I do take issue a bit with the following:
It is that they don’t want to build the economy. The Scottish Greens oppose growth. They would rather it shrank and all of us received just what they dictate we need to live on. One of the things the Greens are opposed to (and I agree), is that we cant just build back a carbon fuelled economy and that, if we really want to tackle the climate emergency, we are going to have to rein back consumerism. Looking at the idea of building a Green economy would be a very different thing but that isnt stated here.

talkingdeadscot · 18/08/2021 13:44

Me too, we shall see if there's any hope.

Alarming point in the strike letter about the Green Party voting system being flawed.

Interesting about Somerset Greens ' going on strike " over Emma Batemans suspension. Could local parties secede , so to speak , and run as Oxford Greens or Leeds Greens?

Several people are posting that they've joined, so the next few weeks will be interesting.

Q about voting: Have the Green Party got digital voting and if so, when is it used?

Why did so few members vote in the Spring conference?, "Out of a membership of over 50,000, fewer than one per cent voted at the conference. Voting was generally split as to 58% Gender Ideologist versus 42% Gender Critical voters" from happening in the Green Party?

I'm wondering whether it's worth joining and voting for Shahrar? I would love to find a political party I could get on board with

Yes, please do!

Two members of opposite sexes may together stand for the office of Leader in order to hold the post as a job share

Interesting - opposite sexes - that rules out Tamsin and Amelia then

More women saying they'll vote Green if SA is elected

@STILLTish "If he gets elected I will likely vote Green. I have voted Labour all my life but I won’t vote against my own interests again"

Good to know Warrior. Sarah Phillimore @SVPhillimore seems happy too "This is excellent news - not only for the large numbers of women now politically homeless, but for those of us facing disciplinary action for expressing the opinion that women have rights."
