I think I've figured out why the Guilty Feminists feel guilty...

@Glinner sent this round today:

"(From a thread by @Forwomenscot) The CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis has said "Sexual violence happens to bigoted people too. But if you bring beliefs that are discriminatory, expect to be challenged on your prejudice. Reframe your trauma" Apparently, survivors are to be "educated" in this service."

The CEO is Mridul Wadhwa, a male person who does not have a GRC and who believes that rape victims orgasm.

The podcast twitter account is blocking everyone who says "WTF?" etc

Thing is they get paid to do this. To tell women and girls who have been raped.

To re frame their trauma

The ultimate in controlling

Fuck

littlbrowndog · 09/08/2021 20:19

I read on Twitter.
That someone said when did a service stop concentrating on the people they are meant to be helping and concentrated on the people who are meant to be delivering the service

Doesn’t seem they care any more and want rape survivors to do as they are told by being re educated

How does that even work ?

Behave as we tell you to behave and think how we want you to think.

Or else

I found a screenshot - it’s not TRA specific but on the same theme by radical therapists network

Fuck this shit.

I quite agree.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 09/08/2021 19:58

Necessary
Agree.

A civilised society would give traumatised women whatever they wanted. They could have female only spaces if society saw them as being deserving of kindness.

Instead, my MSP explained in Holyrood why he thought that they shouldn't be allowed to ask for a female forensic examiner. Because the rejection by a freshly-raped woman of a TW forensic examiner (who doesn't appear to exist in Scotland) would be more devastating for the TW than the woman being subjected to having another "no" disregarded.

I'm incandescent. I USED to be a person who was focussed on inclusion. Then I was told by a NB person to "educate" myself. So I did. And, here we are. The more I learn the angrier I become and the more I realise how high these stakes are.

Fuck this shit.

Don't recall that Jesus bloke stopping to lecture everyone on how evil they were.

Whereas he is reported to have some biting and salient commentary on whitened sepulchres.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.

NecessaryScene · 09/08/2021 19:54

I'm sure other religions have sayings like "love the sinner, hate the sin".

This lot seem to have trouble with that.

Don't recall that Jesus bloke stopping to lecture everyone on how evil they were.

@GCAutist

There was an Instagram account for woke therapists who essentially said the same as reframe your trauma quite often , if you are bigoted (according to their ideology) they will re-educate you before treating you. It seems quite a common therapeutic approach among TRAs in the field.

I’m sure that must breach some professional code or other whereby therapists are not there to judge people requiring their services. I can’t believe any counselling or support body would advocate lecturing victims on their bigotry prior to dealing with the reason they require support in the first place.

It has to breach a code yes, because it's an ideology nothing more. Therapist can't insist you adopt their belief systems before you accept help from them.

NewSchoolYear "There are all sorts of wrong about this. But can I just say this: some rape victims do orgasm. Whether it’s dissociation or a fear response it can happen and we shouldn’t be making rape victims who have experienced this feel ashamed."

Thanks, you make an important point and I posted without reflecting because I'm so fucking angry.

It was the way that MW wrote and spoke about rape and orgasms that made my spider senses go off. It did not strike me as a supportive, "how can we support women with conflicted feelings about what their body did during the assault perpetrated upon them?".

What MW said was not in any way an original way of speaking about women who have been sexually abused by men. I have heard the tone before. Interestingly, I have never heard that tone used by anyone who has insight into women's needs.

It makes me very uncomfortable.

Ugh.
beastlyslumber · 09/08/2021 19:40

This is so disgusting, honestly. What it means is that there is no rape crisis support for women in Edinburgh. A service has been taken over by this sociopathic ideologue and rape victims will not be safe to seek help there any longer.

Women in Scotland are losing our services and our rights. I hate it here so much.

I guess this is a crony belief for DFW. that's why she's blocking people right left and centre on twitter. having such a shaky belief challenged is unbearable

Well, that's the thing isn't it? There are things you do not want to be talking with men about in these sorts of circumstances.

MW interview May 2019
studentnewspaper.org/article/an-insight-with-mridul-wadhwa-into-working-in-a-rape-crisis-centre

"Wadhwa’s centre is part of a national prevention program through education scheme. They offer a series of workshops hoping that young people become educated on different topics like gender and pornography. "

"The other myth is that your body may react in a physical way to sexual violence including an orgasm but that does not mean that it’s not rape because that’s a physical response. You can’t control how your body responds to violence.”

but a woman who will use her platform to sell other women up the river. what is she thinking?

Is it a rational economic decision in re: funding, Patreon and other forms of support for the podcast?

Presumably, any other perspective on this matter would lead to the cancellation of funds from a number of supporters. There is negligible social or financial capital to lose by failing to support women in the style that suits the much disdained and disrespected woman-centred way that others would support.

When/if there is a turnaround in attitudes - and a shift in public opinion, they have little to lose and only funding/capital to gain by having a damascene conversion.

And the need to depolarise this whole area and find areas of agreement on which to build a future is essential. DFW and feminists like her would have a key role to play as "coolers".

"Coolers" and their place in a deescalation strategy outlined here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4314444-Posie-on-Talk-Radio-this-evening?msgid=109797360#109797360

I agree with Helen Joyce on the overall set of strategies. I can't think of historical examples that point any other way.

A thread talking about women and girls who feel unable to seek help because they are scared they will be called 'transphobic' for asking for a female counsellor.

WarriorN · 09/08/2021 19:14

why are some women so totally unable to advocate for other women?

It's the kindness conditioning. And that's me being kind.

Jorrris · 09/08/2021 19:07

I keep seeing comments along the lines of 'Men rape, not transwomen' by women who haven't bothered to check the fact that the pattern of criminality for males is the same regardless of how they identify

Indeed. And in the prison estate transwomen are more likely to have been convicted of a sexual assault. 1 in two as opposed around 1 in 5 of the rest of the male prison estate. Which is significant.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 09/08/2021 19:03

why are some women so totally unable to advocate for other women? what is Deborah Frances-Wright thinking?

Let's leave the male person aside here. they've proved many times that they are no friend to women, some people are just incapable of receiving that information

but a woman who will use her platform to sell other women up the river. what is she thinking?

ArabellaScott · 09/08/2021 19:00

Biology will out

Bit bio-essentialist.

FloralBunting · 09/08/2021 18:59

MW is so very selfless, apparently. A saint among us, dedicated their lives to... inveigling their way into a women only service and then saying that they would be asking rape victims to 'reframe' their trauma so as to not offend males.

The Shameful Feminist works a hell of a lot better.

GNCQ · 09/08/2021 18:48

They are so close to getting it...

"A lot of people have come to Twitter to say she is not biologically a woman. I’ve talked about my adoption publicly. The truth is - biologically - I am not my mother’s daughter. But I am though. I mean - if she needs a kidney, I’m no help. Biology will out. 5/10"

Oh good grief they've invoked gender ideology myth number 20 the adoption analogy.
"Some parents can parent a child even though the child isn't biologically their own. Therefore men can be women"

Limited argument at best. To parent is a verb and a noun. You can parent in a certain way but you can't woman in a certain way.

The rest... No words. Simply none.
