(kwaak is what frogs say in German and kvæk is what they say in Danish - so obviously now I have to go and found out what ducks say in those languages)

When you find out, PLEASE come back & share!!!

Chersfrozenface · 06/08/2021 11:14

@EmpressWitchDoesntBurn I went off on a frog tangent and found the very satisfying triad kwaak, vrak, kvæk

(kwaak is what frogs say in German and kvæk is what they say in Danish - so obviously now I have to go and found out what ducks say in those languages)

Oh, and zi is what mice say in Mandarin.

Re Twitter isn’t real life, well it kind of is in that people on Twitter are real people - some of them at least. The person who wrote the fae article is a real person who is also someone’s mum apparently. (Unless it actually is a fake article!) This navel-gazing and obsessing over what your perfect made-up pronoun identity might be is going on in real life and being taken seriously in all kinds of circles. I do think it will blow over and we’ll all look back and wonder wtf happened, but it’s causing all kinds of damage right now. Look at the Green Party, simultaneously imploding and being distracted from its main purpose, because of trying to pander to this.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 06/08/2021 10:45

@Chersfrozenface

I have a list of preferred pronouns (currently the Latin ones are my favourites), which I propose to use on weekly rotation.

I may well add ecky, ecky, ptang.

I think Greek is missing out here. Could someone who identifies as frog gender use brekeckeckeck/koax/koax? Aristophanes would surely have loved this plotline.

breatheandfocus I’m a woman with short hair, always have been. I’m also quite GNC, often wear jeans and t-shirt with no make-up, wear big boots etc but nothing out of the ordinary. I happen to be a straight, adult human female woman and in no way LBGTQ+++ at all, but in the last few years it’s been funny to see certain people tie themselves up in knots trying not to say the wrong thing or misgender me or direct me to the wrong toilets, in case I’m NB or identify as a man or whatever and might bite their head off.

It’s tragic. In the 80s/90s I was just a straight woman with short hair and my pick of the lads! Now I’m potentially not a woman.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 06/08/2021 10:41

I’ve always thought the Green Party a refuge for those with high ideals (sometimes based on shaky knowledge) and no grasp of political practicalities, especially in a FPTP system. Far better to join a party with some prospect of power and push the agenda from within. There are people concerned about the environment and with a good grasp of the complex economic and political issues involved in both the Labour and Conservative parties, and I joined the Liberals decades ago partly because it was the only party with a strong, committed position on the environment.
It doesn’t surprise me in the least that the Greens have fallen prey to extremist wokery, and I’m saddened that the LDs have also succumbed. Like many others, I’m politically homeless now.

mollythemeerkat · 06/08/2021 09:46

In the decades ahead, might this make good material for a TV comedy, its all just so gloriously and horribly bonkers.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 06/08/2021 09:44

Sorry Delirium Grin

Deliriumoftheendless · 06/08/2021 09:43

@Wrongsideofhistorymyarse

Other blog posts reveal that that some people are using "vi", "vin", "vis" as their pronouns or "ni"*

The knights who say 'ni' were ahead of the curve by decades.

Dammit! I was working on a joke about this then my child woke up and I missed my shot! 😂
BreatheAndFocus · 06/08/2021 09:42

FAE not fake 😂 Transphobic auto-correct alert 😆

BreatheAndFocus · 06/08/2021 09:41

Slightly off-topic but from that ‘fake article’:

My bio at the time read, in part, that I was a cis woman who used she/her. I replied to the tweet to clarify that I’d added cis to my bio because my somewhat androgynous appearance had led people to assume I was non-binary, and I didn’t want the appearance of appropriating a non-binary identity

That’s the crux, isn’t it? Everyone has to conform to silly regressive stereotypes. A woman with short hair? Stop! Someone might think you’re claiming the NB identity! (But it’s not about how you look, right) In fact, dear friend, you’ve got short hair…perhaps you are NB! What’s even sillier is that it then contradicts itself by her saying that ‘fake’ means she feels sometimes feminine but never masculine. Yet a few sentences before she was rambling on about how her looking a bit masculine might mean people thought she was NB! 🙄

As for KB, their special ‘trans shield’ has failed and they’re being held accountable for their actions. Tragic. KB was the final straw that made me leave the Greens. It was because K is trans but because of their actions - much like the census lie accusations here.

I've just read the medium article. Well worth reading the comments, where they all end up having an argument about whether faeries are good or not, and whether the author of the article, by identifying as Fae should in fact answer for the terrible violence inflicted on the Celtic humans by the Fae in the ancient Celtic myths and legends.

Be careful what you wish for, Tumblrkind... you might be expected to pay reparations for the fictional behaviour of your fantasy gender.

Jaysmith71 · 06/08/2021 09:02

@NancyDrawed

...or perhaps because you made a point of publicly stating that you were breaking the law by knowingly giving false info in the census and the Green Party didn't want to endorse that?
Because this:

Bristow's lawyers have taken the case on a no win, no fea basis.

Sophoclesthefox · 06/08/2021 08:49

The statement on the crowdfunder um, glosses over a fair bit of Bristows activity in the lead up to being dropped, doesn’t it?

A good legal crowdfunder would lay out: what happened? What should have happened? How was it detrimental to the claimant? What remedy are they seeking?

I don’t see any of that there. It’s very waffly.

Triphazards · 06/08/2021 08:24

The declension is fae, fie, fo, fum.
