@BoreOfWhabylon

I think the only fair way forward is to exclude anyone who has gone through male puberty, for whatever reason, from ever competing as a female
Doesn’t this inadvertently make an argument for puberty blockers though?

Surely anyone with XY chromosomes should be excluded from women’s sport. It’s the only way to be truly fair. It’s unfortunate for DSD athletes but it’s the only way to ensure fairness. (I also think that the tinkering with testosterone for DSD athletes gives validation to allowing male athletes into women’s sport).

And just think that Hubbard could now stop all hormone treatment for the next 2 years get all the gains and then start taking hormones 12 months before the next Olympics......... sigh......

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 02/08/2021 13:14

@viques

Feeling it for Hubbard.Grin Crap weightlifter as a man. Crap weightlifter as a woman. Maybe time for them to muscle in on a new sport , wonder what their 200m time is?
Surely swimming in Paris? Only 3 years away.
ShagMeRiggins · 02/08/2021 13:13

[quote nauticant]Have a look here ShagMeRiggins:

Thanks, Nauticant, will have a look. A bit late to the games today and haven’t had much chance to catch up on news and details.

Frankly, I’ve been enjoying the Olympics too much and still recovering from Worthington’s BMX flip (wow), and Shriever’s track win (guts), the swimmers, the GB gymnastics Bronze, Helen Glover’s comeback story even though she and Swann came fourth.

So much to admire in these amazing women.

@OvaHere

It doesn't make a difference if this middle aged male is subpar. Hubbard should never have been there. He took an opportunity from a young woman who did deserve to be there.

In some respects it's just as much of a travesty that he is twice their age, unfit and with terrible technique. Makes a mockery of what the Olympics are supposed to be.

For anyone who thinks it doesn't matter because he didn't win needs to remember that this sets precedent so the next country to send a male person into the female weightlifting competition (or any other sports category) might send someone who is 20 years old and at the pinnacle of male bodied fitness.

This is exactly what I feel, too.
Bitofachinwag · 02/08/2021 13:09

@Horehound

Is this Hubbard's goal though? O mentioned it on another thread and wondered if this gives an agenda to approve transwomen in women's sport
Possibly. " Look, transwomen don't always win, it's fine for them to compete with women".
littlbrowndog · 02/08/2021 13:08

But Eurosport switched of the woman’s weightlifting 🤷‍♀️ Now

OvaHere · 02/08/2021 13:07

Video in link. It's like a real life version of the 'Behold' meme. You'll know what I mean when you watch it.

Shameful.

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2021 13:07

Hubbard has a best of 132.

FemaleAndLearning · 02/08/2021 13:04

I'm so angry I found myself despising him. I thought gosh I am transphobic, but no I'm don't despise him because he is trans I despise him because he is a cheat, has taken the place of a woman and is such a mediocre weightlifter.
If I've read it right women have only been competing in weightlifting since 2000.
Interesting this article says that female representation on the Olympic committee is a measley 20%.

WomaninBoots · 02/08/2021 12:58

Hubbard didn't even lift one thing?

Is that them done?

What a fucking joke.

"Flabby middle aged man trolls women's sports"

WarriorN · 02/08/2021 12:57

Let's also not forget millionaire. No crowd funding for this competitor.

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Hubbard failed the snatch

The satire just writes itself.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 02/08/2021 12:54

Yep. I’m anticipating an interview tomorrow (with obligatory doe eyed photo) about how their mental health has suffered from all the GC comments and they were unable to compete and people need to be kind etc.

I’m so angry for those who missed out. Surely this persons age should and injury record would have ruled them out (in normal selection processes) in order to give an up and coming person some experience.

LadyVymes · 02/08/2021 12:53

literally came out all smiles and heart hands and took a girly bow when failed to do the job was there to do. It was all a stunt to prove there was no natural advantage wasn’t it?

WarriorN · 02/08/2021 12:53

Well, it will a bit, but isn't it a strawman argument? As at the end of the day, this is a male.

And there's no way a transman could go and compete in the men's category.

weebarra · 02/08/2021 12:46

I know. Part of me was wondering the Trojan horse theory. 'Look, she was rubbish so it doesn't matter!'

WarriorN · 02/08/2021 12:46

Thanks for the updates, all this proved was that middle aged, mediocre males can compete badly with female athletes.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/08/2021 12:45

Such a shame for the woman who missed out.

littlbrowndog · 02/08/2021 12:45

Hubbard didn’t even make a lift.

So doesn’t go through to next

Fucking waste
