We’ve never discussed the issues before, he brought it up, it was an email from a charity he does stuff with from a woman he doesn’t know with a clearly female name. In his reply he said that he was interested to read her pronouns and wondered what the form would be for the Queen as she uses the third person, he is imagining we/us 🤣. He is thought it was very silly and knew all about what is happening in Scotland to civil servants. Gave me hope that the more it’s pushed the more people will be aware and push back (or just laugh and puncture the pomposity of it like my 70+ Dad).

@MsMarvellous @MrsOvertonsWindow

Absolutely. I see pronouns as red flags for lack of critical thinking, narcissism and lack of integrity. These are not desirable professional traits.

If I clock this, I’m sure some of the upper management are clocking this also. Even if they appear to go along with it and not say anything.

If only the pronoun’ed ones have the self awareness to realise this. But they tend to believe in their own delusions of ‘being kind/inclusive/your true authentic self’’ etc., especially when validated by echo chambers.

The person who l for their pronouns on for a meeting i was in was asked to explain why, and thanks to you lot I managed to raise that it was detrimental to women. They have not appeared with them again. Probably just keeping them for work.

Indeed MsMarvellous. There's a total lack of critical thinking with all of this isn't there?
I suppose that's why enforcement happens via bullying, threats and intimidation. Very few would willingly go along with this anti fact, anti science and anti women rhetoric if they weren't afraid.

MsMarvellous · 31/07/2021 09:47

@MrsOvertonsWindow or ours you as someone who goes along with a trend without thinking deeply about it.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 31/07/2021 09:39

I don't think people realise that adding pronouns outs you as a bit of a narcissist. Also with a hint of coercive control? Fretting about how others may refer to you when you're not there and desperate to control their language.
They really haven't thought this through Grin

People should start pushing back more. It’s just so difficult in a work environment I understand why people don’t.
It is so silly that you would call yourself Emma or Paul and then insist on pronouns that people wouldn’t attach to them. If someone does that they want the drama.

AdaFuckingShelby · 31/07/2021 09:33

Yes, I'm all for puncturing pompsity, particularly this type. In a kind way with humour is definitely best Grin

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/07/2021 09:29
