Jessica Alves talks about a womb transplant.......

You probably know of this trans person, has been in the media a LOT due to plastic surgery etc.
Has recently transitioned. Was in the press a few days ago saying they could not wait to lose their 'virginity' with a man, and now is hoping for a 'womb transplant'.
Do you think this will ever be possible? My thinking is (hopefully) not. Too many hurdles to overcome (synthetic hormones, anti rejection drugs, pelvis wrong shape, no way to give birth naturally, how to replicate changing hormones during a pregnancy etc ).
Is that all it takes now to be a woman? A plastic surgeon and shoving in a donated uterus? Makes me feel deeply uneasy, I pray no ethics committee will ever allow this to happen.
Its all a bit Frankensteinian.
Thoughts?

Jesssica uses plastic surgery to deal with their emotions. As a result, they never truly deal with their emotions, so they constantly need the next fix (I.e. more surgery).

Counseling should be a standard part of the plastic surgery consultancy precisely for this reason.

FuriousAndFrustrated · 27/07/2021 16:11

So on the one hand it's terribly transphobic to talk about women and their reproductive capacity, yet on the other hand to feel like a real woman they need reproductive capacity?

I wish they'd make their minds up!

Eyesofdisarray · 27/07/2021 15:35

I'd be extremely concerned for the child
If this will ever happen.
Agree JA appears quite unwell

Beamur · 27/07/2021 15:20

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria

Well, that person clearly has a plastic surgeon who is comfortable working in a way that seems to be quite far removed from "first do no harm".

So, I'm sure they'd give bunging in a uterus a bash if that's what Jessica said they wanted and Jessica had enough money to pay for it.

I'm concerned for Jessica's wellbeing.

Sadly I think you're right. This person must have chronic dysmorphia. The ethics of the surgeons repeatedly altering them must be questionable.

Scientists have been working on growing organs in a lab, presumably for transplants and the like. Grow a womb in a lab? The male body wouldn't support it well, as was said. However, I wouldn't be so quick to say it is impossible. Think of how fast tech and science has progressed lately! Could a male get hip surgery to widen hips? I agree it's a terrible idea, especially for the poor baby ffs! Unfortunately I do think a lot of things are possible. SHOULD we is the question. They said man couldn't fly in the sky either, but now planes are everywhere. Hopefully some things are just impossible for humans to do.

Helleofabore · 27/07/2021 13:22

Don’t women need to go into immuno suppressants while they have those transplanted uteruses? And if they have a child, they then have them removed.

So, the reality is that for this vanity implant, because it is certainly not a transplant, is a male will live their life with no immunity to be able to have an organ that they don’t have the body to support. No vascular connection, no endocrine system to support it, no actual need for it. Because some mad doctors are selling false dreams following from experiments of growing lambs in fake plastic wombs.

What ethics committee would allow a human to grow in such a hostile and synthetic environment? It is not like that male has a female reproductive system needed to cope with what is needed to supply an infant with all their needs for nine months.

This is NOT anything like a uterus transplant for a female.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 27/07/2021 13:12

@RVN123

A quick Google tells me :

"The first successful uterus transplant took place in Sweden in 2014. To date, approximately 50 have been performed around the world, resulting in 16 live births."

So even in biological females, the success rate is only about 30%. I'm sure that figure would be far far smaller in biological men, presuming there was ever a surgeon who would do it.

Just read she also "hopes to conceive naturally". How the actual hell is THAT ever going to happen?

This person needs years and years of intensive therapy to unlock all their problems. To bring a child into their life would be a disaster.

Chrysanthemum5 · 27/07/2021 13:01

Jessica Alves is clearly quite an unwell person whose income depends on attracting attention so I suspect JA is just saying what JA thinks will get that attention.

As to whether ethics would allow an experiment on a foetus like this, they are already encouraging male individuals to induce lactation (see thread on Australian breastfeeding association) with an untested chemical cocktail which may pass to the baby. So I wouldn't be shocked if male entitlement meant that at some point this was tried

I have had multiple miscarriages and read a book on pregnancy and miscarriage written by one well known gynaecologist, and spoke to my own gynae about it, me "it's so complicated, no wonder it goes wrong" her: "oh yes, I'm surprised it actually goes right so often".

GNCQ · 27/07/2021 12:42

"I can't wait to have children"

Yes you already can mate, using your sperm that you froze prior to your operation to have you balls removed and penis inverted. Then you'll use a "surrogate" to give birth. Which is really what you're going to do isn't it. If you really want children of your own.
Because you can't produce eggs so another woman will have to provide those too won't she.

It's all bollocks, in other words.

acatcalledjohn · 27/07/2021 12:38

Oh, the former human Ken doll. Transitioned to Barbie. Trans-Mattel?

Bythemillpond · 27/07/2021 12:37

Just googled who this person is

Love that under known for it says extensive plastic surgeries

Floisme · 27/07/2021 12:35

I assume they are talking about a 'womb implant' not a transplant? And if they don't know the difference then that suggests they have no understanding of what growing a human being entails so I see no reason to take a word they say seriously.

I saw the “I can’t wait to have children” article and I just shudder at the thought of it tbh, not because of being a trans woman but bc she is clearly mad as a box of frogs.
This person has had decades and decades of elective surgical procedures, extreme body dysmorphia, changed their face 10 times and now has changed body parts and presenting as a different person altogether. Good luck to them if this has now taken them to a place they can feel happy and comfortable in their body and life but in no fucking world should this person be allowed to have a child.

Perhaps within a stable relationship with someone who doesn’t have decades of extreme behaviour behind them but certainly not as single person and not by surrogate.
Imagine if some poor woman actually creates and births a baby and hands it over to this shit show.

And no, I am not implying people with mental health issues shouldn’t be parents, they absolutely can and should have families if they want but we can’t ignore the chaotic lifestyle this person has.

In terms of womb transplants - I agree with pp - it’s unlikely to happen but even the suggestion of it devalues and minimised women so of course some groups are going to be all over the subject, promoting it like it’s a done deal.

Bythemillpond · 27/07/2021 12:31

No real idea on biology but if this person has male anatomy eg hip width. That alone should make a womb transplant unnecessary because they could never carry a baby. Even if you did manage to grow a baby in there at some point this persons pelvis would end up cracking and breaking as the baby grew or the baby would end up with nowhere to move.

Besides the fact that just because you have a womb doesn’t mean you have the equipment to carry a child.

yourhairiswinterfire · 27/07/2021 12:31

I don't think it'll ever happen. Hopefully not something I'll see in my lifetime.

There's absolutely no reason for it. Males don't need wombs, they don't need to get pregnant.

Pregnancy isn't fully understood, it's so complex. How are they going to replicate it in a male when they don't fully understand natural pregnancy in women?

It'd result in many dead or severely ill/deformed babies and probably dead males too. And for what? ''I want'' isn't a good enough reason.

Lonel · 27/07/2021 12:31

I don't think males will ever have babies. It would mean carrying out a living experiment on a foetus and for what? To satisfy a whim, not to save a life. And what would be the point of receiving a donated womb? Again, just for personal satisfaction. It is ethically and morally wrong. If your self- worth depends on you being implanted with other people's body parts you need psychological help not a transplant.

TheWeeDonkey · 27/07/2021 12:30

From what I've seen of this person they have a lot of issues and I feel really sad for them, I think the surgeons who have operated on them have been very irresponsible and unethical. Obviously a womb transplant would be pointless and maybe very harmful. I'm sure there's some chancer who will be happy to take his money, but I think surgery is not the treatment this person needs.

MadamBatty · 27/07/2021 12:29

We’ll they don’t want a child do they? They want a baby…a cute Insta accessory. So everyone can tell them how stunning & brave they are.

A womb is not a standalone box to be shoved in.
