Absolutely shocking

www.dailysignal.com/2021/07/22/federal-judge-halts-arkansas-ban-on-sex-change-procedures-for-minors/

Hopefully campaigners will step up and get this passed

This line was very troubling "ACLU of Arkansas Executive Director Holly Dickson praised the judge’s ruling Wednesday, saying it “sends a clear message to states across the country that gender affirming care is life-saving care, and we won’t let politicians in Arkansas—or anywhere else—take it away,” AP reported." But then it is from the ACLU

an inclusive, intersectional view of feminism with buying into the divisive rhetoric which seeks to drive a wedge between wedge between women.

The only wedges being driven are by people such as yourself who are prioritising men over women in feminism, which by the way is by women for women not men, any men, however they identify. Your version of feminism places women at the bottom of the pile, places men and their wants and desires over women's needs, is not inclusive as it excludes swathes of women of all ages, colour, and creed, purely for not being craven and submissive to your mantra chanting and men worshipping view.

Redapplewreath · 26/07/2021 15:19

How can you believe youre being intersectional and inclusive while speaking for a political belief that excludes many vulnerable women from any provision by removing single sex spaces and replacing sex with gender?

Shall we be honest that your intersectionality and inclusion is actually only focused on people born male, and takes no interest at all in those born female whose needs are thrown aside and whose rights are harmed by all this?

And that the whole 'driving a wedge' by pointing this out is actually because some people around here get what inclusion really does mean and believe it applies to everyone, including females?

Helleofabore · 26/07/2021 15:12

have an inclusive, intersectional view of feminism with buying into the divisive rhetoric which seeks to drive a wedge between wedge between women.

Well, at least you are honest that intersectional feminism follows a divisive rhetoric.

Helleofabore · 26/07/2021 15:09

Obviously my post is to Hypatia

Helleofabore · 26/07/2021 15:08

So.... no evidence that the action that you have described as 'great' is actually the best option for young people with gender dysphoria?

Why does it matter?

Because I am witnessing in real life and in real time the very real effects of what you are supporting. On real teenagers.

I most certainly do not think there is a one size fits all treatment plan, and I am very conscious of the negative side effects on the young people I know, of them being influenced by this 'affirming only' agenda. The agenda being pushed by those who have halted this bill.

You can choose to live on Earth 1.

I will live on Earth, as it is now and I will follow the studies very closely. And if they show that the life limiting and life shortening negative effects are actually rare, and that the statistics that these treatments are actually not be dramatically skewed to suit a particular narrative instead of actually what is best for the many, many teenaged females caught up here, then I will support it.

Redapplewreath · 26/07/2021 15:07

Which is it by the way? Are people welcome to believe what they like or is it 'silencing' to have a dissenting opinion? It can't be both.

Redapplewreath · 26/07/2021 15:05

This seems to be the new thing..... saying 'you're welcome to believe what you like' while adding that stating disagreement or criticism of an opinion is 'silencing it'. Novel interpretation of the semantics to say the least.

No one on MN gets a white card to say what they like and expect nothing but mindless agreement.

ArabellaScott · 26/07/2021 15:02

A flame war? You responded in the midst of a conversation about NAMBLA with 'Great news!'.

I was taken aback.

You're welcome to believe the Earth is flat, that the covid Vaccines were invented by Lucifer and that George Soros has teamed up with #BigPharma to turn children trans.

I see. Seems you're just flinging out wild accusations that are detached from reality, let alone with any relevance to the conversation.

If you don't want to participate, then why join in at all? If you want to respond to the conversation, then you'll need to read it! If, however, you just want to have a drive-by shout at women in general, and accuse them of ... Lucifer vaccines ... then it's a bit rich to accuse other posters who had responded to you of 'flame wars'.

Hypatia415 · 26/07/2021 14:53

Why does everything have to be a flame war?

I responded to reading the OP and I don't see why I need to read and measure the 'discussion' before I'm allowed to make views on a subject.

There is a worrying orthodoxy on here that attempts to silence alternative views. Perhaps through your lens the decision is 'scary news' and you're welcome to that view. You're welcome to believe the Earth is flat, that the covid Vaccines were invented by Lucifer and that George Soros has teamed up with #BigPharma to turn children trans.

I however prefer to live on Earth 1 and have an inclusive, intersectional view of feminism with buying into the divisive rhetoric which seeks to drive a wedge between wedge between women.

Redapplewreath · 26/07/2021 14:39

Utterly heartbreaking, Potholes. Anyone suggesting to children this is the first, most loving, positive option is at absolute best irresponsibly naiive. Sentimental hopefulness has no part to play at all in safeguarding.

Helleofabore · 26/07/2021 14:17

@Hypatia415

Great news! Yes, I agree, it's absolutely shocking and scary that Arkansas tried to prevent gender-affirming care, but great to see the ACLU protecting the rights of a vulnerable community.
Would you mind clarifying what you think is 'great' about a state's medical policy that allows puberty blockers and surgeries for minor please?

Considering this is one of the most recent studies from April 2021:

journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/26344041211010777

The final paragraph says this:

To provide adequate care, clinicians need to understand and confront the complexity of the clinical presentations. They need, in particular, to use a broad, holistic, systemic (i.e., biopsychosocial) framework that takes into account the full range of interacting factors—social, economic, relational, family, psychological, and biological—that have defined the life circumstances of the child and the family seeking care for gender dysphoria.

This study states very clearly that 'affirming only' treatments do not work and are NOT in the best interest of their young patients.

Obviously though 'Hypatia415', you have some evidence that it is. Please post it as I would really like to see that study.

In the meantime, to describe puberty blockers which we know from the Bell vs Tavistock case have life limiting and potentially life shortening negative effects, and cross sex hormones and surgeries that are also high risk of being life limiting and potentially life shortening as 'life saving' is highly emotive and greatly unfounded. One could say that those repeating this trope are complicit in adding to the pressure for these young people to undergo these procedures.

In fact, in 5.2 of the above study, clinicians found

The drivers of this dynamic * appeared to include not simply the gender affirmative model itself but information from peers, previously encountered health workers, and the internet; many children arrived at the clinic with strongly entrenched beliefs and with no interest in further exploring their medical, psychological, social, or familial situation. It also became apparent to us that many children did not have the cognitive, psychological, or emotional capacity to understand the decisions they were making

  • the dynamic here is that patients and family insisting that gender affirming care is the 'only' pathway acceptable.

In other words, people who continue to push the agenda that the ONLY life saving treatment is affirming only have basically caused these vulnerable patients to reject the advice of the experienced clinicians.

So ... is that what you consider is 'great'?

ArabellaScott · 26/07/2021 12:33

WPATH are the organistion Helen Webberley uses for her info, aren't they? WHo is of course up in front of a Tribunal as we speak for malpractise.

ArabellaScott · 26/07/2021 12:32

Heartbreaking, Potholes. I wonder when/if Scott and others will start to pursue malpractise cases.

extract

I wasn’t “born in the wrong body.” I was born female. But I didn’t like it. So I changed my appearance, at significant monetary, psychological, and physical cost, with plastic surgery and hormones. My sex never changed, though. Only my appearance changed.

Anyone going through this is in store for a brutal process. Yet we now have thousands of naïve parents walking their children into gender-treatment centers, often based on Internet-peddled narratives that present the transition experience through a gauzy rainbow lens. Many transition therapies are still in an experimental phase—as you will learn if you become sick during or after these treatments.

During my own transition, I had seven surgeries. I also had a massive pulmonary embolism, a helicopter life-flight ride, an emergency ambulance ride, a stress-induced heart attack, sepsis, a 17-month recurring infection due to using the wrong skin during a (failed) phalloplasty, 16 rounds of antibiotics, three weeks of daily IV antibiotics, the loss of all my hair, (only partially successful) arm reconstructive surgery, permanent lung and heart damage, a cut bladder, insomnia-induced hallucinations—oh and frequent loss of consciousness due to pain from the hair on the inside of my urethra. All this led to a form of PTSD that made me a prisoner in my apartment for a year. Between me and my insurance company, medical expenses exceeded $900,000.

During these 17 months of agony, I couldn’t get a urologist to help me. They didn’t feel comfortable taking me on as a patient—since the phalloplasty, like much of the transition process, is experimental. “Could you go back to the original surgeon?” they suggested.

Whenever you question the maximalist activist line on trans affirmation, you are directed toThe World Professional Association for Transgender Health (or WPATH)as a reference. But much of what you find there consists of vague phrases such as “up to doctor’s discretion.” Several lawyers suggested I had a slam-dunk medical-malpractice case—until they realized that trans health doesn’t really have a justiciable baseline. As a result, treatment often issubpar, as I have experienced first-hand.

Lupron, the hormone blocker some doctors seem intent on giving to kids like Tylenol, isn’t evenFDA-approved to treat children with gender dysphoria. (In 2001, the manufacturerpled guiltyto fraudulent sales practices with regard to its marketing as a prostate-cancer drug.) We don’t yet know its long-term effects off-label, despite the fact parents have been assured that its effects are safe and even reversible.

Here is what we do know:The long-term use of synthetic hormone therapyshortens lives. Specifically, these medications are associated with an increased risk of heart attacks, pulmonary embolisms, bone damage, liver and kidney failure, mental-health complications, and more. Almost a quarter of hormone-therapy patients on high-dose anabolic steroids (such as the testosterone taken by female-to-male transitioners) exhibit majormood-syndrome symptoms. Between three and 12 percent go on to develop symptoms of psychosis.

ArabellaScott · 26/07/2021 12:18

Ah, I see. I forgot that people sometimes plop into a conversation without reading the thread. Jarring, given what we've just been discussing. Confused

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 26/07/2021 12:16

don't forget gender affirming is life affirming

Every time I see such words, I think of Scott Newgent's arm. twitter.com/ScottNewgent/status/1419275473239093250?s=19

Tesla73 · 26/07/2021 12:00

I think they mean that ACLU are standing up for those who want to be in girls sports even though they are boys - as we all know that is the most "vulnerable community" out there with 1000s of examples to back the claims up

don't forget gender affirming is life affirming

OP posts:
ArabellaScott · 26/07/2021 11:50

great to see the ACLU protecting the rights of a vulnerable community

Sorry, are you calling NAMBLA a 'vulnerable community'?

Hypatia415 · 26/07/2021 11:40

Great news! Yes, I agree, it's absolutely shocking and scary that Arkansas tried to prevent gender-affirming care, but great to see the ACLU protecting the rights of a vulnerable community.

Tesla73 · 26/07/2021 11:25

With just a straightforward google search you find so many of these organisations on the left have links with NAMBLA and their ilk

dailycaller.com/2017/04/28/documents-tie-berkeley-riot-organizers-to-pro-pedophilia-group-nambla/

In the UK its PIE and NAMBLA seems to be the US equivalent and this is why I think the CRT movement is relevant to this because its all being used as a smokescreen and people who arent educating themselves (mainly the youth & celebs who are so obsessed with virtue signalling on social media) are supporting such people whilst thinking they are doing something good and progressive

OP posts:
Tesla73 · 26/07/2021 11:06

@ArabellaScott just found this from 2006

abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=95942&page=1

Sounds just like the excuses/words used by the current cult doesnt it? Most depressing thing is that Twitter etc now openly support and protect so called MAPs and no one seems to care

OP posts:
ArabellaScott · 26/07/2021 10:57

I recently was reading about ACLU supporting NAMBLA years ago.

Tesla73 · 26/07/2021 10:09

I know its Breitbart but looks like this story isnt going away and hopefully parents will kick back against this like they have been doing elsewhere

www.breitbart.com/sports/2021/07/25/judge-forces-school-accept-trans-runner-girls-team/

the powers that be really need to start reading the comments on stories like this and wake up

On a slightly related topic Brighton & Hove council have sneaked CRT into their schools - please see the petition in the article - so one to watch as we all know CRT isnt the only thing BHCC love peddling

I feel nothing but worry for that 11-year-old put on puberty blockers. A terrible experiment in children.

All those girls being gaslit - W.Virginia is an economically disadvantaged state and I'm sure many young women there see athletic scholarships as the only way out of poverty.
