I can't tell you how much I laughed at this. Thanks for reminding me Grin.

BTW nothing at all wrong with Graham's looks - we don't all go for a prescribed beauty standard, for example, I find the muscly men on Love Island extremely unattractive but lots of people go for it, personally I'd rather have Graham. Looks are subjective and a shallow way to dig at a person who has a great deal going for them.

Targeting people's looks is an easy way to berate and belittle someone without have to engage even half a brain cell or (heaven forbid) actually engage with relevant points. I can't tell you how little respect I have for people going down that path with ANYONE (including trans people).

Oh my goodness, when Father Ted takes that little hammer to that whole car to try to fix a tiny dent. I think of that often when I keep trying to fix something and make it worse…

He’s a comedy legend, a principled man and has a dreamy accent, what’s not to like.

God we love Glinner in this house.

My dcs have been brought up on his comedy writing - favourite lines include ds2 checking any cake on offer isn't made out of 'dog poo and knives (and no, we don't live in London)

I'm a runner who does those virtual running challenges so I've actually turned into the woman from IT Crowd who is running across the world via an app. 😂

I do think that many TRAs are feeling the tide turn against them and grasping at straws.

I dislike the woman for her behaviour on Twitter but on a thread criticising TRAs for insulting Glinner's appearance...is this really the best line to take??

That's her facial expression, not her looks.

Then there's the episode where Ted has to rig the raffle because Jack crashed the car that was the prize. Dougal doesn't realise he's got the right number ticket as he was holding it upside down. The number 11.
Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse is my favourite one though.
I made DH watch Black Books as he'd missed it when it was first out. So so funny.

Even if he'd never stepped up for women in this fight, Graham Linehan deserves a knighthood for Father Ted & Black Books. It makes me very sad when I think of him losing his good name & his career, because he put his head above the parapet, I hope he thinks it was worth it. I only found out what was going on in genderology because I idly googled something about Father Ted in 2018, and the first billion entries were "Glinner is a bigot and a transphobe". I went wtf and educated myself

I love Glinner's comedies. Most often quoted in our house is from an episode where Jen is talking to Roy and says "I don't want you to put me on a pedal stool or anything" and he says "Jen, what did you say?" and she says "don't me put on an a pedal stool. You know -- a pedal stool". "Ah" says Roy, "a pedestal". Grin

It is disappointing if people have sunk to TRAs' level. The best thing to do is ignore the sad fuckers and let them show themselves up.

Anyway, the Bishop Brennan episode of Father Ted is one of the funniest episodes of TV ever made.
