I also agree with Datun. Woman is a sex based word, as is female and girl, not a costume nor an identity.

Well, yeah, they are after female too. I overheard an online session about university that my daughter was doing today. There was talk of various choirs, one was for female identifying and female leaning people and another for male identifying and male leaning people as well as some that were mixed sex.

Surely they want sopranos and contraltos in one and tenors and basses in the other…

I am with SqueakyPeaks at this point too. Give them an inch and they’ll take a mile, or several.

We need boundaries, we need to be able to assert our perception of reality. We need to be able to say what we believe is true.

Female and woman is exactly the same sex! Female and girl. Woman and girl. All the same sex.

Woman is the adult version of female, girl is the juvenile version of female.

Printing that as a full-page and would be a much better use of money.

Fine, but then put an advert saying that in the Times. Address the disagreement head-on. Passively-aggressively stating the dictionary definition of woman suggests that the argument over TWAW has been lost. And if I were a trans-rights activist I would simply welcome your helpful definition, and point out that TWAF!

Transwomen are actually men though, aren't they, with gender dysphoria. I've moved so far from my starting point because of the relentless abuse and violent reaction to women's claim on retaining their rights. I don't think I accede to any misappropriation of the word "woman" now.

I unsubscribed from The Times about 18 months ago but have been tempted more and more over the last few months to resubscribe.

I also have a Times sub, having never paid for a newspaper subscription in my life until this year.

The idea of The Grauniad running such an ad makes me laugh. There would be vapours and mass walkouts and tears and demands for an apology and goodness knows what.

Private Eye cheerfully mocks all the papers (and all politicians), it's just that the Graun provide so much free material.

Don't get too excited about The Times, they still are pretty shite about other issues.My uncle works as a journalist and some of the angles he is told to write is pretty shit. This was a paid advert not their editorial choice.
