Looks like they are unhappy with her because she supports JK Rowling. Some little arsehole has contacted the theatre she is currently working at, to try and get her sacked.

She is not having it. Another strong, formidable woman.

I saw the Jay stuff but his tweets were already protected when I became aware. What was her tweet that set it off - out of interest?

Datun · 19/07/2021 16:38

She hasn't doxxed him. She's found out his name and address and has threatened legal action.

And she called him a fuckhead. 💪

VanGoghsDog · 19/07/2021 16:38

@ScreamingMeMe

They seem to have appropriated people of colour and somehow added them to the "trans umbrella"

They also say that a belief in two sexes is "white colonialism" Hmm

Exactly! They are claiming other people's oppression!

It's disgusting. (Or, as they would say: "Ew, gross").

Wildgarlicpesto · 19/07/2021 16:37

It seems you are supportive of totalitarian behaviour @Oystercakemix and also believe that their is a correct response to totalitarianism which can only be determined by those imposing it?

Datun · 19/07/2021 16:36

@Helleofabore

Even if you believe Jay is in the wrong here, you do have to admit that Frances has acted hugely disproportionately when actively threatening him.

What is the difference between her threat and his threat in your eyes that makes her threat disproportionate?

I'd love to see an answer this.

I expect it's because she's a woman. And should rise above it.

Because women are held to a massively higher standard than men.

It is incredibly dense to think someone legitimately criticing someone in the public eye because they've been hateful is the same as someone in the public eye dogpiling and doxxing someone unknown.

Yeah right

You still haven't commented on why Jay threatening Frances Barber's livelihood is not unkind but Frances Barber responding is?
If you are repeatedly racist, islamaphobic and transphobic then you can't expect everyone to like you. If she gets fired now, it won't be because some relative unknown sent screenshots of her nasty tweets to her place of work, it will be because of the way she reacted.

You don't have to blindly support everyone who agrees with you about trans people.

(((There's a new Strike in progress))) it was on twitter on a Frances thread...
Re racism: There's a screenshot of an OJ tweet. Easier if I link it.

Have you got a screenshot? Some of us are happily blocked from little OJ's Twitter.

I think the racism stuff (generally, not re FB and the Muslim tweet) is where TRAs are doubling down and now calling any view that doesn't support trans rights as racist due to "white privilege". They seem to have appropriated people of colour and somehow added them to the "trans umbrella". Not sure how gender critical women of colour feel about that!

I was lumped into the trans umbrella today for saying on a FB post that I have no gender. "Oh, you're trans then". No mate .....

KittenKong · 19/07/2021 16:21

If someone purposely came after me and tried to get me fired / mess up my career, livelihood, my family’s income, I would not timidly hide away or beg forgiveness. I’d be coming right back at them - as my mother always used to also say “never start anything - but always finish it”

PronounssheRa · 19/07/2021 16:18

@Oystercakemix

Frances Barber tweeted 'Hey Jay Mann. 3 people have give me your name & details. You're FUCKED'

That is not standing up for yourself, that's a threat.

It's clear from a previous tweet she was threatening to get legal. Women tend not to threaten men with violence for obvious reasons.

She has every right to defend herself legally.

LoislovesStewie · 19/07/2021 16:18

Why is it women who are always accused of being 'unkind' when they are just furious with injustice?

TrainedByCats · 19/07/2021 16:18

@RedDogsBeg

I’m not a Muslim and I also find Frances Barbers views and comments on Muslims offensive

I find it offensive that a Muslim taxi driver told her she was disgustingly dressed and shouldn't be out alone late at night and it appears Uber agreed with Frances.

I’d also be offended by that taxi driver. It’s possible to hold all those views at the same time
AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 19/07/2021 16:14

She’s fucking formidable, isn’t she?

Jesus.

I’m in stunned awe.

WarriorN · 19/07/2021 16:12

I've spotted on twitter that she's grouped with Maureen Lipman and JK as being a 'weird little Labour group' (or something similar.' I do smell misogyny tbh.

Clymene · 19/07/2021 16:12

Number 1 of opinionated people whose opinions I am not interested in: Owen Jones.

And like many women, he's blocked me on Twitter which makes me even less interested

ScreamingMeMe · 19/07/2021 16:10

It's extremely unkind to try and get someone fired. From past experience, this isn't ourside rhe realms of possibility, and no doubt would cause a lot of stress to the potential firee.

Also I should point out that Frances is a thorn in the side of Labour's loony left contingent as she calls them out. She has also been vocal about the antisemitism within the party. No doubt the loony left (never thought I'd use that phrase in earnest, but here we are) contingent will try and use this to their advantage. Even if it is just to say...try and stop people from discussing this/try and deflect from this. (This isn't aimed at Moon or Mega, who I do believe are posting in good faith.)

WarriorN · 19/07/2021 16:09

But has anyone else noticed that it now seems mandatory for a GC person to also be accused of being racist, islamophobic, antisemitic?

Yes I have.

And they might be or might not be; the individual issues need to be looked at separately.

Here he tried to get her fired for a view that most people have.

She's understandably furious.

They're using it as an opportunity to smear her even more. As most people bung everyone in the same band if you've one "phobic/ist" label you get them all by proxy. Simplistic fools.

highame · 19/07/2021 16:08

Whereyouleftit odd isn't it

How come, if he's got a million followers, they're not drooling on his every word. I think 9,999,000 must be us checking what he's up to

BlueBlazerBlack · 19/07/2021 16:08

I really doubt Jay is going to be fired, at most he will get a warning for misusing his social media, which he rightly deserves.

But I feel that baseless accusations of transphobia can often end a woman's career, so I'm really glad she is fighting back. It's time these trolls had a dose of their own medicine, maybe next time Jay will think twice about trying to get someone sacked for holding an opinion that is different to his own

Cailleach1 · 19/07/2021 16:06

This is distraction from the substantive issue.

Cailleach1 · 19/07/2021 16:05

The same OJ who was 'hunting' for broody Lesbians.
