It's okay to let people be who they are.

OP posts:

I’m also forced to confront the fact that others will perceive me as gendered whether I like it or not, and that there are very real barriers that stop me from having my identity recognised in society.'

No matter how obtuse, Stonewall has still managed to wring out some pain from this one. However, when will the point arrive when the batshitites will totally take over and the lunacy can no longer be disguised Grin

I now go for Happy Batshitites Day

toomanytrees · 14/07/2021 15:10

A day for happy non binary people? Does this exclude all the unhappy non binary people (of which there appear to be many)?

debwong · 14/07/2021 15:09

I actively avoid visiting vineyards. I am non-winery.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/07/2021 15:02

Mac and cheese sounds very binary to me. They need to queer it up with some pineapple or a clownfish or something.

NonnyMouse1337 · 14/07/2021 15:00

Ah WeeBisom, you see, gender is a spectrum only for those extra sparkly special people. Everyone else is a boring caricature. But not them, you know! So unique and magical. So valid. So full of shite.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 14:57

Well, quite - and even gender being a 'spectrum' is hopelessly one-dimensional. You really need to visualise it in multi dimensional space though that can get quite complex.

WeeBisom · 14/07/2021 14:54

Something occurred to me … we are told repeatedly that gender is on a “spectrum” and not a binary. If gender is a spectrum then how is non binary even a thing? By definition gender is already non binary and so there are no binary gendered people ! Has anyone ever explained how non binary identify fits with gender being on a spectrum?

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 14:54

Is there a Euler's Identity day?

ScreamingMeMe · 14/07/2021 14:53

What cake are we having to celebrate? Weetabix?

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 14:52

Happy Plop A Goady Thread And Run Day!

Two today, we're being spoilt 🎉

Why, Ambassador, with these goady posts you are really spoiling us!

BingBongSong · 14/07/2021 14:50

According to a local restaurant it's also national Mac and Cheese day, ds will be pleased.

Soontobe60 · 14/07/2021 14:49

@PumpkinSpiceWoman is really good at lobbing in a ‘controversial’ post then disappearing - a bit like a group of 8 year olds playing knock-a-door run 🤣

Soontobe60 · 14/07/2021 14:46

@FlyPassed

National Pie Day is the one I'm looking forward to the most (23rd jan if anyone else wants to celebrate)
Is it inclusive of all pies? What about shepherds pie? Or fish pie? What about vegan pies? When is a pie not a pie?

I have a feeling that as some of these people mature they will look at 14th July as an annual cringe day when they look back and realise what a load of old bollocks it was.

Dollpiglet · 14/07/2021 14:40

But while being non-binary allows me to play with gender, laugh at my own physical entity, and occupy as much space as feels most comfortable, I’m also forced to confront the fact that others will perceive me as gendered whether I like it or not, and that there are very real barriers that stop me from having my identity recognised in society.'

What is non binary manspread called?

AlfonsoTheMango · 14/07/2021 14:39

@ErrolTheDragon - Good one! Grin

We identify as counting...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/07/2021 14:37

There's only one of me so happy me day! :)

ANewCreation · 14/07/2021 14:33

Here is the bracingly clear Helen Joyce, who always seems to get straight to the heart of the matter. Her new book is out tomorrow.

“The words ‘male’ and ‘female’ cannot mean both biology and identity. And setting aside the thorny question of what it might mean to feel male or female, why would such a feeling matter, if being male or female does not?”(p205)

bellinisurge · 14/07/2021 14:33

International Bores Day. I don't give a shit. I do what is apparently non-binary stuff every fucking day of my life. It's called "doing my thing, being me". I don't need a "Day".
Woman = Adult Human Female.
I am still one of those and sometimes it matters.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 14:33

@AlfonsoTheMango

I use Base 0 rather than Base 10, making me non-binary. Go, me!
I'm pretty sure people who use base zero don't count.Grin
Artesia · 14/07/2021 14:29

@lionheart

Stonewall etc.,

www.stonewall.org.uk/about-us/news/being-non-binary-uk-today

'But while being non-binary allows me to play with gender, laugh at my own physical entity, and occupy as much space as feels most comfortable, I’m also forced to confront the fact that others will perceive me as gendered whether I like it or not, and that there are very real barriers that stop me from having my identity recognised in society.'

I laugh at my physical entity on a very regular basis. Usually in a slightly bitter way, as I try to cram my ever expanding physical entity into my depressingly too small jeans.

Does that make me non-binary? Or do I need to specifically laugh at my non binary sex organs?

MsFogi · 14/07/2021 14:20

When are "Rad Fem" and "Gender Critical Women" days? I would be very happy to celebrate them. I'm finding it difficult to muster up much enthusiasm for non-binary day, indeed, work out why this has been posted on the Feminist board? Is it okay to post irrelevant stuff on this board MNTowers yet anything with even the most tenuous link to self-id/gender critical stuff gets swept onto this board? Surely, this sort oft thread should be moved to the LGBTQwerty board?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/07/2021 14:14

dolphin-friendly.

I'm non dolphinary, personally
