And BOOM!

Here we have it.

Wherever something happens that gets a lot of attention, ideas shift further into the 'let's alienate another load of ordinary people' zone.

'Your problem is focusing on people's sex rather than on their actions, acting like someone's sex makes someone inherently dangerous.'

This one has been trickling along in the background but seems to be much more prominent during and following the wispa thing.

Interestingly the idea that
Male violence is a 'dog whistle' and comment above, are the same as the MRA argument that has been around for yonks. That the term male violence is in unfair, NAMALT, it's a people problem not a male problem, you can't tar them all with the same brush. And of course, women do it too, which has been picked up as a trans argument since at least Karen white.

Well well well.

Keep your eyes out for this folks!

You see if males with trans identities do the things that 'never happen' and it's happening in ways that will obviously make most people think WTF.

The next step can only be to say that it's not fair on anyone male to recognise the global historical experience of male on female oppression and violence esp sexual violence. All the public 'safety' info, our own experiences, the fact that news seems to be almost always one way when it comes to sexually motivated crime and overt or more subtle sexually motivated awful behaviour to women and girls. All over the world all the time including CSA, mass rape in war etc, girls being bombarded with requests for nudes on social media. The constant stream of entertainment media reinforcing that men raping women is just something that happens because we are essentially prey...

All of that must be ignored because it's not fair for women and girls to ingest all this and then be wary if a man approaches them when no one is around, should not have concern about situations where they would not worry if it was a woman etc.

Sooooo... Now, acceptance of TWAW means ignoring everything we know about men, and treating and reacting to all men as we do with women... (The vast vast majority of women do risk assess differently).

If that isn't an out and out MRA move then I don't know what is.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 16/07/2021 13:41

I don't understand why your average person can look at this story and say "that's appalling", and yet TRAs can't look at WiSpa or women's genuine experiences of sharing prisons with transwomen and say the same...

Why the dogged insistence of defending anything that's crammed into the "trans" box.

Surely trans people and their allies should want to distance themselves from paedophiles and perverts.

It's baffling.

BatmansBat · 16/07/2021 13:40

That is awful Grombles. I hope that transgender magician will launch a hefty lawsuit. Nothing can ever justify treating anyone worse based on appearance or, indeed, gender. I would definitely sign any petition to launch an investigation into how this was allowed to happen and to punish the responsible.

Etorhi · 16/07/2021 13:34

That is a sad story. And genuine discrimination. Why aren't the trans lobby fighting cases like this, rather than trying to destroy women's safeguards.

It baffles me 🤔

Megasausagehead · 16/07/2021 13:33

WTAF now that's ridiculous.

Magically force people to be trans? I've heard everything now.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 16/07/2021 13:29

I look at stories like this and wonder why the trans lobby aren't more concerned with fighting genuine cases of discrimination than with defending the indefensible.

Just because something is about "trans" doesn't mean you have to put all your brain cells in a box to one side.

This story is about a transwoman facing genuinely appalling discrimination. And yet we have TRAs defending Drag Queen Story Hour when participants where found out to be paedophiles, TRAs defending the WiSpa incident, and TRAs insisting women share jail cells with pre-op transwomen who commit sexual and violent crimes at the same rate as the general male population.

If TRAs were to fight for what is right and not simply what is trans, I could get on board.

Thank you for getting back to me CuriousPanda

According to the article above, it seems that they suspect that non-trans men are pretending to be trans to get into women’s prisons.

There also seems to be a lawsuit where a transwoman is accused of raping a female inmate in the prison (and of multiple sexual assaults). See below.

news.wttw.com/2020/02/19/lawsuit-female-prisoner-says-she-was-raped-transgender-inmate

According to the article I posted previously, (previous post) the inmates are 8 in a single cell and the majority or transwomen are attracted to women.

Then there are the frequent erections at these transwomen seem to still have their penises.

To be honest, as a woman, I would not like to share a room with people who were getting erections, fancied me/the other women and might be wanking in the middle of the night. And that is before we are talking about actual sexual harassment/assault (see rape case above).

CuriousPanda, do you see why I worry about these women?

I don’t want to ask you if you have a penis (that is a very intrusive question) but for women, a penis (especially an erect one) can be uncomfortable/threatening, especially if you have been subject to sexual assault.

Etorhi · 16/07/2021 13:23

Goodness Grombles, the stats are even higher than one in two transwomen prisoners being sex offenders.

Shame on you Panda.

Etorhi · 16/07/2021 13:19

Says someone who has absolutely no idea what it feels like to be a woman by sex trapped in a enclsed space with a man by sex she doesn't know.

💯.

GromblesofGrimbledon · 16/07/2021 13:19

Ideology over facts. Here are some statistics for you to digest.

Redapplewreath · 16/07/2021 13:14

Your choice to deny and overlook sex is yours. It's not mine. It's not that of many women. Those women should not be forced to validate political beliefs they do not hold with the physical presence and vulnerability of their bodies, their bodily privacy, their bodily dignity, their physical safety, in order to enable some natal male people freer choice and autonomy.

In the hope that the ideology is proven right, rather than that they suffer as a result.

Unless it is a valid argument that no one should be in sex segregated prisons, and these are unnecessary, it is pointless to argue that some natal male people should be given the choice of whether or not they are able to have direct access to the presence of natal females. (And those natal females given no choice about whether or not they consent.)

The fact that those natal male people may be serious sex offenders just takes the whole 'female people treated as subhuman props' part to purely ridiculous levels.

I do not expect you and everyone else to agree that you have a guardian angel or to state that you accept Christ as your saviour, or genuflect as the passing of an altar. The limits of personal belief are compelling the non consenting participation of others. And to require that they sacrifice their own sense of privacy, dignity, safety and legal rights to subordinate themselves to the politics of others?

It's outrageous. And deeply sexist.

Etorhi · 16/07/2021 13:13

Your problem is focusing on people's sex rather than on their actions, acting like someone's sex makes someone inherently dangerous.

The majority of sexual assaults are carried out by males no matter how they identify. One in two transwomen prisoners are sex offenders, compared to around one in five of the rest of the male estate.

Would you be happy for your mum to be sharing a cell with one of these transladies? 50 /50 chance.

I think your problem is that your ideology blinds you to actual facts.

CuriousPanda · 16/07/2021 13:03

@BatmansBat

CuriousPanda I think that the poster asking about how you would feel if it was your mother was trying to tap into your empathy. Sometimes it is easier to put yourself into a situation if you try to see it from others perspective.

I do find it sad that your immediate response is to think that it is unlikely to happen to your mother. Instead of thinking about all the women (and mothers) it happens to on a daily basis.

These women are likely to be less fortunate and more vulnerable than your mother.

It is always so easy to give away rights that do not affect oneself or ones loved ones. I think it is important to also think about the people who are less fortunate.

Frankly, "in a jail cell with a man", in and of itself, means nothing to me. If they were a confirmed sexual predator, then that'd be an issue, but if it was someone well-behaved who simply took a wrong turn somewhere with a non-violent crime, I don't think it'd be much of a problem at all.

Your problem is focusing on people's sex rather than on their actions, acting like someone's sex makes someone inherently dangerous.

BatmansBat · 16/07/2021 13:01

I believe that CuriousPanda will be back and tell me that he does care about vulnerable women.

I think it would be very sad if Panda didn’t even consider that a very vulnerable woman, same age as their mother may be upset at sharing a cell with someone who was getting erections. Therefore, I will believe that Panda will consider this and comment on it.

FloralBunting · 16/07/2021 12:12

Among stiff competition, tapping into the empathy of a TRA like this is arguably the most outlandishly unlikely possibility on the thread so far. Grin

Why would my mother be in jail?

Not relevent. It's not a discussion about whether your mother is likely to end up in jail or not. No one here knows your mother. One could think you were trying to avoid answering the question.

If your mother was in jail then would you be happy for her to be sharing a cell / showers with a transwoman.
Yes?
Or
No?
