Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Does anyone ever wonder how this will end?

I can see three scenarios.

 1. women lose and we end up living in some nightmarish high tec version of ancient Rome, where woman and children is a sub human resource to be exploited in anyway a man wants at an given moment.
 2. the mass hysteria quietly dies down and every kind of pretents this was never a thing (and in fact it was only those nasty feminists making a fuss that caused all this misunderstanding in the first place).
 3. due to the sheer insanity of gender idology, society slowly starts to listen to women and the horror of the unfairness wakes everyone up to womans humanity and gender stereotypes and finally totally abandoned and we all live happly ever after.

No, there aren't 'ex gays'. There are bisexuals who have settled into heterosexual marriages, repressed and often abused homosexuals either faking it in straight marriages or forcing themselves to be lifelong celibates, or transmen who are now miraculously straight men.

OldCrone · 12/07/2021 22:52

Simple, can a trans woman simply live her life as a woman without facing harassment and abuse, being villified as "fetishistic perverted degenerate" and without her existence becoming the subject of a moral panic?

I don't know where you live or what sort of people you mix with, but I don't know anyone who uses language like that.

Trans people are protected under the law from harassment and abuse, just the same as anyone else. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but it can be reported to the police. They actually have more protection than women in that respect, since misogyny doesn't come under hate crime legislation.

A transwoman can't live exactly as a woman because a transwoman is male (by definition). If they were treated exactly the same as a woman they would have less protection under the law as I've just explained. Is that what they want?

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/07/2021 22:51

I wish some of you cheerleaders would do some reading, and some thinking.

dyslek · 12/07/2021 22:51

Yes, I also think there is a strong possiblity whatever happens, women wont get their rights back.

I'm not sure if you've noticed, Panda, but that's an almost exclusively USAian, evangelical thing, and the list of people who no longer support the movement is longer than those that do. Also, two of the five named supporters are deceased.
This is a religious-based movement.

I don't think detransitioners are like that at all.

Scutterbug · 12/07/2021 22:50

@BlueberryCheezecake

4) Trans acceptance becomes the norm without any catastrophic consequences and the people who opposed it will be looked back on with the same distaste as those who opposed gay marriage equality and supported Section 28.
This!!

Anyone should be able to live their life without harassment and abuse. But there should always, always be questions asked when someone wants to change the law and break down boundaries that are in place to protect women and children.

FloralBunting · 12/07/2021 22:49

I hope for sanity and a return to the decent trajectory of genuine equality we had been on.

What I think is more likely is Q-slur genderists will push and push and push until the backlash has serious consequences. Homophobia is already blooming again, I'm beginning to take more precautions when I'm out.

I expect to be subjected to more gut swooping examples of casual misogyny, racism and homophobia by transactivists, and I think that as we make a few good steps to deal with institutional capture the movement will seed itself more firmly in softer spots, like churches.

But it was ever thus. For women, we're never 'there', and predators will always seek victims, which is why safeguarding matters.

dyslek · 12/07/2021 22:48

@Blibbyblobby The problem is tho that most of this is driven by misogny so even if women re name themself so they can describe their oppression, men will still want to coopt whatever new identity woman create.
The hatered some men have for women drives them to litterly want to consume womenhood in the ultimate act of destruction/assimilation. That is the urge here and its not going to go away, even if women change thair name.

OP posts:
Cabinfever10 · 12/07/2021 22:47

I see things getting much worse for women and girls in particular as the extremist trans movement destroys what little safeguarding we have left and then there will be several high profile rapes and murders (plus a few thousand not so high profile) and it will cause a backlash that Mary Whitehouse couldn't imagine in her wildest dreams that will make section 28 look positively progressively woke but it won't just be the misogynistic sexual preditors (Karen White ect) pervs (like monkey man) and abusers (who take any opportunity they can find to abuse) who will pay no it will be the lgbt Community who pay. Oh and I doubt that women will get back any of our lost rights

CuriousPanda · 12/07/2021 22:45

@dyslek
What stops trans people living as equals with everyone else?
How specifically are trans people not living as equals with other people?
Simple, can a trans woman simply live her life as a woman without facing harassment and abuse, being villified as "fetishistic perverted degenerate" and without her existence becoming the subject of a moral panic?

@dyslek
also, what the hell are ex gays? coz thats totally a thing Confused

Leafstamp · 12/07/2021 22:45

Good idea for a thread OP. I think number 3, but without gender stereotypes disappearing.

Also keen to hear more about “the ability to live as equals”. I think they mean that any man who says they are a woman should be treated as a woman. The problems with that are endless so it will never happen, IMO.

dyslek · 12/07/2021 22:43

Any minute now...

@RufustheBadgeringReindeer oh, you cynic you. Any min now the veils are about to be lifted from our eyes and we will see how foolish we all were to think there is a problem with ditching all legal and social protections and respect for women.

Juno Dawson used to be a gay man.

Stephen Whittle used to be a lesbian.

Maybe these are the people Curious is referring to. Transing away the gay.

user888 · 12/07/2021 22:42

I've just come back in my time machine and @Blibbyblobby has nailed it, as usual.

Blibbyblobby · 12/07/2021 22:40

2) the mass hysteria quietly dies down and every kind of pretents this was never a thing (and in fact it was only those nasty feminists making a fuss that caused all this misunderstanding in the first place).

Something along these lines. Trans ideology will initially force the total loss of any sex-based rights and spaces. However the reality of the physical and cultural differences that female people have to deal with won't go away so sex-based feminism will re-emerge with new terminology that allows the issues to be described in terms that don't scare the ideologues and will be taken up again by progressives

The imaginary TERF will continue to be a bogeyman for self-defined progressives even as they unknowingly stand behind exactly the things that so-called TERFs were saying a decade before. This will never be recognised and acknowledged.

In the meantime, many individual female people will suffer because of trans ideology. This will also never be recognised and acknowledged.

Ironically, many trans-identifying people will also be miserable, because the focus on confirming trans identities without question means actual co-existing problems will be neglected.

Why did i say i dont think…it isn’t anyone on here

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 12/07/2021 22:38

Interesting choice of words. Who are you quoting when you say "deviant"

I don’t think its anyone on here
@Anotheeuser02
Me too. There will be more Wi Spa's, lots of busy lawyers, detransitioners will get louder.
Detransitioners are the ex-gays of this decade. A tiny minority among the tiny minority that is lovebombed for "rejecting the deviant lifestyle" and "returning back to normal", and subsequently weaponized against the larger "deviant" group.
Interesting choice of words. Who are you quoting when you say "deviant"?

dyslek · 12/07/2021 22:33

'the ability to live as equals' please do expand on that, with examples so we can see what exactly you mean.

OP posts:
Innocenta · 12/07/2021 22:32

@CuriousPanda Your attack on detransitioners (who have often been significantly traumatised by their experiences, in addition to, in some cases, earlier trauma) is really quite crass.

LizzieSiddal · 12/07/2021 22:32

There is another option, the small percentage of men and trans woman stop abusing, humiliating, frightening and killing woman and girls and we can all share spaces safely.

I won’t hold my breath.

dyslek · 12/07/2021 22:31

curious please dont invalidate other peoples lived experiance. you are erazing the pain detransitioners, that is highly offensive.
