I know it the Mail - but another example of the ridiculous situation we are in. A dangerous man (working for the police..) is recorded as female for his crime.

I see your point, Highame, but as long as the information is correct I don't mind who posted it. Honesty and accuracy are what matters.

What I find truly biased, and unacceptable, is the authorities forcing witnesses (including victims) and reporters to pretend male attackers are women. I think we agree on that.

TheHandmadeTails · 11/07/2021 12:09

Those are very good articles.

’It’s not easy for the female athletes to train all year long to compete, and yet we allow these stupid things to happen,’ said the Samoan prime minister. ‘The reality is that gold medals belong to Samoa.’

Is this the only world leader standing up against this?

Howcanthisbe123 · 11/07/2021 11:44

I seriously can not get my head around how 1% of the population is taking over 51% of it so easily!

It’s just eye watering.

highame · 11/07/2021 11:39

A much better explanation than mine Errol

highame · 11/07/2021 11:38

I think you've misunderstood (I didn't explain when I should) @thinkingaboutLangCleg and @Babdoc

What I meant was that I didn't know how accurate it was in terms of the organisation. I didn't want to be posting a link to something that was 'anti-trans' rather than GC.

Thelnebriati · 11/07/2021 11:36

Transcrime has a purpose.
Transcrime has a focus.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/07/2021 11:28

I think highame simply used the wrong word.
Transcrime has an agenda, which is clearly stated 'Documenting crimes committed by transgender individuals in the U.K.'

It's free of the ridiculous IPSO rules re 'gender' vs sex, so can report accurately unlike the press (though the DM watts piece was a particularly egregious example of being misleading )

The transcrime site shouldn't be necessary, the data ought to be captured in official records and statistics but isn't.

If anyone hasn't yet seen the petition 'Require sex of VATP & sexual offenders be recorded throughout justice system.' on petition.parliament.uk do take a look for it.

Thelnebriati · 11/07/2021 11:11

''Transcrime has bias'' - what a ridiculous comment.

''Ministry of Justice figures show that in 2019 there were 163 transgender prisoners, of whom 81 had been convicted of sexual offences.''
Not fake figures, official MOJ figures.

Masdintle · 11/07/2021 10:54

Which prison has this individual been sent to? I suspect my reading skills aren't what they were...

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 11/07/2021 10:32

But is that bias, Highame?

tbh, I misunderstood. I assumed that acknowledgement of a particular perspective was built in and that the information was still useful because its sources are openly available and can be verified.

Plus, as somebody once pointed out:

I love to phone up donkey sanctuaries and scream: "WHAT ABOUT THE SQUIRRELS?" (I could start my own squirrel charity, but hey... ).

I mention this as I should think that if I've misinterpreted highame then the remedy might be for highame to put together examples where transcrimesuk is mistaken and ask for them to be corrected.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/07/2021 10:32

This is an article by an organisation called transcrimeuk, which clearly has bias.

Yes, most media sources clearly have bias too.

FridayNightByCandlelight · 11/07/2021 10:28

@EmbarrassingAdmissions

We would then have a clear picture of patterns of crime committed by females, crimes committed by males and crimes committed by people of either sex who identify as the other.

Which might give some helpful insights into types of crimes and drivers.

Exactly.
Whatwouldscullydo · 11/07/2021 10:14

These false statistics were used by a poster on another thread to complain about safeguarding

This is the huge worry.

When "women " become as bad as men for all those crimes then there will be no need to segregate us will there as we are all as bad as eachother.

Babdoc · 11/07/2021 10:09

Highame do you accept the FACTS:
that HALF of all transwomen in prison are there for sex offences?
That transwomen commit crimes at the same rate as men, not women?
That there are more trans murderers than trans murder victims?
And that women need honest factual reporting of trans crimes, and protected single sex spaces from all men, however they “identify”?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 11/07/2021 09:51

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 11/07/2021 09:51

This is an article by an organisation called transcrimeuk, which clearly has bias.

But is that bias, Highame? Isn’t it just information? We’re endlessly being told transwomen pose no threat to us. Transcrimeuk simply reports facts as far as I can see.

The site reports crime by transpeople — usually transwomen, as you’d expect, because they commit more crimes than transmen. Statistics show that men commit more crimes than women.

Its name states its purpose clearly, so there’s no dishonesty.

FridayNightByCandlelight · 11/07/2021 09:24

If they wanted to record the data meaningfully, they'd record sex and gender identity.

We would then have a clear picture of patterns of crime committed by females, crimes committed by males and crimes committed by people of either sex who identify as the other.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 11/07/2021 09:16

@TheHandmadeTails

Thanks for the links. Someone on here the other day started a thread and apologised for providing a link to the Guardian Grin
And so they should!

😀

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 11/07/2021 09:15

@NCwhatsmynameagain

The DM has until recently been almost one the only paper reporting on these issues. Regardless of their overall stance, it’s excellent that they are bringing this issue into the light. We definitely need more of this
I agree with this and everyone else who has mentioned it, this is the paper that wouldnt let the murder of Stephen Lawrence lie
highame · 11/07/2021 08:59

My mistake, I didn't see this in the DM, should have checked first. This is an article by an organisation called transcrimeuk, which clearly has bias.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/07/2021 08:49

That's the case I linked to the DM coverage of upthread, highame - they reported Watts as being 'female'. I'm not sure it mentioned watts being a transwoman at all. (But it did have quite a few photos)

MondayYogurt · 11/07/2021 08:47

Since Dacre left The DM has been consistently readable on these issues.

highame · 11/07/2021 08:38

transcrimeuk.com/2021/05/23/kyle-zoe-watts/ I'm sure this has been posted at some point but here's another case of a 'women' committing male offences. However, what's interesting is that because this isn't a crime linked to sex, and Kyle was a police officer, they seem happy to call Kyle/Zoe (who identifies as) a trans woman. They're pretty clear when they want to de-tarnish police officers????

They need to classify as a separate category

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/07/2021 08:33

I wish this could reach other newspapers, I would like to send a link to some family members but they won't believe anything that isn't in the Guardian Confused
