@PurgatoryOfPotholes

Can someone explain how children's literacy is improved by seeing someone dressed up in a multicoloured monkey suit with a plastic phallus attached?

Also, by how much? Presumably they believe that seeing someone in a multicoloured costume without phallus has a positive effect. How many literacy points is the phallus supposed to be worth?

Maybe it's so children can practice being polite and not looking at the penis.
ScreamingMeMe · 11/07/2021 16:41

Oh Furries, brace yourself.

ScreamingMeMe · 11/07/2021 16:40

Whoops, didn't refresh there.

I wonder how OP thinks their thread went? Well? Not so well? Grin

Furries · 11/07/2021 16:40

@dyslek

They also have a 'wolf pack'

Furries anyone?

Oh god, do I need to be namechanging? I’m almost to scared to google what this could mean!

For the kids dontcha know.

Honestly. When I was a kid the library was wonderful. Quiet, respectful, with a great smell, and that wonderful feeling when the book you were after was back in.

Now it's all council commissioned pervs leaping around with pseudo cocks hanging out.

Well, as Jarvis DuPont highlighted in her moving piece about her spa ordeal, there are an awful lot of uneducated kids out there who need to get more used to cocks hanging out.

Furries · 11/07/2021 16:36

@Datun

It's everywhere. There is a bloody library in Redbridge, where Labour commissioned a man to dress up as a rainbow coloured monkey, with a bare arse and a massive dildo dangling between his legs.

For the kids dontcha know.

I’ve been catching up on this thread. It has certainly been very eye opening (and am pleased that at least some of the lines quoted are still available to see).

Reaching this post, I really thought it must be a joke. I’m starting to think that maybe the theory that we are all living in the matrix IS true, because my brain is having difficulty realising what our everyday life is really like.

I want to be transported to a nacho chamber.

This will not end well. Offensive stunts like this that undermine safeguarding are just the excuse that certain religious groups in the area will use to challenge the council (and by default schools) about openly celebrating queer theory and exposing children to dodgy adults.

It was Devon libraries that had the twerking drag queen I believe...

Sorry, I know this is a serious issue but that did make me snort!
Tinysalmonswimminginastream · 11/07/2021 16:06

I honestly think that someone posting 'when you've got it flaunt it' about a penis (fake or not) at a children's public event, is a police matter. Just, what the actual fuck?

@dyslek

yep, never happen again. Until the heat dies down. Then its back to middle aged men in hyper sexualised woman face teaching the kids how to twerk.
It is a very convenient boundary test of the Overton window…
RedDogsBeg · 11/07/2021 15:34

Redbridge Library apology - yeah right.

The dildo monkey is standing next to the desk in the library before they raced out of the doors, so according to Redbridge Libraries NO-ONE saw that costume? What they mean is they did indeed see the costume but thought it was perfectly acceptable, funny even, progressive, inclusive, yada, yada and then when the complaints hit tipping point they started plastic bare arse covering.

No doubt they are sitting in their back offices bemoaning all the dreadful prudes, how everyone complaining is just not progressive, liberal or open minded enough, no doubt everyone who complained is getting a variety of nasty nicknames attached to them.

Manderleyagain · 11/07/2021 15:13

"This will never happen again"

Seems unlikely. Next time it won't be a dangling todger bare arsed rainbow monkey grown man, but something else dodgy will happen. The initial response from the twitter account and the fact whoever was running the event from the library side let it go ahead, proudly published pics, and they've only changed their tune because of complaints since, suggests it will happen again.

The Redbridge Library twitter account is back...

1/2 During an event put on at the library today there was a performance by a Carnival Arts Company. Unfortunately one of the animal costumes was inappropriate which we were not aware of at the time of booking. We deeply apologise for the offence caused. This is being looked into

2/2 and a further statement will be made. This event was arranged by Vision and not Redbridge Council. Upon receiving complaints passed on by the Leader and Deputy Leader, we ceased the performance and are truly apologetic for the distress caused to residents. This will never

3/3 happen again.

Am I a prude?

We all must be. Dontcha know there's nothing wrong with dick, plastic or real, and if we don't want our kids clapping eyes on dick, we should just teach them that it's goddamn fucking rude to stare at said dick that's swinging in their faces. Or something.

2021 man, get with it.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 11/07/2021 14:53

One of the comments on that Janice Turner thread:

It's just a harmless kink, the kind of stuff kids see every year at Pride.

Hmm

Furries anyone?

Yep.

"This traveling group of wolves cruise the town, sniffing howling and looking for the ideal candidate to be their new master Behind their imposing and terrifying appearance there lies a kid friendly, intelligent and cheeky canine ready to be stroke and fetch."
