Suffragette ribbon in the wild

Seen at legoland this week, tied to a fence by some benches. Perhaps I don’t get out much but I’ve not seen anything like that before, other than online I mean.

I have ribbons on my bag and after seeing this I'm going to start taking some out with me to post about on my walks. Maybe the laminator will come in handy to keep the cards from getting weather damaged.

aweegc · 02/07/2021 22:29

I agree that ideally this an amusement park wouldn't be where this would be found.

BUT

Kids are being taught IN SCHOOL that they're in the wrong bodies. There are kids IN SCHOOL who cannot express that biological sex is a reality for fear of social repercussions and some woke teachers.

So a ribbon with a little hand written tag in an amusement park seems rather tame.

The self appointed thread monitor crap is starting to wear extremely thin. Particularly given that threads seem to be getting bounced from board to board, seemingly at random, and often without the OP's knowledge.

Anyway, I have a few personal rules about where I tie my ribbons - I don't put them on memorial benches and I don't tie them on small business properties where the owners are likely to face backlash from TRA's. I can see where @Caramellatteplease is coming from and can also see pp's points regarding politics being where mothers are. I would have probably tied them near the Legoland entrance rather than in it but that's just personal preference.

In any case, it's always nice to see ribbons in the wild. Someone near me has tied ribbons very prominently to the trees in their front garden and it always makes me smile!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 02/07/2021 22:23

Love seeing these ribbons all over the country.

Deliriumoftheendless · 02/07/2021 22:10

You didn’t approach it?

Them’s dangerous I hear.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 02/07/2021 21:59

@Caramellatteplease

I wouldn't want to see TWAW stickers etc at legoland. By putting a ribbon there you are putting a child centred location up for grabs as a political battlefield.

Its distasteful.

Kids being encouraged to believe they may be born in the wrong body.

Being prescribed puberty blockers.

Adults cheerleading them to have surgery to remove healthy body parts.

That ribbon and those words are definitely distasteful.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 02/07/2021 21:56

That's fantastic. I'd be so excited if I'd seen it.

DaisiesandButtercups · 02/07/2021 21:52

How lovely! Thanks for sharing. It lifts the spirits. Grin

Theeyeballsinthesky · 02/07/2021 21:32

There were ribbons in the wild in exeter on Saturday Grin

Sexnotgender · 02/07/2021 21:27

Love it!

OnTheSeaShore · 02/07/2021 21:17

How fab to see that and I think it's absolutely an apt place to position it.

I've bought some lovely ribbon in suffragette colours, I just need to get out and start decorating. Smile

MotherOffCod · 02/07/2021 21:08

It got moved just as I posted apparently. MNHQ are very on the ball this evening apparently.

I’ll leave you to it…

Wanttocry · 02/07/2021 21:07

@Ninkanink I don’t think so, I was very careful where I put it to avoid this very issue. Perhaps the little link at the top that takes you straight to the “feminism: chat” board has caused the confusion.

OP posts:
RedDogsBeg · 02/07/2021 21:06

@Ninkanink

Maybe it’s been moved already? Or maybe *@MotherOffCod* has wandered onto the ‘wrong’ topic.

Either way, happy to see the ribbon!

As MotherOffCod has now withdrawn her post I suspect the fault was entirely theirs, be nice to have an apology but I guess that's asking too much.

ArabellaScott · 02/07/2021 21:04

Also, suffragettes are relevant to feminism.

Wanttocry · 02/07/2021 21:02

@MotherOffCod

You guys realise this is on the feminism chat board?

There’s a whole board devoted to this topic for posts and discussions.

Is there any chance we could have this one just for other stuff, like mnhq intended it?

According to what I can see, this is on the feminism sex and gender board

ArabellaScott · 02/07/2021 21:02

Bonnie!

Ninkanink · 02/07/2021 21:01

I’ll comment where I like when it comes to women and children’s rights and protections, thanks. I believe that’s what feminism is about? —Women’s issues?

Or is it about something else now?

@PronounssheRa

In legoland? Do we need politics at a child centred theme park?

Suffragette ribbons in a place where lots of mothers take their children, I think it's the perfect place. It's hardly a recruitment poster for the BNPConfused

This.

Children and young people are being directly victimised and mentally as well as physically damaged (and will be damaged even more so in years to come, to a truly horrible extent) due to the ideological shit storm we’re in the midst of.

So yes, we need politics where the mothers are.

So are organisations grooming young children and telling them that being born in the wrong body is a thing and that a prescription of untested and potentially dangerous off-label hormones can fix them.
