I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Sympathy is a bit more difficult to find when you have been called various swear words!

BlackeyedSusan · 11/08/2021 00:26

Just sitting in the corner with ear defenders. Two hours of bloody talking and quite a bit of being sworn at and a sensory meltdown imminent...

Someone is poorly but not so poorly that they go quiet. Oh no. We've had the ranty poorly.

Gertrude the Goat
Oftener up a tree than on the grass,
Trump'd every day she lived...?

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman there's a thread on another board discussing the same issue as a thread on here and it's quite eye opening the difference in moderation tolerance. One or two comments have made me think 'eeek! You'll get a deletion for that for sure!' and then I've realised it's not this board.

mollythemeerkat · 10/08/2021 22:43

Highame - the voles arrived this morning - some of them were a bit travelsick. We have organised them into two teams - one is mowing the lawn and the others are dusting with the dusters you sent. They send their best regards.

Waitwhat23 · 10/08/2021 22:38

Sloe gin is delicious. Tescos Finest make a nice one. I've planted a sloe bush in my garden but I think it's going to be a long, long time before I get enough berries to make my own sloe gin.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/08/2021 22:32

ShockShockShock Errol! You are missing out.

I've never tried it with lemon tonic but normal tonic is good.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/08/2021 21:55

That sounds delicious. Though I must make a confession.... I've never actually had any sloe gin.

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman I'll have a sloe gin mixed with lemon tonic if it's available - it makes the flavour of the sloes come out all the better

SpringCrocus · 10/08/2021 21:01

I hate gin so I make fruit vodkas instead. Gin gives me hurty feelz.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/08/2021 20:36

GAH! Sloe gin. I hate autocorrupt.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/08/2021 20:35

Anyway, slow gin, anyone?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/08/2021 20:34

I might have used the term 'hurty feelz' in a context considered a bit challenging. I think that was what it was. I can't remember anything else from that post likely to cause distress.

I keep saying things that I think are just this side of the guidelines and a couple of times it's turned out that they're not.

ablutiions · 10/08/2021 19:42

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman what the hell did you say? Which is a daft question because if you repeat it, they will delete it again 😂

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/08/2021 15:44

I've just noticed that I've racked up another deletion. Apparently addressing our monitors directly and asking them how they might feel if it was them just isn't on.

Admittedly I did use some disrespectful language, but nothing in the league of abuse or threats. I thought I might skating close to the line but nope, I was beyond it.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/08/2021 15:10

I'm just back from a nice walk, in the course of which we saw some rare breed pigs (gloucester old spot, I think), including a section of field with a sow and six tiny piglets. They were like puppies, a bit unsteady, flopping down in the grass at random, piling up and arranging themselves into rows.

I like voles. And goats. Gertrude can huddle under my quilt and share a cheese straw

highame · 10/08/2021 07:02

Gertrude the Goat - homage to Gertrude Bunbury

@mollythemeerkat how are the Voles doing? Are they trained in house duties? Not sure I want them back unless you've trained them to nurture instead of destroy Geraniums.

ablutiions · 10/08/2021 06:48

@SpringCrocus you are a kindly soul. Good new re the relly. Anything done on your own terms is good I think.

Do we need to give the goat a name? I feel she deserves one.

Oh, and I've just seen that the sun is finally shining. Grin

SpringCrocus · 10/08/2021 04:37

@ablutiions
Come and join me under my precious
Quilt, with cheese and marmite straws, damson vodka and cider.
All organic, and v v tasty.
And I have a shower curtain to protect us from Camilla's drooling

SpringCrocus · 10/08/2021 04:31

A close relative, who I had gone nc with (because he's been a horrible twat) and he's finally reached out to me.

Being v cautious, but is quite nice to reconnect. Doing it entirely on my terms, via Email. They live in the NZ area, so no chance of me being physically involved, thank
Goddess

SpringCrocus · 10/08/2021 04:00

I've just reconnected with a distant relative?

ablutiions · 10/08/2021 03:08

@EmbarrassingAdmissions no sodding idea. TBH I can spend the whole night looking up recipes as it's A level results day tomorrow, DS is off overseas, very likely to be in clearing and I'm so stressed I can't sleep. A bit of scotch egg distraction may be the only way to calm my nerves. Who knew that scotch eggs could be so versatile?

I'm so cross with DFE for their fecking uselesslessness already that I may have to fetch the goat again tomorrow. That poor, poor animal, just when it was getting in so well with the camel.

Anyone got anything chirpy and uplifting, or so-bad-it's-funny to share, to lighten the mood?

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 23:50

You have no idea how much better your comments make me feel!

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 23:49

Funnily enough, this place is pretty much what I'm facing having to leave irl, sadly. Endless outbuldings, gardens, paddocks, barns, bar spaces, yurts, fields, woods etc etc.

I have actually had both Camels and Alpacas as pets livestock, in the past. Amongst other assorted creatures.
