I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

And lazy, trade in Henry and his blue hair and his hose for a sensible upright hoover. MIL used to have a Henry. The self-important little tosser used to fall over whenever he was asked to move.

theThreeofWeevils · 05/07/2021 17:57

Think I'll join you in a stiffish gin, Your Eminence

CardinalLolzy · 05/07/2021 17:54

Large gin please!

SelfPortraitWithEels · 05/07/2021 16:14

Made some pistachio biscotti from your recipe, Embarrassing! Anyone? They look a bit... um, geological, but I can promise that these ones are entirely free from fragments of shell unlike the ones I fed to DH.

@ArabellaScott

My turn to disinfect the camel, I suppose.
Remember not to use bleach, she’s allergic!

Use a good eco multi purpose cleaner, then leave her to drip dry in the glorious sunshine that’s been poured over the board today Grin

ArabellaScott · 05/07/2021 15:44

lazylinguist · 05/07/2021 15:38

I've got the opposite here, Grumpy - rained all morning, got soaked on my dog walk and now it's glorious sunshine while I'm stuck inside wrangling Henry and his bloody hose.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 05/07/2021 15:30

I see he has blue hair.

Definitely up for anything in the foodstuffs department. Have just been gardening, but it has begun to rain.

Ooh lovely- I'll have a decaf and a madeleine please. It might re-energise me into doing some housework...

lazylinguist · 05/07/2021 15:28

Good job we're virtual cause I don't have a Henry

I do. He's a heavy bastard, he has an annoying face and his hose keeps dropping off. I dunno about misgendering, but I certainly call him some choice names at times.

Turned · 05/07/2021 15:19

Coffee and madeleines anyone?

I have pre-ordered the Helen Joyce book.

highame · 05/07/2021 08:02

I've brought in Henry, the woke vacuum cleaner, pronouns carpets/clean. Wont work if mis gendered, so best be careful whilst I get rid of this camel hair. Good job we're virtual cause I don't have a Henry

highame · 05/07/2021 07:56

My Dgs has been eye rolling since before lockdown and he was caught up in all this for a while, so there is hope. Kids know when someone really needs help, they also know posturing when they see it.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 05/07/2021 03:06

Do you have any scampi fries?

There is a huge variety of snacks behind the bar if people haven't fed them all to the camel.

Have just finished the weekend's work. I shall now fall into bed and hope my shower is as revivifying as I need before my first meeting later this morning.

PetticoatSoldier · 04/07/2021 23:53

I've walked past a few times with the aim of popping in for a quick drink, but was too nervous to come in incase I got spotted by the woke bros at work. I've outed myself this week so I just gave them a cheery wave as I finally strolled in.

I'll have a large G&T please. Do you have any scampi fries?

SirSamuelVimes · 04/07/2021 21:33

majority of the kids she teaches are totally fed up with all the attention-seeking and posturing

I left teaching three years ago but even then a lot of students were pissed off with it all.

Olderbadger1 · 04/07/2021 21:22

Just coming in from communing with the camel (socially distanced obvs) to cheer you up a little with news from a teacher friend of mine who is constantly dealing with gender-fluids but who reports that the majority of the kids she teaches are totally fed up with all the attention-seeking and posturing.

Maybe the tide is turning a little bit. Keep the sand bags coming gals.

lazylinguist · 04/07/2021 20:17

I've brought a big steaming bowl of tagliatelle with olive oil, a squeeze of lemon juice, crispy pancetta, little broad beans just podded from the garden, basil and a load of parmesan and black pepper. I think I'll have a large glass of white with that.

highame · 04/07/2021 19:55

The good chefs Mark & Spencer have been in my kitchen (day off for me) and the microwave has just pinged - anyone? Tastes ok if you wash it down with plenty of wine

lazylinguist · 04/07/2021 19:22

Oh that does give me hope, DaisiesandButtercups - thank you!

DaisiesandButtercups · 04/07/2021 18:29

I used to have a woke 15 year old, I currently have a GC 17 year old. lazylinguist your story is familiar to me, that is how mine began to shift point of view.

Small mercies can grow into great blessings.

There is hope.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 04/07/2021 18:05

I've got the usual tapas items plus some cheeses, tortilla, and various stuffed peppers.

I shall be drinking slightly bitter drinks and nibbling away soon while the evening is warm.

Bluestocking is a much-needed sanctuary from the war on women.

ArabellaScott · 04/07/2021 15:03

Sure she'll get there, Rufus!

Granola? I had leftover curry and a banana muffin. Not all on the same plate, obvs.

highame · 04/07/2021 11:52

SirSam Black pudding with fried tomato, fabulous Grin

Don't be downcast, the sunlight is doing so much (mind you, the way I felt yesterday was just awful)
