I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Slumps quietly in corner. The football went on a bit. Ds was brought back later than hoped.

Licking my social-and-communication-disability wounds as someone was being twattish picking apart one of my posts and i still don't understand what the fecking problem was. (Bloody disability eh)

Can I book a slot for paella and pizza nights....

Turned · 12/07/2021 09:00

I’ve made tea and coffee, and brought in bread for toast, and some pastries. Also some books and knitting because it's horrible outside. Excuse me while I go to see if there's any room under Badger's blanket.

That monkey library dildo thing is hideous. I honestly don’t understand why the library attitude is all “hi, welcome, come on in, small children are that way” compared to the vitriol and censure around Jess de Wahls and her work. I know which one I’d rather have at my local library.

Olderbadger1 · 12/07/2021 00:57

Not to mention bloody Scottish Government @MiladyBerserko. I'm in Wales but I can see our woke loons making notes. Where you go we will follow. Rainbow peniles held aloft.

Have another on me.

MiladyBerserko · 11/07/2021 23:55

In need of a strong one. Straw men, plastic dildos and contrarians abound

Glug glug glug.

Olderbadger1 · 11/07/2021 23:31

Me too Grumpy. Rainbow monkey penis-wavers and enough bloody straw men to sink a ship. Please can I have a very large glass of very strong cider, a large plate of comfort food and a blanket to hide under until it's all over.

theThreeofWeevils · 11/07/2021 19:40

furry rainbow dildo monkey
Sounds like a cocktail. Which would also be UNSUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.
Stop the world, I really, really want to get off.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 11/07/2021 19:32

For future reference - the paella is a go for next Saturday night.

For those who can't make it (or, is a very convivial sort), there's a reasonable chance of another pizza night on Friday if anyone is up for it.

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 11/07/2021 18:48

I'd be doomed in the Brave New Scotland, then. My verbal filters aren't terribly good.

Anyway, I need a quadruple gin. I have just tottered away in horror from the furry rainbow dildo monkey discussion on the WiSpa thread.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 11/07/2021 13:45

you ain't seen nothing compared to what I have seen, nor had the conversations I have had, so stop telling me what words I may or may not use at my own bloody dinner table.

None of us needs our personal Greek Chorus of wokescolds providing an stream of criticism that is ground in sloganeering rather than critical thought. Even if it were the latter, it would need to be restricted to agreed times in order for it not to disrupt the rest of the activities that are necessary for familial or social relationships with adults.

I worry about this - particularly the ramifications in Scotland where, iirc, MSPs favour that people should be emboldened to report others for perceived hate crimes committed in conversations around a dinner table and such.

theThreeofWeevils · 10/07/2021 23:13

Next time you are communing with the camel, Grumpy, make a careful study of her range of facial expressions. I am sure there are a few that would come in useful, if you practice Smile

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/07/2021 22:34

AutumnCrocus, what you need is Madeira.
And chocolate. Definitely chocolate.
Wonderful combo...

Sorry about the wokescold. It gets tiring. I had one of mine preaching at me about racism the other day. Honest to God, kid, you ain't seen nothing compared to what I have seen, nor had the conversations I have had, so stop telling me what words I may or may not use at my own bloody dinner table.

JustcameoutGC · 10/07/2021 22:33

I have had the clan to visit for the first time in 2 years and I have discovered that my 80 year old mother would be very at home here. I gave her extra gin.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/07/2021 22:10

WineWineWinefor AutumnCrocus.

Quite glad I was occupied with housework and gardening today, on balance.

Popping in for a restorative snifter. There are some batshit posters out there tonight. I'm in need of a quiet spot..

AutumnCrocus · 10/07/2021 21:24

Vat of wine please.
Much wokescoldary has been ignored listened to, today.

On verge of giving her marching orders back to her Uni house.

Sophoclesthefox · 10/07/2021 20:19

R E S P EEEEEE C TEEEEEEE, I know what that means to meeeeee 🎵 🎼 🎶 🎤 Grin

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/07/2021 20:14

That looks fantastic Embarrassing. I'm a fan of creme brulee but will try this instead.

Glances at Sophocles singing in the corner - how about a bit of Aretha?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 10/07/2021 20:13

Bloody knackering weekend, this one. Nice to be able to pop into the pub. I can contribute this very lovely bottle of Madeira that DH won't notice has gone...

theThreeofWeevils · 10/07/2021 20:02

Happy to assist with paellas, Embarrassing, if another pair of hands is any use.
Anyone needing, ahem, ballast for the evening, I've set down iced dark sticky gingerbread over there. Approx 10,000 kcals a slice, but worth it.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 10/07/2021 19:39

@highame

Oooh Embarassing might I have some of the burned bottom bits of the Paella with mine
I'll see if I can order the ingredients in in time for next week - I'll make a vegetarian one in addition to the usual.

Waitwhat23 · 10/07/2021 19:32

Doubles and/or a large glass of wine for various posters today for their eloquence and grace under fire when faced with utter nonsense from ploppers.

Sophoclesthefox · 10/07/2021 19:07

Is there Karaoke in this pub, or does it make the camel too skittish?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 10/07/2021 18:56

@MrsOvertonsWindow

Well after a quick wander around the board this evening I am in need of gin. Tapas to accompany it sounds just the ticket EmbarrassingAdmissions . But what is burnt cream might I ask?
I have Catalan relatives so we're a Catalan rather than creme brulee household, IYSWIM:

spanishsabores.com/homemade-spanish-crema-catalana-recipe/

So - we usually have a batch of this on a regular basis or a cheesecake that features it. Alongside water ices made of whatever fruit seems good.

I should have added that I have several cheeses and both sweet and savoury torta to put out if people fancy those.

Leafstamp · 10/07/2021 18:39

Pint of cider please. Classy bird that I am.

Tapas sounds delicious.
