I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Ice, and what would you like with that?

I've just had a refreshing if oddly healthyHalo lolly - DH accidentally bought (maybe it was a substitute in the online order) some raspberry kefir drink. Which I couldn't see us drinking so I dug out the lolly moulds.

Blimey, so hot, here.

Need ice

SpringCrocus · 19/07/2021 23:39

Sorry, ancient history experimental archaeology/metallurgy expert, here

BlackeyedSusan · 19/07/2021 23:32

AutumnCrocus · 19/07/2021 20:19

And it's lovely and cool!

Turned · 19/07/2021 20:04

Ah stay tofu, or come back for a longer drink? The company is great here and the books and food too.

TofuDelights · 19/07/2021 19:16

I know this is a bit late and things have moved on, but just to say a big thank you to Embarrassing for the links you put on. I'm just a lurker but a very very avid reader, so thanks!!

Exits sharpish, having quickly necked a short sharp nip of anything I could get my hands on...

CardinalLolzy · 19/07/2021 13:23

I get a bit antsy when I've racked up lots of posts under one username so may namechange soon. I should be recognisable...

ErrolTheDragon · 18/07/2021 23:56

This pub has plenty of ice - cubes or crushed. Chilled whatever-you-want.

It's the bar room of requirement.

BlackeyedSusan · 18/07/2021 23:29

need cold....

so hot.

AutumnCrocus · 18/07/2021 15:58

Have come into the cool for a swift half of chilled cider, watching the F1 and getting very overheated.

MaudTheInvincible · 18/07/2021 15:35

There was a visitor here recently who was ever so pleased that they's learnt to do links with masking text and peppered their posts with them as 'evidence'. There was zero chance of me clicking any of their hidden links. Why would someone think that anyone would follow a link they can't see which was posted by a new poster or newly name-changed poster?

mollythemeerkat · 18/07/2021 14:29

Its got very long horns highame - I wouldnt want it to make it angry - I hope its GC.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/07/2021 13:21

I've been filling in a few gaps, highame. I have lots of lovely stuff in June - delphiniums, campanulas, geraniums, peonies etc but then not much once they're done.

I've got a load of cosmos waiting to be shoved in today but I need to do some hacking - excessive amounts of dogwood. It's quite satisfying how much of that can be stuffed into a brown bin which already looks quite full. Grin

Alkanet I brought it in last week to keep the camel company and it is a very nice inclusion. Well behaved and doesn't mind sharing Melon

How's your border Errol I was pulling Ivy out from the bottom of the hedge and back this afternoon to do the other side.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/07/2021 12:57

I used to do fancy links with the brackets etc but decided it was better to be transparent and just paste in the URL.
(Except for 'portals'.... I actually reported my trick to MNHQ in case they wanted to find a way to disable it)
In general clicking obscure links is unwise but I think we can make a judgment if it's from a poster we trust, so please do carry on EA.

Thank you Embarrassing, I always take a look at the links💐

(There's an Oryx now? How did that get here?)

Waitwhat23 · 18/07/2021 11:19

I think you deserve a medal for doing archive links - no-one can pull the 'never happened, move along' card.

Turned · 18/07/2021 11:11

I always wondered how you got those links and am another one who's grateful for them. Thank you Embarrassing.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 18/07/2021 10:45

I'm grateful for the feedback.

I didn't know if it's because it's no longer the full URL, IYSWIM. I know it looks untidy, but I mostly post a full URL rather than make it a link to a phrase or word because I want people to trust that they can click it.

I don't like clicking bit.ly or other shortening services from people I don't know. Long way to say, I didn't know if that was happening here - if people didn't recognise what the link was and were therefore nervous about following it.

CrossPurposes · 18/07/2021 10:39

@EmbarrassingAdmissions Thank you for doing it! You are doing history a favour.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 18/07/2021 10:36

@DaisiesandButtercups

Thank you *@EmbarrassingAdmissions* when/if you have the time I do appreciate the archived articles. Smile

I wouldn’t know how to find them myself.

You go to either archive.is or archive.li and put the URL you're looking for into the text box.

archive.is/

archive.li/

If someone's archived it already, it will give you the link for it. If nobody's archived it before you, then it will process it and archive it (this may take some time, depending on the queue) and then give you the link to share.

You can also search for saved snapshots of a webpage (when it might have been changed from the previous version) or someone's Twitter - you can put the URL in the 'saved snapshots' box.

I find archive searches like this are a good way of saving Twitter threads (must be open, not locked, however).

highame · 18/07/2021 10:36

me too Embarrassing thank you Flowers

EmbarrassingAdmissions I've often been grateful for your archive links, especially when I've come to a thread late. I do know how to find them myself though Thanks
